Knight, Chris - House And 90 Acres Lyrics
I've got a house and 90 acres some cattle in the barn
Two kids with no mama, she left in a saleman's arms
A sign by the mailbox says there's an auction in the yard
Born and raised has been damn easy but lately living's hard
If she was all I had to worry about well I'd guess I'd miss her too
But I've watched my tools and tractor leave in someone else's hands
I grit my teeth, I'm let 'em go but I won't give up my land
This house and 90 acres, the only place I've left to stand
My roots are anchored solid, I ain't machinery I'm a man
I'll be here in the morning come pouring rain or sun
This house and 90 acres what's said is good as done
There's jobs up in the city I could probably drive a truck
Well you know that I ain't leaving if it's just my pride I save
I might be on the front porch or I might be in a hillside grave
This house and 90 acres, the only place I've left to stand
My roots are anchored solid, I ain't machinery I'm a man
I'll be here in the morning come pouring rain or sun
This house and 90 acres what's said is good as done
This house and 90 acres what's said is good as done

2020 here
Good stuff
Pulling on my Justin’s now living in a concrete jungle where everything pure has been stripped........ my ol gmc 350 4 bolt main will be screaming back to the country soon as all of us boyz are headed back. I wish we could go backwards to the 70’s and 80’s and just remain in those times here in the Midwest. When their were no strangers and we never let anyone leave even looking hungry let alone saying they were. Better times better people back then. God Bless all y’all still fighting the new found progressiveness in this big ol scary world today.
Country boy will survive!
Simple lyric simple song and nothing but truth... how all songs should be.

Country songs tell a story not baby leave on about a girl or repeating halfyour lyrics
the song is hella sick ijust wish there wear a small back up beat with the drums or a electric guitar to fill in
Need this on Spotify
This is legit country! Reminds me of a mix of Dylan, and Townes Van Zandt
Seen him at trade water music festival a few times he's awesome he lives in slaughter KY
This is country. country music isn’t about good times and getting the girl, it’s about lessons learned through tough times, faith, and hard work. It’s relatable to the everyday man just tryin to provide for his family
I pawned everything I own after I got married.i listen to this song and drinkd what I could find.years later I still own my farm and home.its not much my wife could do better but it's mine.i cam across this song today....wow....
Stand strong My Family and Brothers and sisters.
Leave it to two chris's to do country the right way.
Outstanding
Bad fing ASS!!!
Strong song. I made the mistake of moving to the city. Good job good money but it wasn't home. It was insanity. I am poor and have a stack of bills but I have my land and its home.
Well HOWDY Y'ALL, my name is Ramsey Daugherty, I'm a life long Robert E fan. I mean seeing him at the DIXIE CHICKEN. I love how folks that ain't never been to TEXAS, love him as much as I do. SAW VARISITY' s OFF. WHOOOOOOP GIGEM AGGIES
The difference between this music and today's popular music is the difference between real flowers and plastic ones. Chris is one hell of a singer/ songwriter/ storyteller. Check him out, you'll be glad you did.
so sad but how realistic! great heart felt song
dude can sing and make ya feel what he is feelin it's awesome music

