Knight, Gladys - Friendship Train Lyrics

Calling out to everyone across the nation
Said the world is in a desperate situation
Stealing, burning, fighting, killing
Nothing but corruption
It looks like mankind in on the eve of destruction
Oh yes it is now people let me tell you now
We've got to learn to live with each other
No matter what the race, creed or color
I just got to tell you what the world needs now
Is love and understanding get aboard the friendship train
Everybody shake a hand make a friend now
Listen to us now, we're doing our thing
On the friendship train

We've got to start today to make tomorrow
A brighter day for our children
Oh calm down people now we can do it
I can prove it but only if our hearts are willing
Now get aboard the friendship train
Everybody, shake a hand, shake a hand

Yes I'm talking about the friendship train
It don't matter what you look like
People or who you are
If your heart is in the right place
In the right place
Talking about the right place
You're welcome aboard now

This train stands for justice,
This train stands for freedom
This train stands for harmony and peace
This train stands for love
Come on get on the friendship train
People listen to me now
Harmony is the key my sisters and brothers
Oh yes it is I say
Harmony is the key my sisters and brothers
People can't wait cause another day might be too late
Come on get on the friendship train

YES, I JUST LOVE HOW THIS POSITIVE MESSAGE IS SO GENUINE BUT

    UNFORTUNATELY DUE TO THIS COLD
TROUBLED WORLD WE ARE LIVING IN

TODAY, IT'S VERY COLD, SO WHY NOT GET PREPARED TO RIDE THIS "FRIENDSHIP TRAIN" FOR UNITY LOVE, AND PEACE,THAT WAS

    WITHIN OUR CREATOR'S ORIGINAL
    MASTERPLAN. AND CUT THIS

    UNNECESSARY DRAMA OF HATRED
    AND JEALOUSY BECAUSE IT WAS

NEVER MEANT TO BE APART OUR
    DNA, UNFORTUNATELY, BUT THAT

HOW THE EVIL WICKED ONE OPERATE, AND IT IS TIME TO

    PREPARE OURSELVES FOR CHANGE
    YES POSITVE MOTIVATION FOR

THE DAY OF OUR CREATOR AND LORD AND SAVIOR BUT WILL YOU

BE PREPARED OR CAUGHT UP LOST
    AND CONFUSE, BUT REMEMBER IN
NOAH'S DAY THERE WAS ONLY 8

SURVIVORS THAT LISTEN TO GOD'S WORD OVER MAN THAT CHOSE TO IGNORE THE TRUTH

This piece of music is powerful and stimulating and, yes, very relevant to today's world. I'm not a music student but the emotional pitch reminds me of the gospel music I used to hear while walking past some of the churches in my South Bronx neighborhood as a child fifty years ago. Rather than solemn prayer it sounded like they were having a really good time in there. I guess worship is supposed to make you feel good not sad.

  20. The Autistic Artist

"Our Friend, Martin" brought me here.

  21. Cecilia Rivera

I love that guitar in the beginning of the song bending the hell outa the notes.. Very nice

  22. Jonnie Rose

Great song, how I love it!! An underappreciated gem from 1969 that remains fresh and timeless. Easily lends itself to our current state of affairs.
