It's flat six and flat seven .... If you would call every song that uses that chord progression a "rip-off" you would have to sue Iron Maiden for half of their songs. An except of the phrasing of "Eigh-teen" and "Dreaming" the melodic structure is different a lot. The verse in dreaming is in different key and also the chord progression is different. So I don't know why you can't just shut up about rip-offs and enjoy these fucking great songs.

It bears a resemblance to Alice Cooper's song. Inspired by it perhaps but not a blatant ripoff like MC Hammer "Can't Touch This" or Eddie Murphy's "Ghostbusters" song. You can see why Alice Cooper didn't sue but his record company did.

relpitstudios Actually there is truth. Cooper’s legal team was seeking more in the lawsuit, likely thinking that Psycho Circus sold better than it did. Once KISS presented the actual sales figures, they lowered the amount they were asking for in the suit. Psycho Circus did go Gold as you stated, but I think it’s fair to conclude that the sales, while in line with KISS’ album sales post-Smashes, were disappointing considering the heightened expectations following what can only be considered an overwhelmingly successful Reunion Tour.

It did suck finding that out.I still like this song .But ALL 4 should have played on ALL tracks.And there should have been 4 songs by each and 4 songs collectively a total of 16 .What a blown opportunity.

When I first heard this song back in 1998 , I always thought it sounded like something I heard before. Well I was right. I was always a fan of Alice Cooper and must of played " I'm 18" over a hundred times. Very surprised KISS did this and to think no one will notice.

I doubt Alice Cooper really cared, it was his publisher who wanted money and it was settled out of court. I guarantee you that most musicians don't care and let Rock be Rock, but record labels and publishing companies want more money in their pockets. They're the true money whores not KISS or any other band, record executives and music publishers

It was speculated a long time if Kiss actually took riffs from Alice Cooper's song "I'm 18". But come on, it would be the same if you say "Avenged Sevenfold didnt steal the idea of Metallica's song "Sad but true" and used it in their song "This Means War"".


There will always be bands, no matter how famous, that get inspiration from someone else. And i'm sure "i'm 18" gave inspiration to Kiss to make "Dreamin'". You just cant denie that.
