KRS-One - Mortal Thought Lyrics

Adjust that treble right now adjust the bass
Turn it up, stop frontin
C'mon, turn it up
Alright, check it out ninety-three lyrics, here we go
Bo!

I never want a jheri curl up under my hat
The woman in my bed has got to be strictly black
I never want money if my lyrics are wack
So I must, roc, the mic
I play only the reggae and I play only rap
I rock the African, the European, and Jap
Beneath I got to show you that I am all that
So I must, roc, the mic

Are you tired of lyrical liars, passing fliers
Wannabe MC's, but really good triers
Tripping over mic cords, getting you bored
A total fraud, this kind of thing I can't afford, so I
pick up the mic and kill it ill it top bill it
The cough is a skillet, where MC's get fried in it
You got beef chill it, blood I spill it
After seven long years of ripping the party and I'm still widdit
You call my name I don't think about suing ya
I come to the club with that BOOYAKA
Laughing while I'm doin ya the crowd is booin ya
Gimme one month, record for record on tape I'll ruin ya
Some likkle awl pon sound bwoy wan fi rule de city
His style is lookin pretty beats and rhymes are dibby dibby
Here comes the rootical ratical teacha
I'll eat ya defeat ya beat ya till ya stagger and ya teeth chatter
You'll be goin through convulsions as I flash data
Any rapper can be a decapitated rapper now what's the matter
You're full of more junk than a sausage
Let me show you what a real hip-hop artist

[DJ Premier cuts and scratches "My posse from the Bronx is thick!"]

Of course yeah I'm the most brilliant recording artist in your life
Never have to repeat a rhyme style twice, precise
In a lyrical drought like water to your lips oh yes my lyrics will suffice
I'm nice, like beans and rice, I am delicious
Who's the freshest lyricist on the mic, you don't want to fuck with Kris is
Lyric for lyric rhyme for rhyme style for style I break you like dishes
Either you come fully correct or the lyrics you simply makin wishes
We got no time for fake black leaders and dreamers blowin wishes
you'se a fraud, I mean a fraud like in fraudulation
I know what it is, the crown of rhyme supremacy you're tastin
And yes, before the flavor hits your greedy tongue
You get ripped up by KRS-One
Now, lyrics, somebody want lyrics, from the lyrical terrorist
Here's a little somethin for you all to remember Kris, and remember this
I am no pessimist, more of an optimist
Activist revolutionist, yes the hardest artist
And the smartest, Premier, spark this

[Premier cuts and scratches "My posse from the Bronx is thick!"]

  32. D.... M....

Why not?E.Sermon's catalogue is nothing but classics obviously. He produced for everyone. You might need to check your rep as a HipHop Head.

  33. P.... K....

LMAO sensitive ass nigga...haha u put GZA in your top 5 DOA??? lmao i cant argue wit u thats the dumbest shyt i ever heard...even ahead of Meth? HAHA! ur probably one of those ppl that thinks theres a such thing as a bad opinion...since ur head still stuck up the early 90s ass and u clearly cant let it go ima let u take this argument cuz it CLEARLY means more to u then me..."fraud" LMFAOOOO

  34. g.... ....

You have to be brain dead, it would only explain your brainless statements. My top 5 is embarrassingly bad? You're a moron, you couldn't come up with a better list if you tried, but judging by your top 5 producers list it would probably have 2 chainz in the top 10.ROFL. Dismiss yourself from this KRS video clown, you're not fooling anyone fraud. No, I don't keep up with those weak ass producers that you idolize especially if Swizz is the "best" in the game which is disgrace in itself.

  35. P.... K....

lmao Marley Marl passed the torch to everyone genius...he passed it to pete rock too because he was pretty much lyk the OG hip-hop producer cuz of the juice crew...lmao rookie? good one smh & he is though...its pretty much a fact just because you dont like him doesnt not make him a legend his clout is tremendous lmao i cant go on tho ur top 5 GOAT rappers is too embarassingly bad...quick question? do u keep up with the new & current producers in the game now? i wanna know your top 5 for that

  36. g.... ....

Swizz is a legend? Damn that's the most fraudulent thing I've read in a while, quit joking yourself fraud. Remove your face from Kanye's balls, that clown's credibility has been slipping away ever since college dropout. Premo always acknowledges that he was given the torch from Marely Marl, which he based his entire framework on rookie ROFL. Your knowledge is embarrassing freshman, stop acting like you know what legendary work actually is.

  37. P.... K....

its not even that though he has extremem amounts of respect from a wide range of artists...cmon even Bono from U2 fucks wit him...and he keeps gettin called the man is a legend if not top 5 hes def top 20...lmao you brought up LES lmao thats the illest blast from the past...even Kanye himself said Swizz is the best alive...and you said Premo got passed the torch from Marley Marl? LMAO Premo was & is YEARS past marley marl ever was thats deserving of a slap..try to find ppl to agree with that

  38. g.... ....

That summer on smash joint on Life is good is straight up garbage. Just proves that even working with Nas, all Swizz could ever hope to produce is mediocre trash rofl. I find it hilarious that you still think he's top 5 material, even inside of top 20 producers is laughable. I'll give him credit for making a hand full of commercial hits, but other than that his catalog is far from impressive in terms of actual GOOD production, no matter who he's worked with.

