K.T. Oslin - 80's Ladies Lyrics

We were three little girls from school
One was pretty, one was smart
And one was a borderline fool
Well, she's still good lookin'
That woman hadn't slipped a bit
The smart one used her head
She made her fortune
And me, I cross the border every chance I get

We were the girls of the 50's
Stoned rock and rollers in the 60's
And more than our names got changed
As the 70's slipped on by
Now we're 80's ladies
There ain't been much these ladies ain't tried

We've been educated
We got liberated
And had complicating matters with men
Oh, we've said "I do"
And we've signed "I don't"
And we've sworn we'd never do that again
Oh, we burned our bras
And we burned our dinners
And we burned our candles at both ends
And we've had some children
Who look just like the way we did back then

Oh, but we're all grown up now
All grown up
But none of us could tell you quite how

We were the girls of the 50's
Stoned rock and rollers in the 60's
Hunny, more than our names got changed
As the 70's slipped on by
Now we're 80's ladies
There ain't been much these ladies ain't tried

A - my name is Alice
I'm gonna marry Artie
We're gonna sell apples
And live in Arkansas

B - my name is Betty
I'm gonna marry Bobby
We're gonna sell beans
And live in Brazil

C - my name is Connie
I'm gonna marry Charlie
We're gonna sell cars
And live in California

  11. A.... R....

This is the country music they should be playing on the radio today instead of this so called country

  12. a.... h....

My mom says it reminds her of her and her two sisters. Although it’s written for friends it fits them to a T. When we are all together they always sing it together ❤️

  13. m.... ....

    my mom age

  14. W.... G....

this is one of the best songs ever made!

  15. B.... S....

K.t oslin sure brings back those great years of the 80s. Cold beer hot women

  16. B.... R....

The 2019 CMA awards tribute to women failed to mention the legendary KT. One of best voices ever

    B.... R....

Brad Richardson I agree and the CMA is a joke. They pretended to make the show all about the women of country music but they continued to snob Carrie Underwood and once again they gave Garth Brooks the entertainer of the year award when Carrie clearly deserves it.

  17. A.... F....

I marry Artie but I lived on gravely and Artie Dr on the corner at 2-4

  18. D.... R....

    Hi Ms. K. T. Oslin!

I turned 43 yrs. old yesterday, but when I was growing up I surely enjoyed your music along with my mom and my late grandmother's. (I got more fun outta watching them react then anything else! It was like they bonded.)

Your music, Nashville Now, Hee-Haw, Murder She Wrote, Designing Women and Scarecrow and Mrs. King were MUSTS for that troop!

Better not be between them or a tv and radio, lol. God bless you and your family Ma'am!

Thank you for helping to bring joy to three little super duper ladies from Kentucky for so many years.

Rest in peace Grandma Agnes and Mermaw! Love you dearly. Miss y'all so very much.

  19. K.... M....

I love this song and cried watching the video. Beautiful voice

  20. D.... T....

I love old videos and that's when feminism meant equality and not supremacy

  21. s.... ....

My mom had a Lifetime Movie playing and someone said something to the effect of, A my name is Allen, I’m gonna marry Allie... I immediately thought of this song! Such great song, That I hadn’t heard in YEARS, Probably since I was just a child when my Grandparents would always listen to Oldies Country. Such a shame that kids today don’t really get to hear GOOD Music, From back when there was no auto tune, and if you wanted a copy, you had to go buy it at a record store... Thanks for uploading!

  22. P.... T....

My mother passed away in 2006. I haven't she'd a tear for her. We had a very complicated relationship but I remember being a kid when this song came out and how excited my mom would get and she'd sing along to every word. I remember her voice sounding like an angel. Needless to say that I'm shedding those years now. I do love and miss you mom. KT Oslin is the most underappreciated female country singer of all time.

  23. D.... G....

I love her...wish music was the same .

  24. A.... 1....

Life is so short....never forget to stop and smell the roses every day! Thanks for reminding us KT. XO

Can not replace the80s just relive them thru such songs

  27. J.... W....

Gives me goose bumps it's so familiar

  28. 8.... L....

And that's the name I've been known by since this song came out, and I've always been okay with that. To all my high school friends that called me 80s Lady, and you know who you are...thanks. I'm still playing this song on repeat, as most of you know. 👍

  29. h.... h....

When they made videos with heart!!

  30. h.... h....

    Amazing song amazing talent!!!

  31. B.... F....

Now this is country music, that stuff here in 2019 is not country music. Kt Oslin just sings it like they way it is.

  32. C.... T....

I’ve loved this song since I was a kid. I’m 41 and was young when it came out and when I hear it I cry so much! I can’t say why but becoming a mother made it worse. Glad it’s here on YouTube!

  33. V.... M....

This one of my favorite songs by KT

  34. B.... D....

    Still golden ♥️

  35. P.... R....

Wow! Still able to bring me to tears. This was my Grams song. Man do I miss you & Mom. I love you! RIP I miss you both every single day. Gone too soon.

  41. t.... j....

I remember when I first saw this video & at first I was wonder why the flowers along with the high school & year then at the end of video I got it. It was to their friend who is no longer with them & left them way too soon. To them their friend is gone but never forgotten. That's my take. What do you think?

  42. D.... S....

K.T. Oslin, they don't make em like that anymore. Miss the ladies of 80's country.

