Lancaster, Jason - Save Me Lyrics

Cause I was lost on an open road when you sent something to me
I couldn't hold it in my shaking hands, it was awful hard to see
But the weight that hung around my neck, it was lifted, I was free
To be all the things He wanted me to be

And I was shaking and my eyes were closed in some dirty old hotel
An open heart but an emptied soul was too heavy so I fell
And there on my knees in my company was a story I could tell
About redemption, it's still ringing like a bell

Pick me up and dust me off and leave it open on the cross
And I will stay here on my knees till you send for me
Cause I'm still covered by the ashes of the man I used to be
So tell me please, that you'll send for me, Jesus save me

And I could feel it in my dirty clothes as His blood washed over me
And why I'm getting it, nobody knows, it's just luck for me to see
Cause I will never earn His firm concern when it comes concerning me
Cause I was blind, then He came here and now I'm free

So pick me up and dust me off and leave it open on the cross
And I will stay here on my knees till you send for me
Cause I'm still covered by the ashes of the man I used to be
So tell me please, that you'll send for me, oh Jesus save me

Oh and I'm still covered by the ashes of the man I used to be
Tell me please, will you send for me, and Jesus save me?
Oh, Jesus save me

  4. Aeleri Parmeter

it's not often I find an album that I wouldnt hesitate to buy without listening to every song

  5. Joshua Whitley

Who engineered this album? Was it Jason? because this mix is excellent.

    Jacob Baltimore

he had an indigogo campaign to raise money for the album so he could have complete creative control.

  6. DustinRitt

    Keep rocking Jason! God Bless!

  7. Nikki Dierolf-Ackerman

I have been a fan since Lancaster, was in his early days of Mayday Parade. Then followed his voice every where it went. While I am much, MUCH, more a fan of punk, pop punk, I am shocked I actually really like this solo album. It took a while to grow on me, I won't lie. Today I was feeling a bit down, cause hey happens to all of us right? This song popped up, and I "got it", message received, thanks Jason for reminding me. D:

  8. Jared Rosdeutscher

I haven't really kept up with Jason much since he left Mayday Parade but it's amazing to see that he's come to know Christ. Great testimony!

  9. Fauzi Sitompul

Cause I'm still covered by the ashes of the man I used to be, oh jesus save me

  10. Jonny B

My first and possibly least important point, this song is obviously country and not the acoustic pop/rock in which the album is categorized. Second, do you think it's okay to just recycle the la di da background vocal from a Go Radio song called Redemption in the Verse? I'll stick with Mayday and GR if he wants to start singing like a country gospel cowboy and recycle his old shit. It just seems lazy. Gospel music is like a last resort for broke artists. Everyone is such a Jesus fanboy all drooling over his cock it makes me sick.

    Thomas Gibson

@Jonny B its simply got a country sound because the guys been in nashville for like 4 years now, you idiot. part of country rubbed off on him as a musician obviously considering he played in clubs there all the time. wow.

    Mary Cody

    Tell the World

    Joshua Hamilton

    @Thomas Gibson I agree. :)

    Daniel Rudder

He wrote this song with the guys from Go Radio so blame them as well.

    Nikki Dierolf-Ackerman

@Jonny B Tell that to bands like Memphis May Fire, that band isn't broke,  their new album is unreal. Having subtle to major Christian under tones. Get over it...and stop being offensive. If you're against Christianity awesome, but no need to be overly offensive and childish about it. :)

Redemption In The Verse Part II
I just love both songs \m/

  12. Happy Badger

A good track, well written, but not a fan of the whole God thing.

  13. Shuhel Ramos

La di da, la di da, da da

  14. Fredo L'oiseau

Just realized he worked the ending of "Redemption In The Verse" in this song. Which makes the song make more sense. So it really should be called (Part II)

  15. cuove

`Love the song. Hate the religion. Each his own though.

  16. Miranda Foster

this makes me happy beyond belief

  17. Steve Ciampa

I love how this song has a real country feel to it, Jason can really pull off any genre!

    Gryphox: Tails_155, ShinMajin and Pals

I thought it sounded totally country, too. It makes sense that he'd have some country roots being from north Florida.

    Erik Rodriguez

I thought the same thing! I have a lot of respect for Jason Lancastar as a musician!

  18. Kuhleenuh

This one has a country sound to it, not my cup of tea… :'(

  19. Ally Mart

Beautiful. The voice, the lyrics, the talent. Incredible. So proud to be a fan. Mayday Parade, Go Radio, and now this. Well done.

    patrick tufts

You mean a fan of jason?

    Ally Mart

    @patrick tufts yes

  20. StarCrossedPimp

Reminds me of Redemtion In The Verse and I like the country influence. Good track.

    Six Seven

    Ladeeda, ladeedah-dah-da!

  21. E C

Dude you're perfect and now even though your lyrics are obviously christian.. And still sound terrific! Damn I just couldn't like you more than I do right now LOL *stands up and starts clapping

  22. Logan Wagner

I'm far from religious in any way, shape, or form; but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't moved by this song. The ending, the passion and the fire he sang with was nothing short of fantastic.

    Gryphox: Tails_155, ShinMajin and Pals

    I'm an atheist, and I 100% agree.

  23. Brendan Holder

Even as an atheist, I can appreciate good music. When it makes me feel something than it has to be good! Your voice is so good and I can't get enough of it!!

    Shane Wallick

    Agree 100 percent dude. :)

    Gryphox: Tails_155, ShinMajin and Pals

I'm so happy because I heard this when I received the album, and as an atheist myself, I was really nervous there would be a big flame war type attitude on this song, but nope, just appreciation of music.

  24. EggY Bread

Worst song on album by far !

    Kyle Fuller

Actually this song is written for non religious people jason said it on one of his social networks

    EggY Bread

wrong! sorry but he had a ama on reddit and said that he is writing for god now so :/

    Eyker Cruz

@Kyle Fuller Yeah he just had an interview last week where he said this songs about when he "went back to god," I recommend you watch the interview, its good ! Its rock forever magazine

    cuove

@Kyle Fuller Id also suggest if he did say that, then his aim to convert. Which I think us without religious affiliation are, tired of.

    Erik Rodriguez

Aw man! I'm sorry you feel that way! I personally think it's one of the best off the record! It's very well written! It's got a country-rock vibe to it and I just love that he isn't ashamed to announce his passion for Christ!

  25. Chandler Elizabeth

Hopefully there's more worship music to come. :)

  26. James Garrett

A voice from heaven now singing for heaven....incredible

    Meghan Darcy

    YES, its absolutely beautiful.

  27. d o n s p l a y e r

Your song always make me smile Jason :))
