LaMontagne, Ray - Part One - Homecoming Lyrics

Billboard, back road, meadow
Sunset through the trees.
I can' t remember the faces I've seen.
Low and mean.

High Rise, white light, shadows
Years in the air.
I don' t recall all the "why"
or the "where" or "who was there"

Show me the feathers you've found
The glass in the ground
A comforting sound when the lights are down.

Hillside flush with the Sunrise
Spring in the air
I cant remember a morning so fair, not a care

Show me the feathers you've found
The glass in the ground
A comforting sound when the lights are down.

The birdsong, tugging on my slumber
Opens my eyes.
Slowly I am woken to find
Your hand in mine.

Show me the feathers you've found,
The glass in the ground,
A comforting sound when the lights are down.

Billboard, a back road, a meadow
Sunset through the trees.
I cant recall all the faces I've seen
So low and mean.

The Birdsong, tugging on my slumber
Opens my eyes.
Slowly I am woken to find,
Your hand in mine.

Show me the feathers you've found
The glass in the ground,
A comforting sound when the lights are down

The range of sound, style and atmosphere this man is able to capture with his music is always astonishing to me

  2. C.... ....

Why does this song make me cry?

  3. J.... S....

Very reminiscent of pink Floyd's "See Saw"

  20. S.... H....

I Love how Ray recreates himself each album! Amazing song!!

  21. E.... M....

dreamy trippy gorgeous... i dropped in to the space between worlds.

  22. a.... ....

Flying back from Africa ... and listening to this album was like a lifeline in a tin can

  23. N.... ....

Just saw his Ouroboros concert last night, he is touring with the entire band of My Morning Jacket! (Minus Jim James). If you don't know who they are, highly recommend looking them up too. Concert was INCREDIBLE, never seen Ray play like that before. Stage effects were cool too, the album cover was incorporated in the experience throughout. Catch a show of the tour if you can, it was something else.

    N.... ....

We see him in St.Louis on the 27th!! My son introduced me to the music of My Morning Jacket and I love Rays music! Can't wait!

  24. j.... h....

oh wow! Im getting a nick drake vibe.

  25. E.... ....

Fifty people are deaf and soulless.

  26. D.... D....

GOD... this man and his many talents...

  27. U.... ....

"The Blacklist" brought me here (this song was featured at the start of last week's episode).

    U.... ....

me, too. Love the soundtrack from that series.

  28. T.... B....

I definitely felt Simon and Garfunkel on this one. Maybe just a Sprinkle of Floyd. Beautiful

    T.... B....

This song felt a lot like early Pink Floyd. Specifically, Richard Wright's See Saw from Saucerful of Secrets. 💞

  29. J.... H....

not even close to the best do real songs again instead of all this melodic crap

    J.... H....

+Jeremiah Hutchison It's all personal taste. I love the melodic, "drift-away" aspect! ;)

    J.... H....

@Stella Rothe yea you are right. i not agianst it but he used to be so much more powerful with just him and a guitar.

    J.... H....

Jeremiah Hutchison Seriously though. Trouble is my favorite album and I can’t stand Supernova or this one

  30. M.... H....

Heard it on the way into work and drifted along hoping it would never end and I would never arrive..........delicately lovely, haunting and elegant.......I close my eyes and can almost imagine Simon and Garfunkel harmonizing on this one.....

    M.... H....

You listen to this on a walk too? Feels good doesn't it? :)

    M.... H....

Feels great going to work and even better listening walking home.

    M.... H....

    Are you still employed? 🙄✌

    M.... H....

Pretty much all of Ray's songs have that effect on me. :)

    M.... H....

Well when you consider that the second chord and his vocal melody over that chord is literally a copy of "For Emily, wherever I may find her," I'd say you were right on point with the Simon and Garfunkle reference.

  31. A.... S....

This is one of the prettiest songs I've heard in awhile. Thanks, Ray!

  32. M.... N....

    Robin Pecknold vibe

  33. G.... W....

Top 5 best melodies in the chorus ever. Gives my chills every run through!

  34. B.... L....

    Floored! Absolutely floored.

  35. J.... M....

So amazing. This guy never disappoints
