Kris Kristofferson - For The Good Times Lyrics
Don't look so sad. I know it's over
But life goes on and this world keeps on turning
Let's just be glad we had this time to spend together
There is no need to watch the bridges that we're burning
Hold your warm and tender body close to mine
Hear the whisper of the raindrops
Blow softly against my window
Make believe you love me one more time
For the good times
I'll get along; you'll find another,
And I'll be here if you should find you ever need me.
Don't say a word about tomorrow or forever,
There'll be time enough for sadness when you leave me.
Lay your head upon my pillow
Hold your warm and tender body
Close to mine
Hear the whisper of the raindrops
Blow softly against my window
Make believe you love me
One more time
For the good times

Once again another song stole from the black man that was song horribly REST EASY AL GREEN there's simply no way to compare
Al Green did a great cover of this song. a lot of folks don't know it
Great writer of songs ...love Elvis version and Perry comos too..this kinda sounds adulterous 🤣
Another "Great poet of the common man".
Leonard Cohen owes his entirity to KK
As with all his songs he sings with so much emotion best ever 💓💝💋🏴
Love this song and this video. The lady at 2:09 is so captivating, after years of coming back to this video over and over again i finally twigged its Rachael from Blade Runner.
I don't think there's a more beautiful love song than this

I'm now 79 and Kris was a large part of the music I listened to in my youth. Ken Burns has done a documentary entitled "Country Music" and in one of the segments he devotes much time to Kris Kristofferson. I was amazed to learn much about him I did not know. I always thought "Me and Bobbi McGee" was about Janis Joplin, but it wasn't. However, Janis did record her own amazing version of this song. Kris's manager or producer had a secretary named Bobbi McKee" and he suggested Kris write a song about her. Kris misspelled her last name when he wrote the classic song still played today. He was an amazing person and if you discover a past about him which you may not have known, you will be surprised. He was a Captain in the Army and a helicopter pilot assigned to teach at West Point. On his way there he stopped in Nashville, and Country Music hasn't been the same since.
Thanks for your comment. It's always the same, learning about Kris leads to big surprises and great appreciation for his work and life, you think that would make a wonderful movie about a unique life and you're wondering why the hell nobody has told you about him before 😊 Right? 😉
i never knew Kris wrote this... he got major $$$ because the iconic "AL Green" sung the hell outta this song.
A few beers ....... I cryed
so a wonderful song 💕💕💕
Allah be praised, respect humanity
Fantastico, maravillosa melodía , estoy llena de emoción , a mis recuerdos . Gracias
I love Kris but Ray Price killed it with this song.
Not surprising Kris was always told he couldn't sing his own music by the record labels and I love his voice him and Willie are my favorite country singers to this day.
I am Indonesia but ...
I am very like this song
Shame Kris and Rita split up
For the Good Times ♥
One of the greatest storytellers
Such a beautiful and yet, such a sad but, uplifting song and.....one of my late mother's very favourite songs...whether by the writer KK or, by Ray Price or, by Perry Como....the beauty is the song and the quality and the simplicity of its composition...
Sublime. KK may not appreciate those chord changes, 0:34-0:42, and how beautiful they are. Seems to skim over it.
Perry Como, Dean Martin dont let those notes go (Percey Faith too).
I will always remember these times and I pray some day you do too.
Great LOVE is never buried or forgotten. Someday in a another place or another time perhaps. I am truly sorry it wasnt forever in this place or time for you. I hope you find what your searching for. May God watch over you always.
Shakey.
Again Thanks dear man.
엔날 생각이 납니다.증말 그날이 그립습니다
Listening to this singing poem in 2019, still...
don`t look so sad, I know it`s over 😢😢😢
Lu, I miss you so much
I have always believed, and I still believe, that Kristofferson can't sing worth a damn. His voice is like any average guy's at best.
