La Dispute - New Storms For Older Lovers Lyrics
"I've come here as a man in shambles — worn out from begging on my knees
Please, I'm just trying to keep my family together
Now, when you saw your lover wore a ring around her finger, why didn't you stop?
I have half a mind to make you hurt, to make you bleed, to make you suffer
Forgive what I would do to you, you monster
And think about your children?
They'll never believe what you've done
Listen, I'm begging you, back off
Let me rebuild all the things that you shattered
She meant it, I swear that she meant it, she whispered so often
'Husband, I'll always be here with you'
I wish I'd never heard her speak a word
And I hope you see us — your wife and your children
And I — buried in the wreckage of your crime
While you're laying down your sins
Softly leaning in to kiss your guilt goodnight"
She is mine. You stole her, somehow tricked her but
We'll survive. We will. She loves me dearly—you'll see
You are blind. She loves me dearly
Breathe in
He finally paused to take a breath
Then looked down — it felt like staring into hell
The man was seated in a chair before him, silent
A statue framed in pain and flesh. He thought
"Oh, what more can I say to sway him? To make this statue speak?
I swear he's made of stone and I am barely stirring up a breeze"
And after waiting in the silence
Finally turned around to leave
Broken and barely through the doorway
Breathing slowly, beating hard, he heard him speak
"I guess love's a funny thing — the way it fades away without a warning
It doesn't ask to be excused
And when it's gone — oh, it's gone — and it ain't ever comin' back
There is nothing you can do to save it
To make it breathe the way it did when you were sliding on the ring
Trust me: It's gone for good
Now there is nothing you can do to stop me
She is happy when she is with me and I am finally alive. I'm sorry"

The man said, "There is nothing you can do to save it. To make it breathe the way it did when you were sliding on the ring, trust me, it's gone for good. Now there is nothing you can do to stop me. She is happy when she is with me and I, I am finally alive. I'm sorry". The man did not ruin the speaker's marriage, it was already ruined.

Hardest hitting La song imo
Still here. La dispute 4 lyfe
I think this song is about a man stealing another mans wife. While the original husband is pissed off, he’s understands that the interloping man sees the same amazing things that he, himself sees. The rage comes from the original husband realizing that he could have easily made his wife happy....but he only realizes this after she’s gone
Im legit addicted to la dispute
WHEN ITS GONES, OH ITS GONE
Wow! F*cking great. Found this band by coincidence or fate.
Funny how this song has a totally different meaning to me than it did 3 years ago. A much more painful meaning. Man how things change
This comment is 5years too late, one of the greatest songs ever written.
Anyone know of any other bands like this?
Asking for a friend
Dave try Touché Amoré
The chord progression of the last part is cool
This song was the beginning to a something before, now I reflect on this after the rubble has settled and realized the "always is valueless"
I just want to live in the final moments of this song,
Up you go. <3
Always is valueless I wish I never heard her speak a word...
God man those lyrics don't hit hard until you've had someone you care about so much destroy you only for you to still care about them.

"She is happy when she is with me and I am finally alive. I'm sorry."
The other pov
Sportiechick 321 exactly. That would be me
Marco David Velazco Castillo unless someone stole your girl
I felt that.
Feeling this so hard right now. I feel like I can’t fucking breathe
The last part makes me so angry...fuck your sorries
highdhd but who is apologizing? the husband or the lover?
The person who the wife is cheating on the narrator with. The whole last part was his reply.
is this song about abuse?
No, it is a story about a husband who's discovered his wife being unloyal to him with another man... He is saying , look what you've done, saying that this man has basically left his life in shambles... but still, he has strength to rebuild this relationship, that he has the might to power through this difficult time he's going through while also enlightening his anger towards the situation.
At the end of the song, the husband is confronting the cheater, and portrays the cheaters emotions...feeling sorry for what he's done, in shock, he has nothing to say and leaves... when the husband speaks. Hence the saying, "I guess loves a funny thing, the way it fades away without a warning" and "when it's (love) gone oh its gone, it ain't ever coming back...". Saying that love between them will never be the same, but still, he will do anything he must to make things work things out between him and his wife
I think... I think both of these are men within myself. This song embodies an internal fight I fight frequently have... fuck...
