Lanegan, Mark - Burning Jacob's Ladder Lyrics
Dreams stripped down beyond firelight
I would go over but my only coat's off white
And seeing things unreal
God knows what that stain
And what comes crawling back again
Tears are harbored
Down to the thorny altar
I'm afraid I might fade away
It's to the blood we sing and burn
Thousand blackbirds on a string return
There's a solitary sun too high
Gone without the chosen one, goodbye
The ashes scatter
I'm afraid I might fade away
It's to the blood we sing and burn
Thousand blackbirds on a string return
There's a solitary sun too high
Gone without the chosen one, goodbye
It's to the blood we sing and burn
Thousand blackbirds on a string return
There's a solitary sun too high
Gone without the chosen one, goodbye
Rage untethered
The soul a stony desert
I'm afraid I might fade away
Dreams stripped down beyond firelight
I would go over but my only coat's off white
And seeing things unreal
God knows what that stain
And what comes crawling back again
The ashes scatter
Burning Jacob's ladder
I'm afraid I might fade away

Rage Ending <3
Fuck.....is there a cooler human being in the world? Maybe Greg Dulli? Tom Waits? Shit...mind blown.
All search for redemption in the dust of the earth. Jacob's Ladder = connection between heaven and this realm.
My grandma's surname is Koutsoukos, she came from Chrysokellaria in Greece, in Messenia. Do you have something to do with them? Greetings from Argentina!
The memories. Rage 2 better encapsulate this feeling.
rage2 will encapsulate only feeling being high on speed
@1231231232972 update: it was shit and just wanted to be borderlands. Sigh. :(
RAGE 😠☠

Can someone commend me some songs that sound like this? I frkin love it!!!
if you are into lanegan you absolutely have to listen to the gravedigger's song, or go back a couple years and get methamphetamine blues. not like desert emptiness, but trust me...
Josh Ritter, "Rattlin' Your Locks" and a piece used under the credits for a UK series called "Safe", by somebody whose name I can't remember, but it's darkly gorgeous and fierce, too.
Merveilleux
One of my favorite Lanegan tunes that's for sure... absoutely
gorgeous... you don't often hear this man scream... but when he does,
it's delicious...
Magique
Man that was a shitty ass ending.
it really was like holy fuck where's the closure
W8 this was not in Blues Funeral album... or theres a version i dont know about ? Thx to this song i got to Lanegans music :)
6 stinky fingers!
One of the best songs I have ever heard. Resonates.
Fantasic music
Am I the only one who searched this song on the internet when the WWE used it for some Undertaker promo?
Undertaker porno? Ewwww.
Ooooh, look at me, I have standards.
rage, silent hill & breaking bad ;)
This song makes me feel a certain emotion...much like anger, but far more intense, nearly blinding.
Oh, if only there was a word for such a thing!
+Munitia Blastpaw Rage?
+Munitia Blastpaw how about "Revenge"
+Munitia Blastpaw power
rage (you are probably talking about the video game)
lmao at the people who didn't get it
ΓΕΙΑ ΣΟΥ ΡΕ ΜΠΟΡΑΤΣΟ ΜΕΡΑΚΛΗ
Can't believe it I have never listened him before this man is amazing...real artist..
If you haven't already (3 yrs. have gone by since you posted this comment, I see), check out his work with his original band, Screaming Trees -- especially the early albums before they signed to a major label (with 1990's "Uncle Anesthesia")
Glad to think at 59 years of age I can still appreciate music like this!
you have to love it !!
Mark is just simply one of the most compelling singers I have ever heard. Almost every song he sings is epic to me. I marvel at his stuff. This song is nothing short of brilliant to me.
Hes come along way since his Screaming Trees dayz. Wish they would reform.....oh well.
That would be cool.
yeah well, they are doing their own thing ie: valis, microdot gnome and Gary Lee Conner, who just released an album.
The beggining sounds a little like Can't Come Down from Bubblegum
Breaking Bad and Rage :D
@MultiSweetGaming Would you like to see a continuation of Rage?
+MultiSweetGaming I disovered this music in the conclusion of Rage, it was an epic ending for this game, and a magnificient discovery for me.
Wait... was this in breaking bad?
@Jervis Tetch Yousician i don't think so
when did it play on breaking bad?
I think some episode in season 4.
Why wasn't it finally incuded on Blues Funeral? Big mistake! It would be one of the best album tracks! Also sad it was neved performed live on concert.
It was perfomed live in 2011 in Hollywood (Fields Of The Departed.)
totally agree with you. blues funeral is in my top 3 since beginning of 2012, when it came out. one of the most epic and compelling albums ive heard in my life (just out of curiosity, the other 2 albums are "shadows collide with people" by john frusciante and ex equo "blur" by blur and "californication" by rhcp). i had to buy the single lp of gravedigger's song to get this song, which is also slightly differently arranged, especially the intro. i think this is the version straight from the videogame, which i honestly like a lil better.
Fantastic ....
Breaking Bad
Wow. Great song. I have never heard this song before. And yet another rare Mark Lanegan song.
This song is awesome
I'm here from the Breaking Bad soundtrack...
RAGE is such an awesome game, it's too bad it was so short. Great song too, couldn't get it out of my head after playing.
I have this mp3 saved on my desktop, and I think I've heard it hundreds of times before going to bed at this point. So damn good, such a powerful build.
This song is fantastic!
This song and John Goodman were the only good things about Rage
why was this left of the album it would have been the killer tune the back ground sounds like ennio morriconie he would be proud off
I'm glad Rage brought me here. I I don't see why people complain that the ending was bad. In case players have forgotten Its the journey, not the destination.
I don't know, I rather enjoyed the game, except the part about the very small amount of checkpoints. Song's still epic though.
The game ran great on my intel i5 quad core CPU and Asus HD 6950 GPU set up. This track at the end, though, was something of a bonus
Agreed.
really?? my computer is slow, but it ran smoothly. of course i kept the benchmark settings though.
My issue was a video card problem...the game was great but the ending was horrible.
dont know about you but i really liked it.
I am here just because i wanted to found the credits song from Jacob's Leadder...
WELP
i was gonna say exactly that .. oh well ...i guess i got nothin to say
Weather I'm in my dune buster.rat rod buggy or my cuprino I turn this on while I'm wandering and it brings me confermation in a way
Where can I find the picture of this clip please ? =)
Great song, fits perfectly to Rage's Wastelands
Am playing Rage again, new DLC don't ya know :-)
burn burn burn
Raaaaaage! This song made me want to play the game again! who else?
Whether it's a movie, show, or game that brings people here, it doesnt matter. But the fact is....Mark is a awesome, major talent. Screaming Trees, QOTSA, or his solo stuff is all primo! I learned of him with "Nearly Lost You", Screaming Trees days, and have been a fan ever since. Love it!!
It's owesome but not very famous :D not even 100000 watches
He was already famous in early 90s fyi.
FARCRY!
No, not at all; I listen to Mark Lanegan because of Queens of the Stone Age
Did RAGE make him famous or what .D How many are from Rage ? :D
MARK LANEGAN IS THE ONLY REASON I PLAYED RAGE
Rage, is key word here, as you may imagine...
