Kinks, The - Skin And Bone Lyrics
Fat Flabby Annie was incredibly big
She weighed just about sixteen stone
And then a fake dietician went and put her on a diet
Now she looks like skin and bone
She looks like skin and bone
Do the meditation and yoga
And she's thrown away the good food guide
And she's given up the alcohol and pizzas
And the pies and now she looks as if she's ready to die,
You can't see her walk by
Don't eat no mashed potatoes,
Don't eat no buttered scones
Stay away from carbohydrates
You're gonna look like skin and bone.
Living on the edge of starvation
And she says she's got no appetite
And her father and her mother
And her sisters and her brothers
Couldn't see her when she walked by
You can't see her walk by.
She don't eat no mashed potatoes,
She don't eat no buttered scones
Stay away from carbohydrates
You're gonna look like skin and bone.
She used to be so cuddly,
She used to be so fat,
But oh what a sin cos she's oh so thin
That she lost all the friends that she had,
She looks like skin and bone
If you look flabby
And you feel overweight,
And you wanna lose a couple of stone,
Take a crash course diet do your daily exercises
And you'll look like skin and bone.
Come on rattle them bones,
Put your hands up to the ceiling,
Bend your hips and touch your toes,
Do your daily exercises,
You're gonna look like skin and bone,
Don't eat no mashed potatoes,
Don't eat no buttered scones
Don't eat no carbohydrates
You're gonna look like skin and bone.

How did they know about the carbohydrate reduced diets way back then? Interesting
The "anti-carb" diets were around back then too. There was this total fraud called Irwin Stillman who pushed them in the late 60's/early 70's and not long after this song came the Atkins diets. There was also some guy in Austria pushing them in Europe.
@Daniel Eyre Thanks for the reply. Just saw it. I was curious. This person you mention may have been a fraud, but science certainly shows that diets high in complex carbohydrates are not healthy.
@Todd Got any peer reviewed papers or disambiguation's to support that claim?
@Daniel Eyre Here ya go. Peer reviewed and all. Carbs are related to fatigue and various other illnesses.

Happy Birthday today(February 3) to Dave Davies. Cheers!
One of the best songs for a bar band to play in the last set when the crowds wasted, everybody gets up to dance. Just play it up tempo a bit
This song is still hilarious (and relevant) even though it's more than 45 years old now.
One of my favorite songs of all time. LOL I finally can play guitar well enough to attempt it. Woo Hoo
Fat people are hard to kidnap.
One foot dancing.
I went to a bar where a band was playing named Roadapple and all they did was kinks. They did this song and everyone danced on one foot in the place. One of my favorite dance nights ever.
Ya can't see her walk by...
I used to know an unfortunate emaciated young woman with Chrone's disease. And I'm not exaggerating when I say that she would often escape people's notice.
The bit starting at 02:15 is pure genius.
I've been listening to this album since I was about 5 years old and it always been one of my favorites. It's a shame not more people know about the Muswell Hillbilly Boys!
@Christine Block I agree. One of the best.
Christine Block I agree whole-heartedly. Also Lola Vs Powerman. TRUE CLASSICS
True dat!😎😁🍪
Love, love, love this tune!!1 The entire album is amazing....
Yes, Muswell Hillbillies is a fantastic album! Great lyrics and songs.
One of the best ever by the Kinks
sitting n listening to old ones, clicked in my head...early 70's i'd heard a song on dr demento show one night. all i remembered was fat flabby annie dont eat no carbohydrates. this song made me laugh now as it did then.
@loftusroadw12 , the best Kinks album there is. Very underrated. RCA didnt promote this album. Just look at this single. This is a hit record !! I never really understood why this song never took off. Chicks at the gym would have loved this song.
I discovered this album at a second hand record store back when I was a teenager in the 1990's. I played it to a few of my friends and we couldn't stop laughing and soon sang bits of the funnier lyrics amongst ourselves. Eventually it became circulated amongst kids at my school.
