    T.... ....

the phasing(?) synth in the intro part is so damn sweet. reminds me a bit of Atari 800XL stuff/C64 SID but these weren''t even invented yet at the time. i think I read somewhere that it's ARP2600 used there. which kickstarted my love for coldskool analog synths apart from my already ongoing madness about unusal sampling and tapestry

  38. J.... J....

these guys should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame already

    J.... J....

Should yes. Unfortunately the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a joke. When they start including dancing pop puppets who never composed a single song or even played any instrument then that hall of fame has since long lost its meaning. That's like including Michael Bay in a movie director hall of fame because his movies makes billions worldwide or George Lucas because he started an incredibly successful franchise (inept as a director and writer though).
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has zero credibility. Innovation, influence and lasting legacy isn't criteria they consider. Fame among the masses is. *Fame* is the 1st, 2nd and 3rd most important factor. This is why lip-synching, big buck producer, mega hit song writer, prized video director, huge record label *products* are found in this hall of fame.

The pop puppets are the musical equivalent of a McDonald's Happy Meal. Marketed, pre-packaged in an appealing shell and easy to digest. Go for the lowest common denominator. They should put the producers and marketing people behind these "artists" in this hall of fame instead because they understood how to market and sell an "artist". If so they can include Justin Bieber too in a few years. I hope they do so they can drive the final nail in their own coffin.

The infamous punk band Sex Pistols were supposed to be inducted into the Hall of Fame and John Lydon wrote an angry letter declining the invitation. Here are some of his words:"We’re not your monkeys, we’re not coming. You’re not paying attention.” and "fame at $25,000 if we paid for a table or $15,000 to squeak up in the gallery."
The influential hard rock band Black Sabbath also declined and wrote this:"Just take our name off the list. Save the ink. Forget about us. The nomination is meaningless, because it’s not voted on by the fans. It’s voted on by the supposed elite for the industry and the media, who’ve never bought an album or concert ticket in their lives, so their vote is irrelevant to me. Let’s face it, Black Sabbath has never been media darlings. We’re a people’s band and that suits us just fine."

Plenty of influential musicians who followed their own path and influenced countless of others will never be in this "Hall of Fame" and I'd prefer they'd never induct Kraftwerk either.

    J.... J....

I beleive many of the sounds you heard in the 80s and today especially in hip hop has to thank Kraftwerk for their work, but yea you're right it's now trying to get the most popular band and including some influential, alternative bands on the side. Say they go in next year in 2017. Some people will talk about them, but the major focus will be the headliners, which are rumored to be Pearl Jam and 2pac. It's becoming a focus on bands people mostly know of. Green Day never should have went in before Deep Purple and Miley Cyrus should not have the person to induct Joan Jett. Unfortunately we will see more examples like that in the Hall of Shame, so to those more deserving hall of famers, you already have my acknowledgement as legends in the music industry.

    J.... J....

but then /r/Music on Reddit would disallow tracks by them.

  41. M.... E....

Come on guys this track is from 77 or 78 (when the album was released) it is so ahead of the time .... incredible .. unbelievable

    M.... E....

    Agree. Outstanding.

  42. .... ....

Sounds like main theme from SEGA game. At least it might be.

  43. S.... ....

Africa Bambaataa, Synthie-Pop wie u.a.

    S.... ....

  44. .... ....

I can imagine skygrappers on the Asian city, Tokyo, Seoul, Hongkong...

This is epic at double speed.

    You're welcome.

    J.... L....

    @MrMarouka Thanks ^_^

    J.... L....

    @MrMarouka LOL

    J.... L....

+Jimi Lappalainen i thought they were saying "wait for police" so now i always also think of that makes the song alot darker that way

    J.... L....

    +MrMarouka good one lol!

  54. A.... C....

is it just me, or does this song remind me of the bladerunner soundtrack. its a good thing :)

    A.... C....

To me too. But this was four years before. It could be an inspiration for mr. Vangelis :)

    A.... C....

100% Vangelis listened to this more than a handful of times when he was creating the blade runner theme.

    A.... C....

Music to inspire the greatest movie ever..

  55. O.... D....

    Moogfest 2014

  56. O.... F....

    So haunting.  Love it.

  57. A.... ....

This is awesome I even hear a bit of Giorgio moroder in there

  58. t.... v....

this and the model are favourites from the german quartet.

