Knight, Gladys - Do Nothing Till You Hear From Me Lyrics

Do nothing till you hear from me,
Pay no attention to what's said
Why one should tear the seam
Of anyone's dream
Is over my head
Do nothing till you hear from me,
At least consider our romance
If you should take the word
Of others you've heard
I haven't a chance

True, I've been seen with someone new
But does that mean that I'm untrue?
While we're apart,
The words in my heart
Reveal how I feel about you

Some kiss may cloud my memory
And other arms may hold a thrill
But please do nothing
Till you hear it from me
And you never will

  13. J.... B....

    WOW WOW WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From a mad keen 74yo Aussie fan.

  14. T.... S....

I love this wonderful lady. She deserves every accolades ever heard of. She's our Empress of Soul. She deserves the best of everything. 💖

  15. T.... H....

ARRGG she is singing the melody wrong and it's driving me nuts. (Listen to Ella's version to hear how it was originally written by Duke Ellington, specifically the A section of this AABA song.) I mean the song is so great that even when it is screwed up it still sounds good, but refusing to sing it the (superior) way it was originally written is a kind of historical erasure.

    T.... H....

Thomas Horwath It's jazz. Her interpretation of a classic tune written by Duke Ellington. Often vocalist or musicians will personalize a song to fit themselves. I don't think she strayed too far from the original format.

  16. H.... d....

I can *hear* Duke grinning from one ear to the other. She has made a standard her own.

  17. R.... V....

There are good black singers. And, there are bad black singers. We are all JUST HUMAN!!!

  18. E.... M....

    The Lover....♥

  19. m.... d....

This classic piece by Gladys is a Duke Ellington song from the 1940's. Great rendition of a wonderful song!!

  20. K.... W....

Gladys Knight will be recognized (she is already recognized by some) as a songstress on par with the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and Rosemary Clooney. She takes a song and delivers it like she's having a conversation with her audience. She's never "pitchy" or unsure of where she's going vocally.

    K.... W....

And man is the band COOKING! Beautiful doubling of piano and vibes- Basie/Q style arrangement...

    K.... W....

Kirk Williams seriously, recognized by some? How old are you? She’s a huge legand!!

  21. j.... ....

Do nothing till you hear from me,
Pay no attention to what's said.
Why people tear the seams of anyone's dreams
    Is over my head.

Do nothing till you hear from me,
    At least consider our romance.
If you should take the words of others you've heard,
    I haven't a chance.

True, I've been seen with someone new,
But does that mean that I've been untrue?
    When we're apart,
    The words in my heart

Some kiss may cloud my memories,
And other arms may hold a thrill,
But please, do nothing till you hear it from me--
    And you never will.

    ~interlude~

Some kiss may cloud my memories,
And other arms may hold a thrill,
But please, do nothing till you hear it from me--
    And you never will.
