My reflections are protection - she's learned from her mistakes or has learned to be at least more observant.

They keep me from destruction - as a result of what she's learnt she will no long need to worry about anything or at least very little going wrong.

My directions are distractions - she is stating that she doesn't want to try to be something she's not. Perhaps, in the past, she may have felt as though she has to fit in, however doing this could have got her in trouble or hurt.

If you leave me, Ill go back to hide - although she is more confident and aware now, she still wants some one to be there for her to help and support her. And if she ever gets left alone, she will go back to hide in solitude. alone.