  59. F.... F....

This is not danish but swedish. And he never said it was German, actually, he was replying to a German.

    F.... F....

    it is german

  60. A.... C....

i love how bladerunner esque this track is.

    A.... C....

Maybe we should say it the other way round: Blade Runner theme is very metropoliesque. Anyway, both are great melodies.

    A.... C....

Ashley Cross Blade Runner came afer this.

  61. D.... ....

  62. K.... S....

everything have been invented in detroit...EVERYTHING!!!...USA USA USA... and US wins in vietnam

    K.... S....

  63. s.... ....

Sry i mean was that i am a fan of Kraftwerk for almost 6 years! This is the better composition ever

  64. s.... ....

    I was a fa

  65. h.... ....

  66. t.... ....

    it's swedish, dude! / swede

    t.... ....

    its german

  67. K.... ....

Kraftwerk didn't stay true to techno. Techno stayed true to Kraftwerk. Techno was invented by Detroit DJs using Kraftwerk's beats and rhythms. Kraftwerk was merely doing whatever they felt like doing.

  68. H.... ....

the syntax is like the Ancient Greek syntax so...

  69. L.... P....

ummm thats swedich didn't he ask for geman??

  70. A.... S....

hey guys wy are you people always place things like fucking or crap thats no good at al and this is good music

  71. m.... h....

    wrong.

  72. m.... h....

    master class

  73. O.... L....

  74. k.... ....

Check out Vangelis' "Spiral". Vangelis was experimenting with synths at the same time. And, yeah, I hear the connection between this and Blade Runner.

  75. R.... S....

Anyone else hearing the "connection" between Vangelis Bladerunner soundtrack and this? Those sweeping "pad" sounds, the melody. Blade Runner wich is (I guess) quite inspired by the movie Metropolis, which this song is inspired by (I guess).

  76. e.... ....

What? should be snare drums.? That's subjective. Without K.W. there is no Gary Numan. You suck as a music analyst. Especially when you start talking about 1947. This entire Album was ahead of itself during the 1970's.

  77. R.... ....

Synthesizer royalty tune!... Thank you again Bob Moog for your invention!

  78. M.... ....

Vangelis ripped this off shamelessly. SHAMELESSLY. Someone should do a mashup of this and the end credits theme of Blade Runner. I never made the connection.

  79. O.... ....

    @Varlot15
mate, that's a great comment. I've been watching (or more like listening) blade runner few days ago and you are spot on! I shall investigate this...

  80. P.... ....

Gary Numan released The Pleasure Principle the next year. Kraftwerk always seemed dated and inaccessible to me. There are obvious points in this track where there should be snare drum fills, but they don't seem to be able to program drums beyond snare-bass-snare-bass-snare-bass-snare-bass-snare-bass-snare-snare. Come on. This sounds like it should have been released in 1947.

  81. t.... ....

i was introduced to kraftwerk in 1978 with the man machine (on 8-track)-- way ahead of their time

  82. P.... ....

@RumpelstudlBum its not danish. its norwegian/swedish.

  83. m.... ....

    @Varlot15 agree

  84. V.... ....

Am I the only one who hears vangelis' blade runner in this track?

  85. m.... d....

@RumpelstudlBum ach, das ist schrecklich D:

  86. v.... ....

    @RumpelstudlBum swedish...

  87. C.... ....

@FrickUberAlles That looks like Swedish to me, brosef.

  88. J.... N....

@FrickUberAlles english and german grammar are pretty similar, what makes the transition difficult is that germans seem to think that there needs to be a difference in gender between a knife and a fork.

  89. d.... ....

    awesome SPACE SYNTHPOP fantastic

  90. e.... w....

geles album ...immernoch das beste vom KW!!!!geile song´s und mega geile electromucke*

  91. J.... K....

    geniale Band !!!!!!!!

  92. D.... ....

@FrickUberAlles WTF does Hallå jag är mean, it doesn't make sense in german.

  93. j.... ....

@FlavioSousa35 Kraftwerk had nothing to do with _A Clockwork Orange_. Wendy Carlos and Rachel Elkind did the electronic music for that film.

  94. D.... ....

@FrickUberAlles I think you mean: "Absolut behindert"

  95. c.... ....

@Antillektuell the album was recorded in '77

  96. M.... ....

<- THAT'S GERMAN WITH SLANG ; )
