Knack, The - Serious Fun Lyrics

When you get what you want baby
You forget about what you need
If nescience is what you flaunt baby
Just remember that you're what you read yeah
Now hemingway and nietsche say there has to be a better way
To sanctify your soul
It's no crime to be lazy baby
But that ain't rock and roll oh no
I know you don't want to hear it but you
Still can be anything you want to be
It's time to change 'cause the time has come
For serious fun serious fun serious fun serious fun

You don't have to be rich baby
Doesn't matter if you're young or old no
We all know life's a bitch man but knowledge is the gift
No it isn't heavy metal but it's worth its weight in gold
I know it's hard to believe it but you
Still can have anything and everything
If you believe then the time has come
For serious fun serious fun serious fun serious fun

Serious fun serious fun serious fun
Serious fun serious fun serious fun
Fun fun fun

When you get what you want baby
You forget about what you need oh
You're headed for the restaurant baby
But your head is what you got to feed yeah

Note to arsalmonar:  My experience with rock and Roll Music for over 50 years is that any Rock and Roll song / album is derivative of some other Rock and Roll song or album in some way or another. It's only my opinion and I am just sayin'. But look at the positive side, and you get a song and then get to hear it in such a rearranged fashion, that it just thrills you all over again.

There is a cool little interview John Lennon did with a DJ in NYC that taps on how songwriters can use other pieces in their work. In the piece, John talks about how ELO used I Heard It Through the Grapevine, Lightning Strikes, & I Am The Walrus to create the song Showdown....

Parts of the song are a little bit of a rip on Bowie's, "REBEL REBEL"... but yes this is a rocker.

I was more into their later stuff after the hype machine of their first album where they tried to make them into the Beatles ended.  This song really rocks!

    Sono daccordo con te,grazie a Dio(e a Youtube),si può riascoltere e vedere dell'ottima musica in questo caso,di una rock-band davvero strepitosa che andrebbe riscoperta(peccato davvero per Doug!grande vocalist!Hi,Doug! You're always our hearts!

One of the most underated bands ever. I have this and several other albums from this band and people would be quite surprised to find out that they had balls as big as any rock pop band out there. Thanks for posting this fine copy of "Serious Fun". RIP Doug.