...but no average guy can write songs like he can. I don't know what your problem is, but please don't leave nasty comments at a channel that is dedicated to one of the best songwriters ever. Just try to show some respect and don't listen to him if you don't like to listen to him. No-one forces you to listen to him here. Go to the cover singers and listen there instead of leaving comments here. I actually don't want to waste my time on replying. You'll find here videos edited in love and adoration of the music and the work of this living legend. I'm from Germany btw, and I think he is a national treasure.
@biggestkkfan BIGGEST K. K. Fan.
Thanks for writing out me thoughts. Love and Peace and Kris Kris will live forever in our hearts.
Lasse S. - Bothfield, Hanover, N.-Germany
I remember my Tatay & Nanay ko 😭 they passed away now both.
amazing song! i heard you sing it in San Diego tonight! It touched my heart!
John Norman!
You know it's funny I was watching it interview with Conway Twitty and he said that he wrote this song and I know damn site well that Kris Kristofferson is the one that wrote the song.! But he tried to take credit for it.! Chris was a good writer and a good singer God bless him may he live long and prosper
Man I love this song but I always thought its been to "produced" all it really needs is a guitar. maybe two guitars and an accordion. Kris's voice got more than enough soul to sing it.
I’ve been crazy about him since I was 14–saw him last night in Athens, GA. He was awesome—basking in his soulful words today. He does speak to my soul.❤️
I am going to see him at Gateshead, North East of England in June. I can't wait.
Is This Kris singing ?? dont sound like him hes going in and out of key slightly I love this singer/composer, but this vocal is terrible is this a later recording ???
yeah, it is him. From his first album "Kristofferson" 1970. I do love his vocals, they are perfect to his songs. Can't see where they would be in and out of key...
Brilliant. Kristofferson hits the soul perfectly. What a song.
Once Al Green sang this song, no other version sounds right. All I hear is Al!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe for you. Never for me.
@biggestkkfan Agree! It's Kris's song, and the only other version I really love is Ray Price!
I cried it
funeral song of my grandfather who was like a father to me. keep listening to it everytime im drunk and start crying
Que vomitivo, parece que estuviera drogado. Que fome..
What a great song, also Dean Martin had a beautiful version of this wonderful song
When my grandmother (Gram) passed had to play this in a Catholic church ( her belief) on stereo. She spoke to me while I was the only one who cleaned her house out,and gave away most everything to less fortunate in back of her place.Love u Gram ! You are my legend!
Kris wrote at least three of the great love songs Me n Bobby Magee For the good times ! Help me make it through the night !
great song but it took Ray Price to make it a no. 1 hit
I am 58 yo and this the first time I heard this..I always thought this was a Ray Price song goes to show you never stop learning.
Kris Kristofferson is the most prolific song writer...Ever!
Wasn’t bad in the eyes either.
Huge fan!
You sound like my Bird (Girl) in the UK!..:o)-on.
Your “Bird” knows talent! 😉
"Seems like You do as well Carla, are you 'Poetic' also?? :o)
I’m a poet in my own head and soul. But, It could definitely never be put to music.
I’ll leave that to the professionals 😂🎶😂🎶
Respect
For the good times
This wild man is still here !! He was wild in " real life " like he was in A STAR is BORN " ...KK has wrote some of THE BEST SONGS EVER !! I am 55 today and this song has just brought tears to my eyes on my birthday ! ....anybody over 50 knows what I mean !! .......WOW life goes by too fast !
Nicky Depaola Happy Birthday! 😊
Wonderful but so sad
We have already lost so many of those marvelously gifted traditional country players, song writers and singers. Once Kris goes on to be with the Lord, I will cry as I did when Chet and others left us.
Bring me back all memories no more of these music.
Kristofferson was and is one of the all time great poet/songwriters. I don't think his voice ever came close to matching his writing, but so many recorded so much of his work that he's likely heard as much as anyone ever has been. From Johnny Cash to Janis Joplin to Willie Nelson his words are heard by hundreds of millions. Pretty elite company Kris resides in. Van Zandt is another whose words had a magical quality. Just words, but strung together in such a way as to capture feelings like few ever could.
Discovered Kris in 1970. Still on love with him.
I always loved his music. He is one of a kind.