Imagine a better world where you could turn on a country station and hear this.
I think that's the BANK that takes his possessions. Too bad it's so hard to tell the difference sometimes these days.
I'm gladly born and raised on the poorest side of Trashville, this will never be on the radio but then again if it were then treasures like this they wouldn't mean shit.
Here Texas in the Comal county area we've got a he'll of a station called KKYX plays songs like this 24/7 god bless Texas
Amen brother
my local station plays pop country, bro country, pure crap. Good thing for internet so you can get real country
love all your stuff man
is there an album that is hidden or something? I cant find certain songs.
is there an album that is hidden or something? I cant find certain songs.
GREAT song!
dude is one of,if not the best story tellers of the good old U.S.A.there is a song that will touch your heart for everyone.......
well said!
That's what "three chords and the truth" means. You can't go wrong with Chris Knight. Outstanding.
The chords are Em C and D if you wanted to know.
I just heard this song today and it gives me shivers. It has great heart and meaning! This song is pretty inspirational, talking about never giving up. (:
Exactly
Wow! This is almost as good as that there little country singing gal Taylor Swiss. And the song writin is almost as good as hers is, believe it or not. I just love to hear that Miss Swiss singing about how bad her boyfriends always seem to do her. But she is country tough and always gets them back in the end. And luckily we can never forget about it because she reminds us in every single song. You go Miss Taylor Swiss. Keep country real. Hopefully this here Chris Knight can check out one of her songs for a good song writing reference and sort of how to write a hit. Luckily he will only need to listen to one to get the full effect, as one is just the same as another.
@John Sexton http://www.rooshv.com/what-is-neomasculinity
@John Sexton okay there hollywood, you dont get it / its music im glad the man aint a sellout like the radio shit you are brainwashed hero. now go on back to ur commercials and computer aided talentless operatives
+Bob Campbell
Uhhh, Hey Bob... The dude couldn't have poured the sarcasm on thicker. It's pretty obvious he was being facetious... U know, saying the opposite of what he meant to make a point and simultaneously stultify the pop country fans. Just a suggestion, but perhaps you should read things more carefully before you respond.
+John Sexton i'm thinking you're being sarcastic as hell....Go Bro'!!!!!
+Matt Whisnant ditto!!...God bless you country fans!!!!
I love your song house and ninety acres brings back so many memories of me being back out on the ranch
Way better than anything comin outta Trashville these days. This is what country oughta sound like.
+TIG881 I agree sir, I'm south of Nashville. All that radiation of Luke Bryan and Taylor swift pollute this area. This definitely is what big records should be playing on the radio, but no homo. Chris knight and so many other good artists aren't pretty boy enough for corrupt nashville's spotlight. Im not defending nashville, I'm just stating that Chris knight was discovered there. You can't tell me Randy Rogers Band isn't getting outta hand with a mainstream type fuzzy song? Josh abbot? Every place has flaws. I'm a drive by trucker, reckless kelly, whiskey Myers, Chris knight, and blackberry smoke type listener. So I'm no way shape or form am I defending jake Owen and such. I'm just defending what's left of nashvilles underground pride.
+TIG881 Hell yeah, i pay extra for them "rays of light through a shiner bock bottle" being from TN ha. Confederate Railroad was formed down there in Dunlap, we love them around here, but so should everyone. But yeah brother I've seen Chris Knight, J. Boland, and D.B.T. live. They are great artists who can really effect a crowd, not with dancing and motions, but with words lol. I tell as many people about them as i can
It would catch on for sure. Most people don't have time to dig for real music they just have to be content with whatever is on the radio. unfortunately its crap now days
This is the good ole out law country my friend!
I live in alabama and i say there is no country artist left lmfao they are some comming up but how long do u think it will take before they want that mainstream money lol Nashville is a dump people get noticed there yea lmao its what there supose to do its like new Orleans most the ppl there are musically inclined dosent mean the big shots agree with old country it just means they see money they can make and if they turn them mainstream guess what the big shot gets more money lol its a joke if ur country then Nashville is where u want to avoid
One Man's Song is another Mans life................
Very true
This almost perfectly fits my life, except my wife died and I only have 1 son, and 70 acres
Omg @katiemattox you're soooo cool! Omg like so hipster! Wow you listened to something on YouTube!!!! You're soooo cool!
Nothing like music to pick you up. Love Chris Knight's music before most even knew who he was.
most still don't
Shut up
The only good music coming out is all underground and hidden from the public's eye.
Luckily there's a lot on Pandora to be found for those who want to find it.
I JUST LOVE THE SONG WITH OUT POLITICS........ LET'S ALL JUST LISEN TO IT AND ENOY IT FOR A SONG...... NO ONE SAID THE WORD "UNION" OR NOT... JUST STOP AND LOVE MUSIC FOR MUSIC... ALLTHAT OTHER STUFF IS OUTSIDE THE SONG. (YES I LIKE CAPS AS MY SIGHT IS FLEETING...) .

This BARN and 90 acres
Try tens of thousands of bank tellers loosing their jobs so thousands of computer programers can keep theres. This is the point. It's down sizing for profit. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that investors and business owners have and should have every right to find better cheaper ways of doing things to maximize their profits but the technology puts far more out of work than it employs. My compliments on your avatar! Might need to hoist the Bonnie blues at the state capitals soon.
It's really country I like that talk about small things in stead of the things like : money and drugs even do you don't use it yourself.
Liked and subscribed,

