Lea Salonga - Someone Like You Lyrics

I peered through window, watched light go by
dream of tomorrow and wonder why
the past is holding me, keeping life at bay
I wandered lost in yesterday
wanting to fly, but scared to try

but if...someone like you
found someone like me
then suddenly nothing would ever be the same
my heart would take reign, and I feel so alive
if someone like you found me.

so many secrets I've longed to share
all I have needed is someone there
to help me see a world I never see before
allow to open every door
to set me free, so I can soar

if someone like you, found someone like me
then suddenly nothing would ever be the same
with you waiting here, a new way to love
if someone like you found me

but if someone like you, found someone like me
then suddenly nothing would ever be the same
my heart would take reign, and I feel so alive...
if someone like you...loves me.

The rendition of this song that I love the most!

  2. J.... D....

Still loving this in 2020 ❤️❤️

  3. A.... M....

She sings beautifully. She doesn‘t have to sing in a high pitch

  4. N.... B....

She really has got a BEAUTIFUL voice. Her diction is perfect...you hear every word. Every note is hit to perfection. She really is a rarity. Enjoy!

  5. D.... M....

This is real music! Thanks Lea

    T.... B....

Ha, thought that would be the one you posted. At least that singer. Was expecting the Rosie O Donnell performance from 98.

    T.... B....

@Madan Mohan Well, Linda Eder originated the character. She owns it. I think respect has to be shown.

    T.... B....

@Todd Burton When I say Rosie O Donnell, I meant Linda's performance of the song on Rosie's show. Linda's is the original and best version of the song.

  7. T.... B....

'Seems to be a struggle for her. And she does not embody the spirit of the song. The ones that make it pleasurable make it seem effortless. Good voice, though... though not a strong one.

  8. R.... M....

Always I hear heavenly voice, crystal clear and you just fall in love...I wish she could be singing in that broadway musical role...

  9. C.... D....

    Still watching 2019😍😍😍😍

  10. O.... u....

  16. L.... K....

Lea Legend, I have to hear you sing at least every week!

  17. r.... ....

Who's the idiot that thought of presenting this song as a March?! This is a Love song not a March song. The Orchestra is overwhelming drowning out the Canary. She sings like she has Carabao poop stuck up her nose. Why is she making those faces when she sings.

  18. s.... C....

    Ssssooi love it

  19. D.... R....

    Still watching in 2018

  20. D.... R....

Whose rendition is the best is a matter of preference. I prefer listening to musical rendition that brings me somewhere or leads me down memory lane. Lea's voice quality is golden and clear. She is a great story-teller too. Everything is just right. No over singing no unnessary vocal acrobatics, no bullshit, just pure clear voice and lyrics and emotions that a whole listening experience demands. Everything is tasty and pleasant to the ears. There is eargasm when evrything is just right and in perfect place. Simplicity is what leaves a mark in her performances. I watched her live and her voice blends with orchestra leaving her audience all in awe. You know that feeling when you leave the concert hall? You want to come back to that experience.

  21. S.... ....

    She’s so darn charming.

  22. p.... ....

not a patch on Linda Eder...……..

  23. F.... R....

Such a very beautiful and heartwarming rendition...mabuhay ka lodi Lea Salonga!

  24. M.... D....

I'm 17 years old and a girl felling in love for Lea in 2018 I love how clean her voice is if only new generation can appreciate this kind of music.

  25. M.... O....

    Heavenly.

  26. E.... W....

You are not Linda, but you carry the tune with such tonality and passion just the same 💚👍🏻

  27. g.... m....

Love her voice.. timeless talent filipina.. world class😎

  28. e.... g....

I love the song and the singer...

  29. E.... O....

    What key is this?

    E.... O....

    Lea's own key

  30. D.... ....

Someone like you is a very hard song to sing but she sang it very well. Hands down to you, Ms. Lea! You're such a complete package.

  31. A.... ....

  34. H.... ....

Every song she covers it becomes more beautiful!

  35. M.... ....

I'm falling in love with her like I know her though I really don't.

  36. D.... ....

she got the beauty, the voice (ofcourse), the class, the brain... she got it all. she's a complete package.

  37. D.... ....

i'm from canada but still lea salonga is my favorite. she's perfect, i'm jealous.

  38. h.... ....

    so lovely!

  39. T.... ....

    Her brother is the conductor.

  40. a.... ....

I grew up listening to her. Both my parents are Filipino, and they have her Broadway Concert disk. This song is my favorite song sung by her, it's so beautiful.

  41. k.... d....

LIKE button is not enough for ALL her performances! There should be 😱 😍!!

  42. J.... E....

Technically, Lea gives justice to the song. She even sings it in original key. Clarity is evident, and I think, it's her forté. The main difference compared to Linda is, the latter sings it emotionally.

  43. A.... V....

She's from Philippines. And a Miss Saigon.

    J.... M....

Played Eponine in the 10th Anniversary concert of Les Mis, and Fantine in the 25th. Also played Eponine on Broadway IIRC as well as the lead in Miss Saigon.