This song tho
i love this song
This song always finds a way to make me feel better.
Especially after being cheated on for the first four months of the serious relationship I'm in. Yet I'm still with this idiot. Trying to fix everything that's broken. : /
That's dumb. Move on, homey
exact same thing just happened to me and here I am :/
It's not your job to fix what your partner destroyed. I would honestly just move on.
This is hard core bull shirt..
You're too young to understand. And that's okay. You'll learn eventually, sweety.
@Grayson- which one of us?
leave sofia, this stuff ain't for emotionless lil shets xx
i dont care if i spelled your name wrong just go away
ill buy you a La Dispute bull shirt if you want..... but I just don't thing they have designed them yet...sorry.
These lyrics make me cry like a little bitch, specially the last part.
The vocalist has OCD thus the excessive use of the word "always".
@wearenothingbutpawns And your point is?
@SpeeŒr Mon that assuming he has ocd is dumb
@wearenothingbutpawns One thing's for sure: he's a hormonal bitch.
@SpeeŒr Mon lol okay ???
Pretty sure he's just putting emphasis on the fact that she was supposed to love him forever and always
This hits too close to home /:

This song is going on my playlist cx
This song is about the true story of a man who stole the wife of another guy.
Three songs talks about that : That one , Last Blues for bloody Knuckles and Sad Prayers for guilty bodies.
This one is the conversation between the two man.
(It's a true story about Jordan's friend's family.)
My favorite song
I like the part 1:04 when the instruments stop, and it's just him singing... Good band...!!!
The way they sound they remind me of underoath in some kind of way :)
VzRSUICIDEVzR lol me and my dad love underoath's drummer
La Dispute has such a way of painting the most heart breaking pictures...
Pendejo boy.
go fuck yourself, dude. There's a difference between music that's stupid, and people too stupid to understand it.
+Lupe Burciaga chill out bitch. You don't even know who or what he was talking about
I love this song soooo much!(:
Why dont we all just be happy that this is an amazing song. Ok
This song is just.. so brilliant.. I can't. Handle. The. Talent. And. Sheer. Greatness. Of. It. All.
I think la dispute makes the best music ever. All of their songs are just perfection.
Or she was in just in love.
Robert hunter.
If he never bothered to say I love you, kiss her good night, or hug her tight, if he never bothered to actually love her, he's at fault as well. If he had showed her love, she wouldn't have had to go looking for it somewhere else..
Holy shit, why is there so much negativity on every La Dispute video lol.
Each person takes whatever meaning they subconsciously choose from a song. No need to be hostile.
hahahaha gold
toast bread with butter
blindly assuming everything will be perfect is one of the worst things you can possibly do while in a relationship. Maybe my interpretation is colored too much by my personal experiences but this is how I read it. He was so in love with her, so caught up in the fantasy of a perfect relationship that he didn't see problems when they were there and let them get out of hand because he didn't think anything could ever go wrong, but he was slowly losing her.
Alexander Simmons if she was lost she should have walked away
Hey there, calm down. Just because the person feels close to a certain song gives you no right to be mean to them like that. Be considerate of others. What do you think all the band members you love would think of what you said to that person? I'm not trying to be mean. And I'm not saying I agree with the person. Just keeping the comments safe for everyone.
because its more realistic- most relationships that end badly like that result from a huge clusterfuck. No one cheated in my last two relationships, but we both made a lot of mistakes and hurt each other, especially as it was falling apart. I still think I was had the moral high ground overall, but lord knows there were some times when I fucked up.
its her fault for cheating, but also his fault for the emotional neglect and blind assumptions that drove her from his side. I'd say she's more guilty, but he's not entirely blameless either- its one of those tragedies where no one really has clean hands even the victim.
