How the hell did they make this drum sound back in 1974? And what about the sampling? How was that possible back then?

I'm 52 how come I never heard of kraftwerk until about a year ago. I'm a fan of all great music, and this is pretty darn good. This would have been a good soundtrack for the Transporter movies with Jason Statham.

I got turned on to KW in the late 70’s and Autobahn was the first song for me. In 1989 I was stationed in Stuttgart in the Army. When I got my USAEUR license and bought a car, I drove on A8 from Stuttgart to Munchen, listening to this all the way to Augsburg....running 220-240 KPH the whole way. It was a significant moment in my life. For the next 4 years I drove all over Europe, but nothing could beat the Autobahn, especially A5 from Karlsruhe to Basel, through the Black Forest.

I hit 80mph in my 71 VW Bug listening to this ...

I spent 2 years in the army Heidelberg Germany. I remember heavy metal bars, German women who were beautiful, and getting plastered in the bars, then walking down the Heidelberg strip to where the taxis sat. This is from 1987-89. The castle was under construction the whole 2 years i was there. Mueller CD store in downtown Heidelberg and the topless girls at the Rhine.

I was sat in a coach (school trip 1975) on my way to Austia for a ski-ing trip, listening to "Autobahn" whilst on the Autobahn ... Iconic or what!!! It is a shame there wasn`t something similar for a high speed train.

A classic BMW 525 roaring thru the nite at max. speed of about 120 mph guzzling gas on a rate unthinkable for today's standards, the stereo system tries to beat the noise of wind coming thru the open windows, goosebumps on your skin because you feel so alive. Memory of youth connected to this piece of music.
