Ahhh these chord progressions!!!!

Gosh, this is so stunning...

I like how the song switches time signatures, first in 5/8 in the verses then in 6/8 in the bridge, then back to 5/8. It feels like the irregular but constant waving of an ocean.

This is one of the best songs off the Eye to the Telescope album IMO.

One of those songs I heard years ago, on a sunny afternoon in some bar somewhere in the Highlands in summer 2005, and never knew who it was (and stupidly didn't ask). Thought I was destined never to find out until I heard it on heavy rotation at my hotel recently, stuck some of the lyrics into google and was surprised to find who it was. Awesome, awesome song.

I don't comprehend this song like a love song... I have it like a moment in lifa that you are completely exauted, sick of living the same kind of life you don't like. And suddenly you feel like doing something good, but you have no idea about how to begin.

I don't see how you could ever define this as 4/4, since the whole band is playing a distinct 3/4 timing. (bass and guitar particularly clear, but vocals and drums as well)

I always thought that it was in 5/4, then switches to 3/4 at the chorus...but I suppose it could be 4/4 depending on how you look at it.
