I never knew what a short-arse Nick Cave is until this video. Kylie is only 5'1" so even in heels wouldn't be much past 5'4". Yet she's almost as tall as Cave here.

That 'dude' is the brilliant Blixa Bargeld, who, as well as fronting Neubauten, played guitar in the Bad Seeds from 1983-2003. He also did the guide vocal for Kylie on Where the Wild Roses Grow (and sings it better, IMO).
But Jovan is right, it's really worth googling him/them.

This comes at the end of the album Murder Ballads, but how seriously are we to take the songs religious message. It certainly seems out of place after the bleakness and very black humour of the rest of the album.

There is no religious message per se. The lyrics are saying that if you are miserable and off yourself, or die else-wise, that is not the end of the suffering.
