Krauss, Alison - I've Got That Old Feeling Lyrics

No matter what I say or do,
I just can't seem to get inside your heart
What have I done wrong?
Lately you're so far away,
You just don't seem to hold me like you used to
Something's going on

I've got that old feeling, you're leaving
I'm so tired of goodbye
I can't wait on your love forever
While you change your mind

Morning finds us face to face
I feel you staring through me while I'm talking
Familiar looks I recognize the same old looks that said goodbye the last time
Something I'm used to

I've got that old feeling, you're leaving
I'm so tired of goodbye
I can't wait on your love forever
While you change your mind

There are a handful of songs I can remember hearing for the first time; I can remember the time of year, what I was doing and where I was. This is one of those songs. It was cold outside, and I was mopping my foyer floor. I had CMT on in the distance and when this came on, I had to set down that mop and get to the TV. I've been to a lot of concerts but I have seen her and US the most. She is unreal. In a good way! Not only can she sing and play but she can arrange like nobody's business. This lady was born to be a musician. No doubt.

  5. D.... J....

I was introduced to Allison by the song writer of this song Sidney Cox's mother Mrs Marie. I was visiting in their home and she showed me the record and asked if I had ever heard of her. That the Cox Family was writing and singing with her now. She and they have only gotten better and better over time.

  6. R.... H....

The prettiest voice I know of

  7. N.... A....

The haircuts are ridiculous in this video. Good music though.

  8. C.... D....

She has the most calming and soothing demeanor.

  9. N.... T....

I remember hearing this on a album of new artist in 92. I was like HOLY COW who is that voice. Too bad around this time country radio would be in its beginning stages of leaving real country music behind. In exchange for a poppy slick sound. It would take several years and a mild resurrection of bluegrass in the late 90s before she really started to get big. One of the top 3 best vocalists i have ever heard.

    F.... M....

from wikipedia: Her father was a German immigrant who came to the United States in 1952 and taught his native language. Her mother, of German and Italian descent, is the daughter of artists.

  20. R.... H....

This would be the first Alison Krauss song i ever heard. I fell in love with that voice. Played it over and over.
That was the mid nineties i think

    R.... H....

Me too. I stopped dead in my tracks when that Video came on CMT and was captivated throughout the entire song. I've loved everything she done since. It's funny that Jerry Douglas was in that video because he didn't come to join Alison Krauss & Union Station until many years later. Alison was like 19 in this video.

    R.... H....

    Robert Hughes me too!

  21. P.... T....

Love it, just love. Thanks for sharing!!

    C.... B....

HER PICTURE, AND VOICE, SHOULD BE IN THE DICTIONARY..UNDER THE WORD "BEAUTIFUL"

  24. S.... M....

In 1991, I rarely listened to country music. I was in a borrowed car that only had an AM radio and the only station playing music was a country station. I heard this song and was blown away. I picked up her compilation album and when I heard "Steel Rails", I was hooked and have been a fan ever since. If you ever get a chance to see her and Union Station live, do it!

@Rick Sanchez you forget about adam steffey--possibly one of the best mandolin players of all time. Allison used to be so shy adam did all the talking for her-left the band. if anyone out there in computer land knows-please respond. I personally liked the old and modest Alison-before she has a nose job and started wearing sexy clothes and started getting hair extensions. I like the old Alison who was wearing jeans and a plaid shirt-was and had a little bit more weight  on her. sometimes lately she does duets and oversings the lead singer. sometimes lately I watch her and she reminds me of celine dion--(from Saturday night live)  gastemeyer plays celine doing a skit I am the best singer in the world.  really Alison start singing your old staple steel rails--instead of singing all of Robert Plant's old zeppelin songs. however I do recognize how many grammy awards she has won. and I love the song she did with Jamey James on the  Dave Letterman show. watch that--she introduced me to Jamey and he sings a lot of real good songs. sorry to be so lengthy--I was watched her at the dalonaga bluegrass festival in geogia when she was only about 16--and later I bought all of her records-and then my daughter and her friends started liking her as well akus is one of the best bands of all time. they are all pitch perfect live and without autotune.

    R.... H....

+1pupblacky Hey I get what your saying...we all love people and how they change, and sometimes it's hard to change with them...I don't like that she did the Plant stuff although she did one great song on that album...I love her with Union Station, Vince Gill too but Tyminski, Block and Bales...Can't beat those guys...Oh I almost forgot the one and only Jerry Douglas who is also one of the best ever imo.

    R.... H....

+Rick Sanchez thanks for being so nice. I just stumbled upon her in a blue grass festival in dalongea. she was like 17.  I just like that ole country gal. not a Barbie. there are still songs she sings at almost every concert--like steel rails. of course I love jerry but there are plenty of good dobro or steel guitar players before he hit the pike. my most prized possession is a book I inherited from my my mom-the likes of George jones. the osbourne brothers. bill Monroe. dolly and porter wagoner. I was in bluegrass heaven-and never knew it until I got older --no need to respond. I don't like to many e mails-- too busy.

  27. E.... T....

She looked sooooo cute back then.
Now she's sexy sultry and mmm mmm, Campbell's good!

    Better with age.

    E.... T....

"better with age" sure the same with a good wine from Illinois, Champagne :)

    E.... T....

My testosterone never lies. Younger is better.

Just saw this,  Realized I saw her in late 1990 , In Syracuse with Allison Brown and some other players, but before AKUS.  She was on her first tour, and was 19 years old, spoke to her after the show , she was so refreshing, and excited,  Have seen AKUS several times though the years, but that first time was really special...

  29. M.... F....

    Old school

  30. n.... ....

The most beautiful song by a female artist not to reach #1 on the Billboard country charts back in 1990. Dang, what an awesome heartfelt song. Makes me want to take a hike in a snowstorm in Colorado in January.

  31. j.... ....

Who the FUCK are these players????? With the exception of Alison and Jerry, really, who the FUDGE are these peeps?????

  32. j.... ....

Goddamned Jerry Douglas with a pony tail. That and this video is F'in comical. Still though it's awesome.
