La Dispute - Five Lyrics

Sure, I know that you are tired of hearing about it
But most repeat the same theme over and over again,
It's as if they were trying to refine what seems so strange
And off and important to them.

It's done by everybody
Because each must work out what is before them over and over again
Because that is their personal tiny miracle.
Like now as like before
And before I have been listening to symphony after symphony from this radio
It makes me realize that certain people now long dead
Were able to transgress graveyards and traps and cages and bones and limbs
In tiny rented rooms I was struck by miracles

The flesh covers the bone and they put a mind in there
And sometimes a soul and the women break vases against the walls
And the men they drink too much
And nobody ever finds the one
But keep looking crawling in and out of beds.
Flesh covers the bone and the flesh searches for more than flesh.

There is a loneliness in this world
So great that you can see it in the slow movement of the hands of a clock
People so tired, mutilated, either by love or no love.
People just are not good to each other.
We are afraid.
Our educational system tells us that we can all be big winners
But it hasn't told us about the gutters or the suicides.
Or the terror of one person aching in one place
Alone, untouched, and unspoken to.

People are not good to each other.
People are not good to each other.
I suppose they never will be.
I don't ask them to be.
But sometimes I think about it.
There must be a way.
Surely, there must be a way

There's no chance at all:
We are all trapped by fate.
Nobody ever finds the one.
Nobody ever finds the one.

There's no chance at all:
We are all trapped by fate.
Who put this brain inside of me?
It says that there's a chance.
It's kept the rope from my throat
Maybe it will loosen yours.

The city dumps fill.
The junkyards fill.
The graveyards fill.

Nothing else fills.
Nothing else fills.
Nothing else fills.

I found a site last night with all La Dispute lyrics. I read the lyrics of this last night and knee I'd love the song. I did. I had never listened to any of the Here, Hear EPs, either. I just knew I'd love it.

@juanns the lyrics were taken from three of that author's poems. Jordan put them together in such a way that they'd flow.

  31. j.... ....

amazing! If you guys like the song, you should check the author Charles Bukowski. this song clearly was influenced by his poems

  40. p.... h....

:D i understand life now.. its fucking stupid sometimes -_- but it wont change, ever, we just got to keep our heads up, or actually down, so we dont see the the bad stuff on earth worst than it actually seems, and dont take things other peope say so seriously, for we all come to an end one day, and nothing will matter after that.

  41. G.... S....

@PocketKings87 i agree with you so, so much.

  42. T.... ....

Bukowski and La Dispute. This makes me smile.

  45. M.... ....

Alone with everybody is my favorite Charles Bukowski poem. I'm pretty sure my love just somehow got deeper for this band.

  46. L.... B....

It's nice that La Dispute has such a love for Charles Bukowski.

All of his work is fantastic, and seeing his poem coupled with La Dispute is fantastic.

  47. m.... m....

@PocketKings87 - it is for the minds who truly appreciate their words and to share them with the world, to help the ignorant REALIZE.

  48. M.... B....

@shinigamimomo i wish that people who listened to this could actually acknowledge charles bukowski

  49. M.... B....

ugh this song is just a mix of charles bukowski's two poems "the crunch" and "alone with everybody"
but i can't stop listening to it lol

  50. C.... ....

@moonlight2starlight I could get any song for you... I never have any difficulty retrieving songs for friends.... no matter what lol...

How do you get these cd's?

  54. R.... ....

  56. D.... T....

    lovethis.

  57. P.... ....

this music is far too introspective and profound to gain the attention it deserves. people just want something they can sit down and passively tap their feet to.this type of stuff should be required listening for anyone who wants to write lyrics.