Imagine if this song had been written from the perspective of the woman or the other man, what side of the story you might see? The narrator comes off as pretty clearly unreliable to me- which actually makes him more relatable
hardly something to brag about though, I mean do you really want to go around telling everyone your relationship came out of a fucked up love triangle that destroyed your exes life?
I mean, either way, he still loved her dearly. And she shouldn't have cheated. AND the guy knew she was married. I believe its everyone's fault except for the faithful husband.
I think the real point is supposed to be that they're all flawed- its everyone's fault and no ones at the same time.
If I interpreted the lyrics right, the point of view switches from the married man to the other man towards the end, but I'm not sure. But it sounded almost like the counterargument to what he was saying in the first part of the song.
This song makes me feel so guilty. I was in on an affair once.
amazing!
Maybe she did. with wolves they often change their spouses depending on the alpha male in the pack. xD
if he didn't ask what she wanted and what her dreams were then she shouldn't have married. either way, she shouldn't have cheated. her fault no matter how you look at it
it would still be retarded to have "their song" be about cheating.
A punctuation error is a grammatical error...
maybe she cheated on someone with her now boyfriend, which was already married with children at that point and now they are together. that would be just like the story in the song, kiddo.
maybe she did, but to say that something describes what you've been through it doesn't have to be exact. even songs that are clear can be taken for interpretation. and "do your research?" what fucking research, all that's necessary is to listen to the song. I cheated on my boyfriend of 3 years and i feel this describes us, i regret it all the time but at least i got outta the relationship somehow. still feel like the song describes it though even tho i didn't leave him for a married man.
The married man never stopped to ask himself why his wife left him..If having a ring made one in love forever there would be no divorce. The married man tricked himself..."If I can just get her to marry me by any means she'll be mine forever." Never asking what she wants, what her dreams are, but only trying to change her into what he wants her to be. Not love at all when her happiness doesn't matter, only her obedience.
Actually I have and looked over the lyrics and everything. This is a song about a guy confronting the guy that his wife cheated on him with. Its pretty easy to understand, honestly.
I'm in love with you.
How can you interpret this song? It's metaphors are hard to misinterpret.
Not even, just actually listen to the song first, maybe...
This song is literally the story of my life. At least the last year of it =[. Someone gimme a hug. "always is valueless I wish I never heard her speak a word"
I'm so sorry.
This song sums up my deepest fears.
Seeing them on Wednesday! So excited
Maybe people interpret the song differently?
La Dispute will forever mean so much to me.
The lyrics man, they give me feels.
I signed in just to like this.
Thank you for being sassy.
It sounds like he has to sneeze throughout the song.
this is like the only song that gets me emotional. GAHH
A song like this is personal. It can mean anything she wants. Just bc thats what it means to La Dispute doesnt mean thats what it measn to her
actually its on youtube so its digital ..dont hate me for ma swagg # YOLO.... just kidding its real
lol fail
I just....there are no words for this
Am I the only one feeling The Great Gatsby here..?
los amooooooooooo tampoco amar pero son buenoooooos >.<
"I guess love's a funny thing the way it fades away without a warning".
Saw them at the pabst a few years ago with Thursday and the Fall of Troy. They are just as good live.
First of all, you are correcting a punctuation error, not a grammatical error. Second, none of you are using "proper grammar," as the above stated "Real music, kids. Real music" consists of two sentence fragments, not full sentences. Third, you can all fuck off, because this is YouTube.
That's called punctuation not grammar fuck face
I wouldn't call it the definition of all post-hardcore, because it is a very broad genre. 80's post hardcore like Minutemen, Husker Du and NoMeansNo sounds nothing like this post-hardcore. But this band does define this wave of post-hardcore.
THIS SONG MAKES MY SOUL HAPPY.
Well, this one says it in no uncertain terms...
I love listening to La Dispute & being able to figure out the meanings to their songs.<3
i dont mind this but my girl likes it you got a pure brutal metal head aka me to have my girlfiriend listen to this shit ( not shit as in shitty i just say shit for shit you get my flow hahahah) (Y)
