life changing event when I saw them live Houston '76, cheap trick fronting

Saw the same lineup in 1977 in Iowa City, Iowa. I couldn't get any of my friends interested in going (fools), so I went by myself and sat with a group of people I'd never met and had one of the best times at a concert I'd ever had. The Kinks are great! Cheap Trick was a nice treat, too. They were just coming out at the time.

Just because a band sounded similar doesn't mean they were "ripping each other off." Bands and artists influence each other, it's childish to say they rip each other off. Technically, most rocks bands "ripped off" black blues artists who are credited with most of rock's well known features. Secondly, who gives a shit? Both bands are great.

Quite an opening guitar riff: The Who ('65 or '66) with Can't Explain, then in '77 the Clash with Clash City Rockers, plus the Kinks did this very song in '77. In '78 the Clash did Guns on the Roof. I guess it doesn't count that the Knack borrowed this very song from the Kinks in '79.

Right, Townshend copyrighted that 5-4-1 lick.
