Kris Kristofferson - Casey's Last Ride Lyrics
Casey joins the hollow sound of silent people walking down
The stairway to the subway in the shadows down below
Following their footsteps through the neon-darkened corridors
Of silent desperation, never speakin' to a soul
The poison air he's breathin' has the dirty smell of dying
But Casey minds the arrows and ignores the fatal echoes
Of the clickin' of the turnstiles and the rattle of his chains
“Oh!” she said, “Casey, it's been so long since I've seen you!”
“Here” she said, “just a kiss to make a body smile!”
“See” she said, “I've put on new stockings just to please you!”
“Lord!” she said, “Casey, can you only stay a while?”
Casey leaves the under-ground and stops inside the Golden Crown
For something wet to wipe away the chill that's on his bone
Who reach for any thing they can to keep from goin' home
Standin' in the corner Casey drinks his pint of bitter
Never glancing in the mirror at the people passing by
Then he stumbles as he's leaving and he wonders if the reason
Is the beer that's in his belly, or the tear that's in his eye
“Oh!” she said, “Casey, it's been so long since I've seen you!”
“Here” she said, “just a kiss to make a body smile!”
“See” she said, “I've put on new stockings just to please you!”
“Lord!” she said, “Casey, can you only stay a while?”

Caseys story is the story of a man who’s living life blindly and wondering in what seems like a dark underground tunnel. There’s all this noise but he doesn’t hear it. And so he walks and follows the arrows cuz that’s all he knows how to do. And then he see a stair way and light peering through so he walks up it because it’s the only way out of the darkness. And he sees her.. And the other men like him. She welcomes him back. But he can’t stay because following the arrows is all he knows how to do.
But the sad part is he’s going in circles.
That and the fact that he has a woman of his own and a family and he still visits his mistress

'I don't sleep I just dream'
Motherfucker. very super song
Piece of art
"casey leaves the under ground and stops inside the golden crown" reminds me of the yellow king
Then he stumbles as he's leaving and he wonders if the reason,
Is the beer that's in his belly or the tear that's in his eye.
MUHTEŞEM AQ
Excellent song....! Love Kristofferson's music.☮☮☮☮☮

I rember this song many many years ago.I was 5 6 It took awhile to understand what he was singing about
Casey joins the hollow sound of silent people walking down
The stairway to the subway in the shadows down below
Following their footsteps through the neon-darkened corridors
Of silent desperation, never speakin' to a soul
The poison air he's breathin' has the dirty smell of dying
'Cause it's never seen the sunshine and it's never felt the rain
But Casey minds the arrows and ignores the fatal echoes
Of the clickin' of the turnstiles and the rattle of his chains
"Oh!" she said, "Casey, it's been so long since I've seen you!"
"Here" she said, "just a kiss to make a body smile!"
"See" she said, "I've put on new stockings just to please you!"
"Lord!" she said, "Casey, can you only stay a while?"
Casey leaves the under-ground and stops inside the Golden Crown
For something wet to wipe away the chill that's on his bone
Seeing his reflection in the lives of all the lonely men
Who reach for any thing they can to keep from goin' home
Standin' in the corner Casey drinks his pint of bitter
Never glancing in the mirror at the people passing by
Then he stumbles as he's leaving and he wonders if the reason
Is the beer that's in his belly, or the tear that's in his eye
"Oh!" she said, "I suppose you seldom think about me."
"Now" she said, "Now that you've a family of your own."
"Still" she said, "It's so blessed good to feel your body."
"Lord!" she said, "Casey, it's a shame to be alone."
))) -1.
Thank you
Casey leaves the underground and stops inside the golden crown for something wet to wipe away the chill that's on his bones

AGA BE ŞARKIYI DİZİDE ÇIKTIĞINDAN BERİ DİNLİYORUM ZAMAN NE ÇABUK GEÇİYOR
Johnny Cash's take on this song is stunning as well. Actually, sometimes its even better than the original.
Rumen Angelov not even close to kris just my opinion
No, it doesn't compare to Waylon's version.
J'ai toujours rêvé d'être un gangster
Its the chemicals he's breathing.
I haven't watched television in over 3 years, but after I somehow found 1 of theses songs from a soundtrack to the show, I feel I must check it out. Helluva choice in music, especially this song/songwriter. Nothing with these choices of music could ever be bad.
So, did you ?
The chorus (the slow bit) sounds so Leonard Cohen.
Kris Kristofferson is a big fan of Leonard Cohen. He once said he wanted the line, like a bird on a wire, like a drunk in a midnight choir, I have tried in my way to be free, written on his tomb stone.
the best series ever
This is incredibly genuine. Music, lyrics and the beautiful vocals made this a true piece of art! I would love to see a videoclip for this masterpiece.
Any ideas what the songs about?
I couldnt say for sure but.i know he has a daughter named Casey, who is a.wonderful and beautiful person....the daughter of Kris and Rita Coolidge. She is a friend who I admire and being a proud father myself, as Kris surely is...id guess it is in some way a trubute to her
+robert truxal written way before she was born..but maybe he named her after the song!
Sounds like Casey has a lady who he visits for some comfort and she's quite attached to him.
You got a demon little man.
"Seeing his reflection in the lives of all the lonely men who reach for anything they can to keep from going home."
"I can see your soul at the edges of your eyes..."
it's corrosive like acid
Vincenzo. 667 You've got a demon on you, little man.

"And I don't like your face... It makes me wanna do things to it."

Good for you! My man...
Hahah true
Aside from being played in the scene where Rust has Ginger in the bar ready to meet the meth guy, this song is a work of art.
My favourite TD soundtrack of all
This would work as an opening theme for a season, in my opinion.
Wicked tune
I can see your soul at the edges of your eyes...
It's corrosive, like acid.
You've got a demon little man.
@taistelutomaatti I see you again, im putting you down.
@taistelutomaatti And I don't like your face....it makes me want to do things to it.
This song sounds like a countrified Crimson King. I like it.
I love how it suddenly turns into a Leonard Choen song at 1:00
Solusist it

Seems you may have stumbled upon the key to the meaning of this piece. Congratulations.