Nah, the poor fellow most likely needs an ear exam! :D
Who should recieve my donation(s) and for what purpose? To what or whom do you donate your money too?
How about you just donate me some money?
You blame all corporations for what some of them do. It's equivalent to blaming all blacks for theft because a hand full of blacks are theives. Anyone can set up a corporation, it's quite easy and there are benefits to doing so that are perfectly legal and legit. A plantation owner couldn't survive without slaves because most plantations were made up of large tracts of land needed to be cultivated, planted & harvested and the plantation owners lacked modern day technology. Slavery=cheap labor.
Corporations are guilty because of their lobbying & how they are buying off the government to change the economy, not because of trying to survive in the market. In the environment of globalization they created, what they do is necessary for survival. The slave economy had many similarities. A plantation owner couldnt survive in their economy without slaves. Change brought a lot of pain just like it would now. But that doesnt make it right or even economical to continue with such an abomination
The jobs that are being lost to technology are the jobs best suited for the unskilled laborer and it is the unskilled laborer that always makes up the majority of the work force in any country. Be it their fault or not those unskilled laborers are generally ill suited for the more technical jobs you speak of. The purpose of the technology is to increase efficiency and reduce the need for human labor as well as the reflective costs & liabilities there of. Again unskilled laborers loose out.
Btw, the argument about stealing work is probably a red herring. In our country's history, technology has not taken away jobs that it didn't replace with other ones. I think now that the types of jobs created are so radically different from the jobs replaced and plenty are easily outsourced so we see it as a loss of jobs.
Absolutely I do as much business as I can at my farmer's market with locals and at the local mom & pop grocery store. I feel so much better about this than buying at large chains. I also can get healthy meat out of it without chemicals and stuff though unfortunately it is double the price.
I see the last 20 years as exposing giant gaping holes in our economy and its structure. I find frustrating that the republican narrative is the only well-known understanding of capitalism.
I have a problem with their attitude that this is not an evil at all and perfectly just and I have a problem that we, the supposed democracy, cannot get politicians to do whats in our best interests and secure the structure of the economy that has worked so well for us for so long.
I have a problem with the economic implications of Chinese labor more than the plight of sweatshop workers. Most of their citizens are in a sad state now and the job is an improvement to their old condition. But sorry, they can develop on their own by having their own people produce and sell products to their own people. America should do the same. You are correct each individual CEO must do these things in order for the company to stay solvent and to compete.
As much as I hate to agree with Obama he was right when he said technology is stealing work from people. The more we shop/bank online and the more we use those automated things the less these companies have need of human employees. People should start doing less business with big corporations and doing more with small business and mom & pop businesses. Nobody has the right to complain about the way things are when they support Walmart, Target, Lowes, Home Depot etc.
But we don't because its easy for elites to rig the economy and make money off other people's labor rather than innovation... like capitalism is supposed to run off of.
A CEO is not a politician nore a statesman whose responsability is to the community, state, region or nation. If the CEO is yielding the desired results it is healthy for the company and it's investors which is the CEO's true priority. You make it sound as if the Chinese worker is some how being abused and used. You can't honestly and fairly compare his conditions and level of compensation in an entirely different culture to that of people in this country.
And look what happened... the half of the country that embraced skimping on labor and not paying workers had cotton as their economy and did not develop. The half of the country that embraced paying workers and a middle class had factories and railroads and a million innovations and a much stronger economy and won the civil war.
This is a government decision which type of economy we want. We could easily bring back the middle class just by trade barriers fixing the supply & demand of labor.
Outside of slavery, the US south WAS capitalist and economically, paying workers pennies per hour in China is not much different for a company than not paying workers anything at all. Both are degrading. And both RUIN the dynamics of the rest of the capitalist system. What we are doing here by knocking down trade barriers is making the supply of labor so freaking large that the value of our skills and work is artificially depressed to save companies money. This is not healthy.
There is absolutely no similarity capitalism & slavery lol. You should have done yourself a favor and stopped before you made such an idiotic claim. In capitalism one can refuse to accept the pay level and/or work load and will not recieve 40 lashes or worse as a result. Capitalism allows for entreprenuership, did slavery? No it did not. Capitalism offers an opportunity for a pay grade commenserate with the skill level of the worker and his/her value to the work force. Did slavery? Hell no!
Cotton farmers in the US south relied on slavery in order to be competitive. You could not have paid labor and expect to have the same results. Likewise, we need to compete with India and China and all that because of this bullshit economic system that we put into place. For two hundred years our country has had TARRIFFS & other barriers for this exact reason to protect local business and the middle class and all that. Our economic problems are self created because asshole elites want more money
I'm responding anyway... this capitalist system runs like slavery did in the 1800's US. Replace rich plantation owners vs. poor non-slaveholding whites vs. slaves with elite politicians/executives vs. shrinking middle class/poor vs. outsourced labor. There are important differences but the economic dynamics are the same. A major reason north fought south was the ECONOMY was incompatible. You cannot have slavery beside paid labor and expect supply & demand and markets to function properly.
It's simple, this country is done. Hyper inflation is comming, our government will crash beneath the weight of it's own bureaucracy and war mongering ways alike. It's to late to stop it now. Romney would've done little to nothing to make the situation better, Obama will just continue to make it far worse. No need in worrying yoursef with how to going to fix it. that just ain't gonna happen. The greatest threats to this country are not over seas they are in Washington DC, state & local capitals.
fuck it and all we messed up humans do. I hope the mayans were right.
Wow... listening to corporate-created lies about capitalism sure puts me in the mood to go out and kill people.
If this mattered I would give a response to all this but in the end this is all just useless babble that does nothing but make us angry. We can't even get past the basics... we are not a democracy, we are not entirely capitalist, we aren't even a sovereign nation (campaigns are controlled by MULTI-NATIONAL companies). What the hell we going to do if we can't even agree on this?
my dad told me the other day when we were in the barn.son all this stuff around u is just a bunch of shit. lifes not about the stuff u got its where you call home and your family. Cause all this stuff is gonna be at auction one day on a shitty rainy day for a buck a box just like the hundred farm sales weve been too.im 27 right now and ill never forget those words.
wow comments are full of monsanto employees........damn
I love GMO foods, they're the best hope of sustaining the current world population.
However... Monsanto itself aggressively persecutes farmers that are actually harmed by their product. Farmers using their own seeds have their crops contaminated by Monsanto plants cross-breeding through wind pollination. Monsanto then sues the farmers for using patented genetic material in their crops. This is on top of the "super-weeds" that have spread due to Monsanto's careless practices.
Monsanto, and whats so bad about said company? They continue to push yields up and investing millions in R and D. In turn they bring a farmer more money plus help bring more food to feed a ever growing hungry world. Plus if someone doesn't like monsanto products they are not forced to buy them... Either way good song
