Kinks, The - Mr. Big Man Lyrics
I remember when you started out,
You were the best friend I ever knew.
I tried to meet you when you had your success,
But you had better things to do.
Now I bet that you're losin' count
But now we're gonna see the vicious side of you,
Mister Big.
You've got the say and the power.
Your minions grovel and cower.
But I see you, and I see me.
But you're the big man now.
You got it, Mister Big.
Your followers kiss your hand,
And your slaves all at your feet.
But they don't compensate at all,
'Cause inside, Mister Big's very small.
When you were poor and knockin' at the door,
You were really lots of fun.
But now you're hot and you're sittin' on the top;
You've got no time for anyone.
You schemed and connived.
You pushed and you lied,
Till you at last became a star.
But now we're gonna see the way you really are,
Mister Big.
Now your vict'ry is complete
And your battles are all won.
Your enemies and foes are all stacked up in rows,
Eliminated one by one.
You got it, Mister Big.

Sounds Damn Good Love It 👍👍👍👍👍The Kinks
A work of genius
No band is more underrated in history. Maybe Zappa, but the Kinks had so many killer songs that could be played on the radio but weren't. As good as the Beatles and Stones, and even the Hollies, but didn't get the same exposure. History will sort it out, as long as our information libraries aren't destroyed like all the other ages of human existence. Kids, good luck, I'm certainly rootin' for ya even if I'm not bettin' on ya.
There the best
fucking great song
mr big man
Do the wall street shuffle.
But now we're gonna see the way you really are !
The Davis brothers and company were very tight !
Amazing :)
MOST UNDERRATED KINKS' SONG !!
Jimmy Page slight I've heard
best song off one of their best albums!
Lennon used to hang at Ray's shows/auditions and cut out quick as so Ray
would try to get his opinions of his works to no avail.
This pissed Ray off.Soon John went to the States and became huge.
I SAW this lost interview.
+Charlie Varrick Hmm. That's interesting. I'd've thought that the Beatles were already huge in England by the time the Kinks formed. Could have been someone who started at the same time (or later) as the Kinks. Maybe it's not about a musician at all. Or like a lot of Ray's work, it's probably a composite of a lot of people he may or may not have known.
@Paul Caporino Perhaps, but from what i gathered it way before or just before One of them hit big.
Mid seventies Kinks was fucking awesome. Even better than the 60s.
+Baron Von Lichtenstein Different, that's for sure.
no, no it wasn't
Schoolboys in Disgrace, Misfits and Sleepwalkers were all masterpieces. But this might be my favorite of them. Guitar and vocal.
The song is about Mick Jagger who Ray was around in London. "Your followers kiss your hand" is sung in Jagger imitation. Both Ray and Jagger players gigs around London before becoming famous. John was already famous and was from Liverpool.
I'd go with John Lennon as the topic of this great song....
This song is about john lennon!
There’s a Bowie-esque vocal melody in there so when first hearing this assumed it was aimed at Jonesy. Glad to hear it’s not the case. Great guitar on this.
If it’s Jagger, it’s kind of Jagger doing a Dylan impression.
"Your followers kiss your hands" sounds like Jagger.
Great song but I would have wanted more backing vocal parts ,...those keyboards sound nice though ,...
Doesn't everybody?
Thumbs up if you know somebody like this
Welcome to `Mr Big Man` all Slaughterhouse fans!!!
move on sample ;)
kinks are underrated! i'd rather play kinks than beatles! ray davies writes songs we can identify with rather than wanting to hold your hand lol!
Ray is a Bad Ass!
kinks they have been LYRICS-KINGS ,MORE GENIOUS BAND OF R N' R
his voice, expression awsum
I think it has to do with Jimmy Page and the controversy over who played lead on you really got me-death on two legs is about Queens original manager-
A Great Song from a vasly-under-rated LP...Thanks for this presentation, Best always, Ken
