Krall, Diana - You're Looking At Me Lyrics
Who had the boys turning hand springs?
Crazy to lov her claimed she
Who could so misunderstand things?
You're looking at me
Sure as a human could be
Who wound up losing the contest?
You're looking at me
You're looking at me
Where is that girl?
Who was certain her charms couldn't fail
Where is that girl?
Believed every word of this ridiculous tale
Thought she'd swept him off his feet
Who woke to find her dreams shattered?
Might I repeat
Might I repeat for you
Needn't strain your eyes
To see what I want you to see
That's right
You're looking at me

Krall, Diana You're Looking At Me Comments
thank you
fantastic
I discovered Diana Krall for myself a little over twenty-one years ago. Just thinking of that gives me pause now.
I played "You're Looking at Me" for the first time in September of '98 and got hung-up on "You needn't strain your eyes to see..." and it came to haunt me just six months later. I hear this song now and I go right back in time and smile as I remember.
All of this and Bobby Troup too!
The shuffle-play miracle that is YouTube circa 2019 just offered me this: As if to say, You're a guitarist – you adore Diana Krall. You love Bobby (Route 66) Troup! Bet you've forgotten how much you loved this decades-old recording – Diana, alone together with one of the greatest living pickers -- Russell Malone. You saw them 'live' in the '90s, at Winnipeg's Jazz Festival. That's right, Mark: We're looking at YOU!!”
Just yesterday, at Sinatra Family, I described a song as “best thing Bobby Troup ever did – apart from getting hitched to Julie London . . . ” He penned this lyric:
Who was so sure of her conquest?
Sure as a human could be
Who wound up losing the contest?
You're looking at me
You're looking at me . . .
From Diana's earliest 'tribute' album – "ALL FOR YOU – a dedication to the Nat King Cole Trio." Which has it's own Wiki entry:
All for You: A Dedication to the Nat King Cole Trio is the third studio album by Canadian singer Diana Krall. It was released on March 12, 1996 by Impulse! Records and GRP Records in tribute to the Nat King Cole Trio.[2]
Peak position US Jazz charts No 3. Year end Sales: Gold in Canada 50,000; Gold in U.S. 500,000
Thanks Iris Sarai for sharing. Celebrated at Sinatra Family -- Forum: https://sinatrafamily.com/forum/showthread.php/50225-My-Favorite-Version-%28yours-too-%29?p=1278466#post1278466
Bobby Troup did more than write 'Route 66'.
This is a great arrangement of this song. Diana is fabulous
This perfect combo of Diana and Russell. She’s in her best with Russell’s guitarr in every song they do. That smooooth....❤️
LIEVE DIANA BEDANKT VOOR DEZE UIT ZONDERIJKE MOOIE YOU TUBE
VEEL LIEFDE WOUTER JOANNES
This song made the Big List, first list of the best music on the internet.
A lot if it, Garfinkel and Ruttenberg is her Aryan looks and white supremacists' fantasies than exceptional talent. Nice song, though. There are a lot better jazz singers if you love this museum art form. Music Choice* (Channels) has a few channels devotees will enjoy. My favourite is Swing and Singers.
You sound like a resentful downer. Who listens to a lovely song and starts talking about white supremacists' fantasies? Maybe she isn't the best singer ever. Neither is Sinatra. His range is limited and his phrasing elementary. So what? He's pretty good. And so is Diana.
There's no need to throw shade about Aryan this and white supremacy that. Take some advice from a top notch jazz vocalist: Don't Worry; Be Happy. Peace :)
ANY "top-notch vocalist" such as you think you are, would NEVER say Sinatra isn't one of the best -- I bet you are nothing to listen to at all (never heard of you). And Diana is very good, though her producers need to cut out the sexy pics -- so superfluous and unnecessary. If you can't recognize Sinatra was about the best there ever was or ever will be, you need to study the facts! You have a very elevated opinion of yourself!
such a groovy babe Dianna Krall
Love the voice and a great song ...
Thank you so much for sharing
her tribute to the Nat Cole Trio that had no drummer but sometimes had the great Snuffy Smith on Fiddle dates back to his his work in the late 1940''s to mid 1950's. This song plus Blame it On My Youth are on one of the greatest singing jazz albums ever - Nat Cole Trio - After Midnight - 1956. Aside from being beautiful and talented, Ms Krall is also extremely respectful and elegant in dedicating and doing covers of great Nat Cole Trio songs like this.
I believe it's her at her best. I was privileged to see her, without Russell and Christian, at The Annenberg Center in Philadelphia in 1999. During the performance of "I'm an Errand Girl for Rhythm" she hit the keys so hard it sounded like the piano exploded.
Who does not want to look at and to listen to Diana..?

Notevole: molto classica; ma proprio il classico è sempre moderno !
Gotta laugh...I have 4 brothers, and all but one of us love sexy woman's feet...
Perfection!! She makes each song her own, and adds nuances no one else can.
Nadie dice el jazz como Diana Krall. Preciosa esta interpretación......
Diana is amazing beautiful woman and existent jazz player... I admire her as a singer and a beautiful woman! She is something what men are looking for....
I wish to meet this girl, but it will never happen, unfortunately......
I love you, Diana, Babe.... You are in my dreams.....
Never knew this song existed, but I'm glad I discovered it wrapped in this beautiful voice.
Excellent performance!!!!
Perfectly captures that mix of disappointment and shame after you realise your flirtation is futile, insulting, childish. He doesn't care.
those awesome feet have a place... in my mouth
Diana you're beautiful, your voice is perfect for jazz. I hope to see you in concert one day.
ooohhh i think she is a true angel ...
beautiful song thank you
STILLS?????
I love it
I always loved this song, from the first time I heard Nat sing it w/ the trio. Love Russel Malone's lush accompanyment and his fat chords and supple bass lines... Diana's great as well.
Yup. Me too.
