Kweli, Talib - All Of Us Lyrics

[Assata Shakur:]
It is our duty to fight for our freedom
It is our duty to win
We must love each other and support each other
We have nothing to lose
We have nothing to lose
We have nothing to lose but our chains

[Talib Kweli (Yummy Bingham):]
Send this one out to
To the mothers (they neglected)
To the fathers (they rejected)
To the sisters (disrespected)
To the brothers (unprotected)
All of us, (all of us), all of us, (all of us)
We send this one out to
To the mothers (they deceited)
To the fathers (they mistreated)
To the sisters (they misleaded)
To the brothers (and get beated)
All of us, (all of us), all of us, (all of us)
This is happening to all of us

[Talib Kweli:]
If our struggle is a strain then the strain is dominant
My name is prominent for entertainment that's laced with consciousness
But really its just common sense like Lonnie Lynn
You don't need binoculars to see the light coming through the dome like it's innocuous
The common myth that we're savages with no history or accomplishments
Or knowledge of ourselves they did a job on us
Considering the prediction of economists
Machines will do our jobs for us
The future for the working class is ominous
They got is indoctrinated through a brew
A religion mixed in with abuse
Emotional we sit in [?]
It's physical we get the noose
And hang ourselves refusing to name ourselves
Refuse to change ourselves
When I talk about our past it doesn't ring a bell
They make you hate yourself it take effort so check the method
They'll take you from your family, your kids will never respect you
Attach your sins to the black of skin we get the message
We start acting if we cracking the whip better than the oppressor, yes
Every problem can't be solved with a ballot box
We unifying Africa like Gaddafi that's what got Malcolm shot
They out to stop anybody with knowledge that figured out the plot
On the balcony like Malcolm Luther King I been to the mountaintop
The blue wall of silence, it's really the blue wall of violence
The good cops who retire and get fired
They screaming black on black as an excuse for you to not care
Till the cops roll up in their SWAT gear

[Jay Electronica:]
I tarried through the month of Ramadan
Sweating all through the night just like the Holy Prophet
Then reappeared on the stage in BK with the Ummah
Shoulder to shoulder with J Cole and Kweli
Just before Jehovah the God crown me the king with his goldie locket
Alhamdulillah we've come really far, ain't it?
The little engine who could, could power any car can't it?
The mothers in Chiraq say the murders getting burdensome
The cries of the despised was heard flying out of Ferguson
The last days and times the holy Quran and Bible we on the last page and line
The verse with all the babies dying
Outside of the matrix, inside of the spaceship but the savior is blind
Or so it seems, years after Noah was told he would row upstream
The heavens bursted and the rains came
Retaliation of the sons of the fathers who worked the chain gangs
I hit that shmoney dance on the coffin of a crooked cop
In a worldstar society where all we do is look and watch
No intervention, policemen beating elderly women with evil intentions on the highways and the byways
The police they be straight into the backstreet to the driveways
Office friendly is an enemy now, looking at me sideways
It was all bad just a week ago
The view was just as sad just a peep ago
The cries of the hazy [?] anti-semitic peoples that propel Jay Elec from the pedestal to the steeple

[Talib Kweli (Yummy Bingham):]
To the mothers (they neglected)
To the fathers (they rejected)
To the sisters (disrespected)
To the brothers (unprotected)
All of us, (all of us), all of us, (all of us)
We send this one out to
To the mothers (they deceited)
To the fathers (they mistreated)
To the sisters (they misleaded)
To the brothers (and get beated)
All of us, (all of us), all of us, (all of us)
This is happening to all of us

To the mothers (they neglected)
To the fathers (they rejected)
To the sisters (disrespected)
To the brothers (unprotected)
All of us, (all of us), all of us, (all of us)
We send this one out to
To the mothers (they deceited)
To the fathers (they mistreated)
To the sisters (they misleaded)
To the brothers (and get beated)
All of us, (all of us), all of us, (all of us)

I love this song and video to death, Jay Elec is my favorite rapper and killed it (he always does), but I have to say what bugs the shit out of me is the costuming for the police - it looks like they got a members only jacket and dressed them up terribly. It's kind of embarrassing and I don't understand why they couldn't make them look convincing (they have a hat that says "police"...) when there was obviously money poured into this beautiful video.

  45. A.... B....

  82. L.... A....

Talib Kweli - today you just jumped into a debate you know NOTHING about. Racism in Australia. Time to inform you of the uncomfortable truth. I grew up in the Nullarbor desert with REAL Aboriginals, not city fellas with dark skin. They use to call me "Snowflake" because I was one of the only white kids around. Best time of my life! I learnt SO much. Not "book learning" but how to find water, identify tracks, stay cool in 45c heat etc. My parents had a hell of a time forcing me to wear shoes etc.! I want to know where my "white privilege" is?? Like most people out there, my teeth are broken, yet as a "white fella" I cannot get dental assistance that is given to all my aboriginal mates!!! Why not?? We grew up the same! I was told TO MY FACE that if I was black, it would not be a problem! RACIST BASTARDS! Even my aboriginal friends are disgusted at this!! Racism here was pretty much dead until ignorant shits breathed life into it again - this time in reverse! Assholes. What hippocracy! DO NOT bring up the "stolen generation" either - I was there, you were not. That whole thing was WAAAY more complicated than you know. Kids WERE taken away, but NOT for the reasons you have been told. The real problem was alcohol abuse, and passed out parents couldn't feed their kids properly "green can dreaming" (look it up) was "normal" out there. As for something the British did 200 friggen years ago, that is ANCIENT history we had learned from, and moved on from, until ignorant bastards decide to revive it, and use it as "cheap shot" ammo!! Perhaps you should blame Britain for that one (the rest of us were mostly forced "convicts" remember!). Stop screaming racism, then being racist yourself! Fed up with being blamed for something I have never done, nor ever been a part of. This stuff has caused more racial division than I can ever remember!! You are not helping equality at all, you are CAUSING racism with your political agenda, whose only purpose is to serve yourself. Yeah, yeah, the nets gonna explode over this, so what. This is literally only the tip of this iceberg, it would take months to explain what actually happened without all the propaganda. Not even going to comment on your American situation, that is different, and I wasn't there so I cant say. Would appreciate it if you extended the same courtesy.

  83. g.... m....

Obama an Hillary supported the overthrow of Libya an murder of Qaddafi an that's who you support.."WAKE THE FUCK UP" Kweli
