Never understood this song being recorded by Kiss.

I loved this tune back in '77 when it came out. I still freakin' love it!!

I was 10 then and a big Brian Wilson/Beach Boys fan. I loved KISS since '75 too and I knew they had the chops and such to pull off a great oldies cover. Killed the Wall of Sound/Phil Spector here. Loved these guys when they'd veer off and do an oldie. Their La Bamba is great too.

You are wrong. I think it's a badass cover haha. It's funny you have women in the rap industry rapping about having a dick and that's all fine but when a guy band covers a song and converts it in a make version it's gay. And yet Queen vocalist isn't the best singer in rock history. Everyone says that bc he loved dick up his ass and died fuck Queen and Freddie he isn't the best and will never will be. I LOVE this song. In my mind, this is one of Paul Stanley's greatest vocals and one of KISS' s BEST songs.

It's not "some song from the 50's" it was "Then He Kissed Me" by the Crystals released in 1963 and produced by Phil Spector.

As much as I like Kiss, some bands aren't meant to cover certain songs. And this is one example. Another is when they covered LaBamba in concert. Pitiful. This is nothing more than, what we used to call back in the day, an album filler.

@Ed Jones I have to disagree Ed. It's when these guys took chances their talent really shined through. My favorite clips of them are when they are earnestly covering The Who, Hendrix, etc - or even goofing on La Bamba or some Beatles. Gene and Paul are true classic music fans at the end of the day. The worst job of them covering a tune (basically when they try to please fans and do The Oath...) still rocks in my book because the band is based on the idea of taking BIG chances and risking looking (and sometimes sounding) like a fool.

Funny thing is Kiss is doing what the New York Dolls did by covering the girl group the Shangri-Las so yes you are right.

I read a comment from 3 yrs ago saying KISS was originally gonna name the group FUCK and settled on KISS from the advice of several friends. Are you serious??? Lmao read the books!!! They were riding around New York City in a beat up 4 door clunker trying to decide on a band name. After several failed suggestions, Peter Criss mentioned he was in a band called "Lips".... that's when Paul spoke up and said how about KISS? The rest is history.

When I was a little kid, early 70's, The world will stop to listen to a Kiss concert on the radio, yes! on the radio. I guess all the wild kids died young. It is embarrassing to see few views on such a great group.

I was a huge kiss fan when I was a pimple-faced teen in the late 70s. Kiss isn't exactly known for their musical chops. Kiss is all about the visual. Paul Stanley himself said he wanted to create a band that looked like no other. Mission accomplished, but musically they are pretty weak.

Again, my bedroom was plastered with Kiss posters and I had all their records up to Dynasty. So don't slam me for speaking the truth. They definitely have a unique look but musically Kiss is very bland and boring. From age 20 to 40 I wouldn't even admit that I used to be a huge kiss fan. That's how embarrassingly bad this band is. I'm older now and I don't give a rat's ass what people think so I don't mind admitting I used to be a fan.

By the way, I'm binging on all things Beach Boys at the moment. They covered this song and it reminded me of the Kiss cover so I looked it up to have a listen.

@Kroban3 Dude they are not musically weak at all!! Really listen to some of their early stuff, you'll be amazed by it. I'm a guitar player & some of Ace's licks & solos were pretty intricate. Hate when people say a band is weak when they know nothing about music.
