Krall, Diana - Wide River To Cross Lyrics

There's a sound in the wind, blowing down the road I've been
I can hear it cry while shadows steal the Sun
But I can not look back now, come too far to turn around
And there's still a race ahead, I must run

I'm only half way home
I got a journey on,
Where I'll find the things I have lost
I've come a long, long road
Still I've got miles to go
I've got a wide, wide river to cross

I have stumbled, I have strayed
You can trace the tracks I've made
All across the memories, why aren't we gone
But I'm just a refugee, won't you sing a prayer for me
Cause sometimes even the strongest soldiers falls

I'm only half way home
I got a journey on,
Where I'll find the things I have lost
I've come a long, long road
Still I've got miles to go
I've got a wide, wide river to cross
I've got a wide, wide river to cross
I've got a wide, wide river to cross

The wide river is your journey to heaven. You will find the things you have lost, such as the little puppy on the playground you loved so much when you 7 years old.

    gal is all about love.........respect

  16. s.... ....

I was surprised it was Diana Krall because I normally hate her songs so I'm glad she changed her style. Also heard this on continuum. They have great musical director.

  17. G.... ....

It was written by Buddy & Julie Miller.

  18. S.... R....

I thought it was a Levon Helm song. Ether way, I agree, great cover!

  19. T.... S....

Just heard this song on Continuum. Hits home.

  20. s.... ....

Wow. Just amazed. I am from the South. So glad I found your music!

  21. Q.... J....

The lyrics and music were written by Buddy Melton of Balsam Range a blugrass band. She does a nice cover of it.

  22. C.... A....

She sang this at her Toronto Concert last week; her style may change, but she has only just begun.... the song has personal meaning to her and reflects her upbringing in western Canada. Keep tapping those toes Diana!

  23. S.... C....

    How pleasing :)

  24. j.... ....

    Very nice video. Thank you.

  25. J.... ....

Yes she is. You know you could have just googled her name :)

  26. k.... ....

This song is beautiful just like the album it's found on.

  27. C.... ....

oh wait. I heard the song on the radio for the first time and searched it on the internet like a mad person. and to find out this song is sang by a female? is Diana Krall a female?

  28. g.... ....

    beautiful

  29. S.... ....

Hey you are funny. I want old Diana Krall, and won't be buying any new albums or tickets until then. Qualified and open minded ? Such arrogance just deserves ignorance, just like new Diana Krall.
So please Mr Open minded, leave being defendant to the artist, as her fans would mean more than that to her. And easy beacuse no one is in a position to judge another with being or not being qualified or open minded. It just can be heared as a compliment. Leave it be so...

  30. R.... R....

This is a Buddy Miller tune, right? Love it.

  31. g.... ....

    j adore

  32. t.... ....

    Simply awesome!
    theodas

  33. m.... ....

I really like this song and it does not sound like Diana Kral's genre very versatile.

  34. F.... K....

    nice tribute

  35. C.... ....

This is so nice ! She was becoming predictable and repetitive - kudos for trying something new, and she's very good at it !

  36. a.... ....

This reminds me a little of No Expectations from Rolling Stones

  37. R.... ....

Everything T Bone does seems to have the same richness and authenticity that this amazing piece of music embodies. Lovely.

  38. N.... M....

AMAZING!!! I LOVE THE SONGS OF DIANA KRALL! I LOVE IT!!!!

  39. R.... M....

Wide River To Cross, a fineand subtle rendition with Diana's beautiful delivery. Thank you, too, Mr. T-Bone for such a nice production. From a fan in northern New Mexico, ETMartin

  40. T.... M....

With T Bone Burnett as producer, I knew that this was going to be different. At the outset, it is unexpected to hear and you are not quite sure what to make of it. But the more I listen, the more I like it. Wide River to Cross is one of the songs that now sound frankly perfect.

Diana, bring your band to Texas and play at Austin City Limits. Wide River to Cross would sound awesome in the new ACL location!

  41. v.... ....

Thanks for correcting me, I really didn't know that. So how do you like Diana Kralls' rendition?

  42. &.... ....

It's not a Levon Helm , he just covered it. It was written by Buddy Miller.

  43. J.... ....

That's what it is supposed to look like. The album theme is the 20's. A lot of money went into the design of the album and her clothing. She looks great, very hot. Go to her website and click on "news" at the bottom and read about it. It's sick? What are you some born again idiot?

  44. n.... ....

I agree. And Its nice to hear Real artists change their genres.

  45. v.... ....

I think it is very good. This is a Levon Helm song treated so beautifully. Many artist have a need to create and develop. Wouldn't it be untrue to herself not to explore her creativity, if she has the calling to try something different?. Had the pleasure to see her a few years ago, what musician!
Oh the voice, lush and sweet!

  46. s.... ....

"Our Diana Krall"? What does that even mean? Fans buy cds not artistic control, not artists. If she wants to stretch her talent a little, she's entitled. Pigeon holes are for birds not a voice like hers. If you want the old Diana, go plug in a disc. and leave the creative decisions to those more qualified and open minded.

  47. N.... ....

Diana's fans are used to hear her in this or that genres (talking about jazz and its variations). Country is not my favorite and I guess is not the favorite of Diana followers. This may be just an essay (I hope) and let's tell Diana, what we think about, in a politely way.

  48. S.... ....

First Diana Krall song I absolutely did not like.

  49. m.... ....

I don't even care to finish hearing this. Poor Diana.
    JJ

  50. A.... J....

    Beautiful,just like Diana Krall!

  51. c.... ....

agree like some others that it is too sad but good anyway

  52. b.... M....

I have complete cds of her. But I think I wont include this one...

  53. L.... F....

I miss the "Live in Paris" days.. the fast lively Jazz. Its why i loved her so much.... I really hate how the label is changing her musically as well as her appearance... Have you seen her photos shoots? making her look like some lady in a brothel.. its sick

  54. d.... ....

Very pretty. Prefer her jazz, but this is nice.

  55. O.... F....

    Hermosa canción.

  56. p.... ....

    Thanks for share it..
    Pola:)

  57. P.... P....

When I firstly heard Diana´s song or covers of song compositions, i was surprised by her jazz style and performance, but this song is a bit simply, I think. Well, probably it´s an intention, i hope :) Simply but nice

  58. d.... b....

as always.......... dear Diana Krall never disappointing me with her total soul rendition of this sweet melody......... Long Live to you Diana Krall !!!

  59. j.... ....

    Awesome. Thanks for this vids.
