Such a beautiful understated song and a window into the life of an everyday person who likes to go roaming and to see where life takes them. Nobody quite tells a story through the medium of songs in the way Mark Knopfler does and as a guitarist I rate him as highly as I do both Jeff Beck and David Gilmour.

I'm a looser myself never been lucky in love but hey ..that's another story... good to see you sitting down and your knee bouncing as if you had a baby on it. Certainly got rythm running through your body.

A hallmark of Mark & Co's performances is the blend of different instruments round his voice and guitar to produce a sound that is often subtle and gentle, but has a real intensity and depth. So it is with this song, with first the mandolin and then the pan pipe both adding piquancy and emotion to the song, with the sound of the percussion, double bass and organ providing a solid platform in the background for them to work on. This is the kind of song you can listen to again and again, picking out and enjoying the sound each instrument contributes to an achingly brilliant performance.

ALWAYS worth listening to some from Mark Knopfler music. Sadly I was late in hearing about the upcoming tour this fall & it's sold out! Was planning to drive the 1350 km one way to see the nearest show (in Washington State), but no tickets left.

That's really unfortunate, hope you get the chance to see him live another time soon!

Wonderful.. and Mark is a real comic. Back in 2004 he played the Spodek concert hall in Katowice here in Poland.. came on carrying a mug.. which did look a bit odd.. He said 'tea!' the audience roared laughing !!