Thank you Kris
is this song about his divorce?
Tomaso G I think it is. But not about his divorce from Rita, but from his first wife Fran.
Compare these amazing tunes with rap and hip-hop today!
SUPER...
this is the best singalong music ever!
If this isn't THE BEST song about breaking up, I don't know what is. The pain and yet triumph over pain all in one song. Deep and mature words.
A Great Song Kris. You are one of the Best.
Yea...al green sings this sooooo much better!!!!!
Angie Cruz That's YOUR opinion. To me, no-one can sing it better than Kris. It's his words and his song and he does know what he is singing about... You can feel and hear it. But if you like Al Green's cover better... that's up to you. But, why didn't you just write, "I like Al Green's cover much better"?
Крис - ТАЛАНТ ! 😎👍
Дай Бог ему здоровья,
амин.
Михаил Иванов Da! 👍
this guy is fab i love him
"make believe you love me one more time" are the saddest words i've ever heard
** * **
Just as Kris' eyes are. Sad.
"And make believe you love me, one more time .... for the good times". One of the most beautiful lines of the 20th century
"I like so much him"
Loved this man and all of his music!
Bless You Kris forever
"I like his songs from 40 years ago."
Belíssima interpretação, só tu mesmo Kris, melhora a cada dia, inclusive hoje.
Great song....but Elvis 's rendition was better ...
..
It s about unhopless women
I Love The Song
I enjoyed this song - but I'm sure everyone does know this is not Kris.
ErnestSC ErnestSC What/ Who is not Kris??? Don't get what you mean...
Sometimes the only thing one can say is "I SCREWED UP"! Being a Musician for nearly 60 years, heard this song by EVERY Artist imaginable, Played every version - including my own version - and being a huge KK Fan, I was CERTAIN this was someone doing their own cover! I WAS WRONG! Apologize to everyone - especially "biggestkkfan"! To my ears, the Timbre was wrong; the phrasing was wrong; the enunciation incorrect; etc. I guess things change in nearly 50 years! (Including my HEARING!) Once again, my sincerest apologies!
ErnestSC ErnestSC No problem, no-one is perfect 😉 Keep watching and thanks for commenting.
@biggestkkfan. Thank you for your note. I sincerely appreciate your kind words. In today's world, I was really expecting to be "Blasted"! Bless You from an "Old Man"!
ErnestSC ErnestSC you're welcome 😊
Kris ...more power
Great job as actor singer composer...I'm your greatest....,😘
what a damage a bottles content can cause!
A Good Song & Singer.
Kris never had a perfect voice, but his voice was full of emotion and always tells the story of the songs he writes and sings. So much more meaningful than a perfect voice......
I meant Rita and Chris at the Hollywood Amphitheater and either the mid-seventies or somewhere in there. I think Chris was doing the movie the star is born with Barbra Streisand because he was practicing, sliding down the wall very slowly in a tux. Rita was walking through the crowd and talking to everyone and I really felt bad for her but I don't know if Chris was preparing for a movie part or if it was in reality what it was? Anyway we had a great time backstage. My last name is really Gentry and the president of the academy ruined my career but that's okay. I was in a duet with my sister has the Gentry sisters and we sang on The Rick Nelson circuit. I sure miss Rick. Hope that Chris is doing alright Rita as well. So sorry they got divorced.
The only thing as great as his songwriting was his body. He's 81 now. I wonder how he's getting along.
One of Kris's best songs!!
This is my parents' wedding song from 1970.
Oh, the memories 😟
LOVE THIS SONG
Such tenderness, so nostalgic, haunting and evocative of pure and loving melody, sung by Kris, perfect!
Please, I'd love to know: the scenes that start at 0.58, what movie is? TIA.
Teresa Estrade This scene is from the movie Act of passion. Please look in the info box under the screen for some more info.
Teresa Estrade No problem 😊 You're welcome!
We have
It seems like forever since i started wishing that KK did NOT take up acting.
More than 30 years i'm sure. How many great songs did he NOT write?