  43. J.... G....

If this isn't country music then I don't know what is

  44. T.... O....

K.T. Oslin, one of the most important voices ever, in that she gave us a beautiful, versatile, very eclectic offering!

  45. H.... S....

I came here after hearing this on the radio a few minutes ago. I was 7 years old when it came out and last year was my 20-year reunion (I wasn't there as I was out of the country at the time). Even though the lyrics are dated the sentiment is still the same and it just hit me how much we've all changed in 20+ years while a few didn't make it that far. Excuse me, someone is cutting onions.

  46. A.... R....

This is better then the crapy country music that is on the radio today

  47. S.... K....

❤❤❤❤ what a wonderfully poignant song

  48. K.... P....

Love these seen i was little. I keep singing out of the blue. So I goggle it hear it is ...

  51. B.... T....

This is a jam. A term given to awesome songs. It is a tear jerker. Tells a story that is life. The end is realistic and sad. But good song.

  52. S.... Q....

    Still 2019# ##

  53. T.... T....

    That was a great song!

  54. M.... U....

This song could so easily be made into a movie.

  55. V.... I....

    this certainly hits home....

  56. M.... L....

    ~ Love ~

  57. l.... ....

Oh my word, I have been searching for this song/video for literal years! I could only remember snippets of the video and the little nursery rhyme-like part at the end from watching this with my mom as a kid 😲 I'm so glad I finally know the song name and who sang it....watching this brought back a lot of memories! Thanks for the upload!!

  58. D.... E....

I hate thes chost in bread motherfukers

  59. d.... ....

Grammy winners history brought me here.

  60. s.... ....

Still my favorite of KTO's songs. I was born in '70, grew up in the 80's, married and had kids in the 90's and had grand babies in the 2000's. This song is me and my bestie made over.

  61. T.... J....

I love this song, I think of my mom and her sisters everytime. And every time I cry. Love you K.T.! People just don't understand the story of life in the lyrics, it's an amazing song.

  62. C.... F....

Clint Allen ths is ur wife I want u to come bck

  63. w.... h....

Reminds me of my x wife and her sisters.

  64. C.... C....

  65. L.... J....

This song is so cute love it

  66. b.... ....

when we were just girls, and I mean LITTLE girls, we would sing this song... the part where they did their names along with who they would marry and what they would do... we had not a clue that some day we would be in our 40's and look back like the ladies in this video... it is so sentimental to me... to us... omgoodness these tears rolling down my cheeks... they are real... this song is a tribute to true lasting friendship… Thank You KT... it is always going to be a classic... ALWAYS

  67. R.... W....

    Love K.T.!

  68. E.... L....

This is still a favourite. Very moving...

  69. S.... B....

    S.... B....

    S.... B....

I know, what the hell happened to Trashville, oh I meant to say Nashville.

    w.... h....

Thank u for protecting 🇺🇸 us

    w.... h....

    Thankyou for ur service...

  71. B.... I....

If I want to hear some good Country music I surely don't turn on CMT anymore or so-called Country music radio stations because most of their music isn't Country and that makes me angry AND sad. Hey CMT and so-called Country stations, QUIT calling it Country because it's not!!!

  72. J.... H....

    I miss my girls

  73. B.... R....

Do you want a true tear jerker story. I work as life enrichment coordinator at an assisted living home. We had a resident to pass at the young age of 71. Had a fast aggressive dementia diagnosis. They played this at her funeral. Not a dry eye in church including me giving the eulogy. KT Oslin the most underrated country singer of all time. She could sing anything. ...

    B.... R....

Thanks for sharing your story! May your friend rest in peace.

My x is the perfect WOMAN I MESSED UP BAD . IF YOU'RE ANYTHING LIKE HER LOVE YOU LADY. SHE STILL LOVES ME .I love her 2 what a GOOD WOMAN.

    T.... N....

I'm a white man, a lot older than you, I lost my wife of 41 yrs 5 yrs ago, and she loved this woman K, T. Oslin and so do I, You're more than likely one hell of a beauty today, especially if you like this kind of music. It really shows that you have a good heart and soul and not because of your race or color, to me women are all the same, all beautiful, some just with a stronger personality that has been through a lot with men?? Almost every Tammy that I ever met had one hell of a big heart. check out her other songs called Do Ya, and then the other one called Hold me, 2 great songs.

    T.... N....

This record has always reminded me of my 5 sisters. I'm the only boy sibling and am the youngest.I love them all so much and they were all 80s ladies and have been very successful in life. They still treat me like a baby even though I'm a grandfather of 3 . Thank you K T for making this record. You have no idea how much it means to so many people.

  95. N.... M....

I'm the border line fool!!!!!!! I was born in the 70s though. So I'm a 90s lady. Thanks for the song though. I love it

  96. r.... o....

This lady can sing but they pushed her aside like they have so many other’s to have the garbage they have today on the radio.

    r.... o....

You are so right!!!! Just like they did to Gary Morris, one of the great, great vocalist's ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    r.... o....

    Very true!!!

  97. W.... D....

It took a few times, but I finally met my love Deborah

  98. B.... B....

This song slays me and I'm a man.

  99. T.... G....

Classic.....and the pipes on her though, I first broke into this beautiful song at 8-9 yrs old was my dads go to for sure.i still get a chill down the ole spine every time I hear the start of this great story.
