Lanegan, Mark - The Gravedigger's Song Lyrics
With piranha teeth
I've been dreaming of you
And the taste of your love, so sweet
Honest, it's true
And the dark, heavy rain
Where the gravedigger's song is sung
You've been torturing me
Tout est noir, mon amour
Tout est blanc
Je t'aime, mon amour
Comme j'aime la nuit
Love, is the medicine good?
Over wire and wood?
Shovel down six feet
With a head heavy pain
The magnolia blooms so sweet
And it fades just the same
To the stars, my love
To the sea
To the wheels, my love
'Til they roll all over me
Oh love, I've been thinking of you
With razor white teeth, so sharp
Honest, it's true
In my blood flows sleep
And the dark heavy rain
The magnolia blooms so sweet
Only torturing me
To the stars, my love
To the sea
To the wheels, my love
'Til they roll all over me

Lanegan, Mark The Gravedigger's Song Comments
I keep coming back again and again.
What happened to the music video that used to be on YouTube with this song?
Porra finalmente achei essa musicaaa!! Faz anos, tipo uns 9 anos que tava procurando essa caramba 😤😤😤😤
the entire album is AWESOME
Is this family friendly
This is really fucking amazing, but I am sure that Lanegan and Janssens make the show. Thus fuck off! isolations.blogspot.com
My dad worked with Lanegan at peaches, I grew up listening to his music ever since
♡♡♡♡♡♡
No matter how long it is between listens this song still stops me in my tracks and holds my heart tight ❤❤❤
I hate to repeat myself, but here goes... What I love about this guy, apart from the voice, the soul, the chills down the spine, is that he makes each album as if it was his last... of the few artists whose quality improves as time goes by.
Couldn't agree more this guy has endless creative talent
been very obsessed with this song. 4AD version on youtube is really neat. man whatever the fuck those 2 harmonizing guitars are saying can not be said with words
what a start
There's something in the text of the song that reminds me "Les Chants de Maldoror" by Lautréamont.....Does anybody else share my opinion?
+Vincenzo Pasculli Also, Yumeno Kyusaku's Dogra Magra and Poe's everything. But fuck yeah Isidore Ducasse. "Piranha teeth" is very Ducassien, even though he's more into sharks and cachalots (but there's that South American thing); there's also a gravedigger in Chant I, and there's something about the sea but I don't know in which one (it's the reversal of Hugo's "The human heart is deeper than the sea", and also an homage to his "Travailleurs de la Mer"). I'm so fucking happy to talk about this with a perfect stranger.
+Simon Blanjean Thank you. I think that Lanegan is simply underrated as Lautremont was during his time. What a pity!!! Their poetry is undoubtedly strictly connected to the fil rouge which brings together Lou Reed and Baudelaire, Jim Morrison and Rimbaud, the Apocalypse and Nick Cave. Obviously as You and Ginsberg say Poe is everything and - I add - above all. Sadly, even during these times of fucking technology, bloody information and networking everywhere is very difficult for such great artists to be recognized as they should be. So, we were fortunate to find in Mark Lanegan the dark catalyst of the connection between our obscure literary passions. I pay you my compliments and I thank you for having mentioned me Yumenu Kyusaku (I did not know anything about him but I really appreciated such an unexpected hint and will read Dogra Magra as soon as I can, I promise).

I think what i love about this entire album is how it has this pretty pink floral album artwork and there is no way of knowing how bluesy and soulful the album is nor are you expecting Mark's voice.
You're beautiful.
@Sandro Rafael da Silva creep
@Existential Outrage that was a bit rude some women do appreciate comments

Like a Fine Wine. Has survived it all and just sounds gruffly great. Thanks for Signing after the show too. Class Act.
Fuckin stoned & sexy.....
просто мозговзрывательная песня!
Mark Lanegan Band Tomorrow night, May 23 at the Great American in San Fransisco!
that solo guitar after the verses sounds like josh homme,
I saw him perform at Leeds University, the sound engineering was crystal clear, the delivery on all of his songs perfect. One of, if not the best concert I've ever been to.
I got the vinyl <3:D
@Wesson4 Really good! Just saw him in Glasgow the other night. This is one hell of an opening number - just all consuming. Handful of older material which I was really happy to get as well. (Resurrection Song live? Hells yea!) Also, the man's voice is still flawless live.
Duff McKagan's ESPN Article brought me here. Thoroughly impressed....great stuff!
24 marzo bologna italy
4 april live in thessaloniki,greece!YEAH!!!!
@SirKrow they were going to punch you before it was cool
@yasminandbell Same here, I have had it looping for about an hour now...

His voice cuts through planets. Ever cool.
@SirKrow me too, haha.
for a split second, the main riff sounds like "detroit rock city" by kiss...but this song is much better.
amazing song, amazing voice
No concert in France it seems : (
im addicted to this song:).
IN THE FADE!!!!
9 people are totally deaf
lanegan is a fantastic storyteller.
@laetolisteps
I do a dead on impression and can carry a tune. I'd love to start a Lanegan cover band.
@demonscleaner hey, i m a big fan too, i think blues funeral is really good.just a different way to tell the blues..songs like grey goes black or harborwiew hospital and even(i mean, you have really to hate it) ode to sad disco are amazing..great lyrics, great voice great BLUES.
Will ferrell
Great song, Great album!
@demonscleaner I think I can help you with your problem. There's a key directly to the left of the "A" key. Press that; everything should be sorted out from there.
cioè... quando cerco di spiegare ai miei allievi di canto che non sono solo le note alte che contano ecco cosa intendo ! VOCE & CANTO
@SirKrow So hipster of you.
Mark, eres Grande!!
@SirKrow please tell me you went through with that
what a magical album .
@nacromm Finally Mark has a new solo album! I love his work, he's spread so thin and everything he touches gets his black angels dust on it!!!
All that cyanide and nicotine has really given him a raspy voice.
So awesome! I like this stuff much more than the isobel campbell stuff
epic!! real music.
I'M GOING TO SEE HIM IN 3 DAYS IN L.A. :D :D
This is like sex for the ears..
Sounds amazing, new Mark solo album is long overdue.
I'm going to the release party tomorrow, and I'm going to punch a hipster.
@RichieW Ye can shout that at him when ye see him ye terrible cunt
Ode to sad disco is just awful... awful.... terrible music... my god the sarcasm...
Somehow i've got a hunch that this album will be beyond godlike
@SpocksEvilKlone I saw him in toronto in late 2010, hopefully he does a North America tour. But i read he doesnt really like touring
Cannot wait, for real..................
@SpocksEvilKlone Lots of fans in vancouver, that's all I can vouch for. He's one of those guys that everyone likes when they've heard but most never get introduced.
Oh thank god, it's as good as I expected...
bought my tickets today!
I've been waiting for this for more than 7 years, goddamn finally. All hail Mark Lanegan
Sounds awesome, and only a week and a half to go until the album is released! Wish he'd tour in Canada, but I'm sure I'm the Lanegan fan within 200km of where I live.
This bodes so well... I can barely contain myself.