    J.... M....

What a treat for you to hear Lea for the first time. She is a National Treasure.

  46. a.... ....

    Excellent string arrangement!

  47. A.... H....

    Nadia Stracciolini 2017

  55. J.... H....

Great control, and still sung with emotion!

  56. .... ....

I've never seen such a beautiful woman like her. She's absolutely authentic in many ways. What a breathtaking singing voice she has!

  57. M.... M....

Very nice but ultimately this is Linda Eder's song. Afraid Lea's phrasing on this one is similar to Whole New World. It sounds pretty rather than intense.

    M.... M....

Madan Mohan THANK YOU 🙏🏻 Oh are you more than right. Lea’s is not a belter but her range makes up for it but as you said there is no intensity in her voice. Linda originated the role and this is and always will be her song, the role of Lucy is more dynamic than any Disney princess because it shows a woman from nothing that desires for love and a new life for herself and ultimately dies trying where her hopes and dreams fade away.

    M.... M....

FWIW I don't think the song always has to belong to the one who originated it and great covers may sometimes eclipse the original. But this is not one of those.

    M.... M....

Madan Mohan It would always boil down to your preference. At the same time, artists would interpret them differently. This was arranged to fit the concept of her concert.

    M.... M....

Eder's version is for belting. Lea's version is made for clarity, the notes are adjusted to fit her range, by that way (singing in your comfortable range) , she made a wonderful masterpiece.

    M.... M....

Janus Theodore I agree that Lea sang it the way it would suit her voice but I don't have any difficulty understanding what Linda sings when she's belting on Someone Like You. In some other songs the belt muffles her diction but not that song.

  58. D.... J....

    Beau Dermott brings me here!

    D.... J....

Same but I remember Lea as the singing voice of Jasmine, in Aladdin.

    D.... J....

Lea Salonga started singing at 2 and did musicals by the time she was 6 I think - she played the lead for Annie. They're both amazing and it's funny when I saw Beau performed the first time, I remembered Lea Salonga.

    D.... J....

francesy102177 Annie was my first ever part and lead role

  59. M.... ....

check out Beau Dermott om Britain's Got Talent of her rendition of this song! Got Goosebumps!!!

  70. M.... ....

bless her and the struggle at the end...can hardly hear her voice. linda eder takes the lead. chuck off this woman's mouth, it's always unpleasant to watch it when it starts to open, those exaggerated mouth tech is uncalled for!

  71. D.... K....

She needs to originate every new role on Broadway....all of em...my ears melt every time I hear her voice.

    D.... K....

+Dan Keeley average run the mill she says it twice, her singing that is.

    D.... K....

MyWatcher101 average? Hmm, I didn’t know that singers who are average can just perform on broadway and be given a very important recognition. I don’t think that’s average and I’m sure a lot of people will agree with me on that. But if that’s what you think, I hope you’re happy with that.

  72. .... ....

    Such beautiful voice!!!!

  73. G.... C....

    Magnificent !

  74. J.... L....

I just love her and her voice

  75. T.... A....

Is there any music she can't sing.   I betcha she could sing Ronnie James Dio if she wanted to .

    T.... A....

    You are brilliant sir :o

    T.... A....

This song is dedicated to any girl who dated me ,    Thankyou !!!!

  76. M.... B....

    Beautiful.Had me crying

  77. D.... S....

She lowered the key considerably.  I guess she's not as comfortable with the high belt that Linda Eder has. Lovely otherwise.

    D.... S....

Diana Sacino because she's an alto. Yes, it's lovely. Some people always has this notion that belting > low notes... powerful songs can also be sung in low notes.. it's the emotion that matters

    D.... S....

Lea is a soprano actually. Her training is classical so she's more comfortable singing high notes in head voice. She's not a belter.

    D.... S....

    Lea is mezzo soprano. ❤

    D.... S....

Its because she doesnt want to sing the song with anyone's key, she said that when she sing idinah defeying gravity its own her key, its digusting to sing a song with somebody's key... According to her.

    D.... S....

Is a whole step considerable? If I’m not mistaken, Linda sings it in F (which modulates up to F#), and Lea is singing it here in Eb. I do agree it sounds significantly lower, though, but I feel like that may be because of her not being to project as much in the lower parts of the song.

  78. n.... m....

Perfect. I was so mesmerized and so inspired. Thank you for posting.

  79. s.... ....

    i love you Lea!!

  80. m.... ....

    i love this!

  81. .... ....

    Beautiful voice..

  82. L.... B....

    ccccccccccccccccccccccc

  83. l.... ....

    A beautiful song, beautifully sung!

  84. M.... ....

    love this song...

  85. J.... Z....

I'm gonna be honest. I love Lea, I really do, but this performance lacked a lot of emotion for me. I'm disappointed. This is my favorite song and I was really rooting for her to knock it out of the park. She sings the Les Mis songs with such power and intensity, but here, she missed the mark. :(

  86. e.... ....

i was here during her concert! so lucky!