  39. P.... K....

lmao im gonna guess ur one of those underground heads whos favorite rappers are hasbeens swept under the rug and cant catch a fuckin beat like Canibus lmao...iight ill put Dre over Swizz true but u told me to name classics he dropped and they are all classics...if he's so wack why did he get called to do beats for both biggie and pacs posthomous albums, ice cube...you said Nas was done with his classics? stillmatic wasnt a classic? even 50 squashed his beef wit him how do grammys not count?

  40. P.... K....

wow lmao Jigga My Nigga, Party Up, all Eve's singles DMX multi platinum #1 albums, Good Times by Styles P, cmon son what are you saying he won a grammy for On to the Next One, he put out mad Nas tracks, Banned From TV is a NY anthem...lmao my argument ass my nigga? u said J Dilla whos on just about any top 5 youll ever find isnt in the same league as niggas who constantly bigged him up? lmao

  41. g.... ....

Name a classic out of any of those artists that Swizz worked with and produced that was even near a top 50 track. ROFL Fat joe was done after the represent album/jealous one's. Busta rhymes, Cool J, Nas, Snoop were already done with their classics. Your argument is complete ass, it's almost as bad as saying kanye is a top 5 producer because he worked with OGs pass their prime.

  42. P.... K....

yo you gotta be crazy!!!! sub-par? Jay-Z, Nas, DMX, Fat Joe, Big Pun, The LOX, Eve, NORE, Foxy Brown, Lil Kim, Camron, LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg & Mya sub-par...lol im done this is too funny

  43. g.... ....

Swizz is mediocre at best that worked with sub-par rappers from the early 2000's, you'll embarrass yourself if you claim any real "classics" out of that catalog. Don't be delusional, Premo knows he was passed the torch from Marley marl. The only producers in reaching distance of him were RZA and pete rock/buckwild.

  44. P.... K....

Dilla isnt in the same league??? LMAO both of them know thats a fact that hes up there wit em u sound crazy for that look up DJ Premier on Dilla alone...and what!? Swizzys catalogue is crazy...name on rapper that was poppin in the late 90s and early 00s that still raps that he hasnt worked with

  45. g.... ....

Yeah, let's be real, you have Swizz beatz as a number 4 slot. That's a bigger joke than listing RZA outside of a top 3 slot. Jdilla isn't even in the same league as Premo or RZA. Also, I doubt he really needed to produce outside the wu-tang camp since the list of classics produced speak for themselves.

    g.... ....

Dj Premier, jdilla, Madlib, 9th wonder, Hi tek. That's my top 5 list.

  46. P.... K....

`nah i switched him to 7 and buc & roc at 8...but cmon be real...all of RZA's serious hits were wu tang joints...he never made serious noise as a producer outside that like the others have

  47. g.... ....

you put RZA at 8? Gonna get slapped up

  48. k.... ....

sounds quite like Digable Planets - Im Cool Like Dat

  49. B.... C....

    nononononononononononononononono

yeah, so true. me, i'm white but where the fuck would i get any money? im fed up with those rich bitch ass kids. they dont know shit about real rap ,fuck'em! and believe me, that's not only an american problem. fake bitches live here in europe ass well, keep it real

  84. A.... D....

what seperates g rap from kane and rakim is not a lack of skill but kane and rakim have classic albums where as g rap has great albums but no undisputed classics all three of them are top 6 of all time imo

  85. k.... ....

it doesnt matter what it means. when krs speaks, you just listen because he's the teacher!

  86. T.... ....

krs on is the best of the old school rap my favorite is 9mm go bang

  87. T.... ....

really 50 cent even threw the bottles back at those british bastards, lol lol

  88. J.... B....

I don't necessarily think that G Rap could hold his own against Kane or Rakim (again, this is all personal opinion though). G Rap is/was hella nice, but he was too hit-or-miss; I haven't heard a Kane or Rakim song that I've disliked, but I can't say the same for G Rap. Also, you're right to say that Nas wasn't doing anything particularly original with Illmatic, but the narrative structure of his songs was what drew you in.

  89. n.... ....

Illmaic was lyrically amazing not because Nas was on something diffewrent lyrically but because he brought back a lyricism reminiscent of G Rap. Honestly, If G Rap was a ladies man and didn't have the lisp, he probably would have been greater than Kane and Rakim. Nas was not an innovator but being Nas, was very gifted lyrically, especially given the calibre of artists that were coming out and N.Y. trying to follow the west's influence, he was more a breath of fresh air.

  90. J.... B....

If we're talking strictly early to mid 90s, I gotta say Nasty Nas. KRS is obviously a great, but Illmatic was lyrically next level; beatmakers on that were beyond real too.

  91. M.... T....

    what a classic beat

  92. n.... ....

KRS-1 vs,. Nas? That ain't easy but i will say 1 thing. Kris has never strayed away from what we call the unwritten laws of hiphop. He has always stayed hiphop. If Nas was emceeing in the 80's, he'd have been considered amazing but with oochie walie, hw would have fallen off. Kris never did.

  93. J.... m....

Quoting nas "the greatest emcee alive"

  94. 5.... ....

    Krs-One has the best flow.

  95. B.... ....

can't be compared, both sick mc's...Bring NY back!

  96. i.... ....

One of the best MC's of all time. FACT

  97. D.... D....

yeea i definitly feel where your commin from but im a broke ass nigga and i promised myself if i ever get goin steady with some nice cash im gunna buy every good album i downloaded except for like the biggie and pac and big l an dead rappers cuz obvs tht aint supportin them

  98. M.... ....

    Krs, is only one.

  99. M.... ....

big up respect love his voice and flow. sick beat too. nice thanks for upload
