Kiwanuka, Michael - I've Been Dazed Lyrics

I've been dazed
My pride is gone
My mistake
Guess I'll move on

London days
It's cold outside
Lost my way
You know I've tried

Won't you carry on?
Won't you carry on?
Help me carry on
Won't you carry on?

The Lord said to me (The Lord said to me)
Time is a healer (Time is a healer)
Love is the answer (Love is the answer)
I'm on my way (I'm on my way)
The Lord said to me (The Lord said to me)
Time is a healer (Time is a healer)
Truth is the answer (Truth is the answer)
I'm on the way (I'm on the way)

Lost my way
You know I've tried

The Lord said to me

Help me carry on
Won't you carry on? (The Lord said to me, the Lord said to me)

Oh
Won't you carry on?
Oh, won't you carry on?
Now I can carry on
I need peace of mind
Help me carry on, on
I need peace of mind
Help me carry on

  15. Lucas Cecil

This is such an excellent song. I wish my dad was still around to hear it. He would have loved it. Wonderful work Michael.

    Matt Payette

I feel the same. My dad and I would always share music that we thought each other would enjoy and this, I'm sure he would have.
Lost him January 27 last year and makes me cry that he can't hear this beautiful song.

    Lucas Cecil

@Matt Payette I hear you, we always let each other hear the music we had found since the last time we saw each other. I lost my dad in May of this year. I still hear songs (like this one) and I yearn for those days we would just sit and listen to music.

Hope you're dealing with it alright man, it isn't easy for sure.

    MonkeyWrenched22

I currently have this bond with my oldest son. I like to believe that when my day comes, my son will just play music he wants me to hear a little louder and I'll hear it. I like to believe your fathers will too. Keep sharing & turn it up!

  30. A. Graikos

    Very "Floydish"...Nice work there

  31. Matt M

Great song from a great album. Am I the only person that was convinced Bono was somewhere in the backing vocals of this song? Nothing about him in the description but massively sounds like him. Guess it's just a similar sounding vocalist.

    Ryan Farewell

I got that vibe from this and the previous song too!

    Matt M

@Ryan Farewell Pretty sure Danger Mouse worked with U2 a few years ago so wouldn't be surprised.

This album is probably the most influential piece of music of this decade, this song brought tears to my eyes.

    Dee Wrekk

I love this album, however I just can't see this album as being highly influential. You're saying that this will alter the trajectory of music as a whole? I just don't see it. It's not really the most groundbreaking piece of work, and I'd argue that the musical compositions on his Love & Hate album was more unconventional than it is here.

    Christopher

Dee Wrekk This album is more of a concept album, that should be listened to in one take. Also, musically, there’s actually *more* to this album than on Love&Hate. There’s strings and incredible drums, soaring melodies and emotive lyrics. But to each his own, much depends on personal preference. ‘Groundbreaking’ is practically impossible these days anyway, since all of the tunes played today in pop music have probably been done in some form before.

    Dee Wrekk

@Christopher Yeah this is all very debatable. I can't really say one album is better than the other. Love & Hate just felt more haunting to me, it's absolutely depressing, and there were long instrumental sections which added so much to the tracks, you hardly see them anymore. Love & Hate is more unforgettable an atmsopheric experience to me. KIWANUKA is a journey through the highs and the lows and is more varied musically, not a weak song on there either. You Ain't the Problem and Final Days are my favorites that I come back to very routinely. KIWANUKA isn't majorly groundbreaking (it doesn't have to be!) but it certainly stands out from the majority of music. You know, Kiwanuka's music is influential, it will certainly influence a handful of musicians--how much though, only time will tell.

@Quirky 0161 I was grocery shopping today. Headphones on, Kiwanuka mix playing. This song starts playing. By :48 I stop dead in my tracks. By "I need peace of mind", I was weeping...Right there in isle 5. ❤

    Quirky 0161

Kathryn McCann I love how music can do this. It’s such a beautiful song. I cried the first 3 plays of it and had to text my friend to check I wasn’t going mental! It’s just the power of music. I could listen to this song on repeat all night and it won’t get boring. Crazy. Hope you get a ticket for his upcoming gigs x

    Kathryn McCann

@Quirky 0161 I hope so too. I saw him in 2012 in Philly. I got a chance to talk to him after the show. He has a beautiful heart. I think it comes through in his music. 🎶 ❤

    Kathryn McCann

Also, not crazy. Music is prayer to me. I'm grateful music touches my heart like it does. I feel sorry for people that can't feel it. I'm glad you do.

    Quirky 0161

Kathryn McCann oh wow I am well jealous! I bet it was amazing to see him when he was jus starting out?!
I imagine him being down to Earth and very humble. I think when someone bares their soul you can can’t help but love it. The passion! X
