Kinks, The - I Believed You Lyrics

I believed you
I believed you
Now it's up to me
I believed you
I believed you
Now it's up to me

I believed what you said
The lovin' days were through
But you were fooling around
I found somebody who,

Will never never take your place
Will never give me your embrace
But now that you've shown your face
You've broken her heart too.

I believed you
I believed you
Now it's up to me
I believed you
I believed you
Now it's up to me

Now what am I to do?
Now that you want me so
I just can't leave her blue
Or else I'll be alone

Well I just can't leave her now
It wouldn't be fair somehow
She loved me when my luck was down
Now you've broken her heart too

I believed you
I believed you
Now it's up to me
I believed you
I believed you
Now it's up to me

Now what am I to do?
Now that you want me so
I just can't leave her blue
Or else I'll be alone

Well I just can't leave her now
It wouldn't be fair somehow
She loved me when my luck was down
Now you've broken her heart too

I believed you
I believed you
Now it's up to me
I believed you
I believed you
Now it's up to me

I've been a Kinks fan since the 60's and shamefully must admit that I've never heard of the Ravens. My bad, and a thousand apologies to the Davies brothers. Favorite Kinks LP??? Muswell Hillbillies, no wait, Soap Opera, no wait, Show Biz, no wait, Kronikles, no wait.........

    you okay mate?

@Meddows, yup. Just can't decide which Kinks Lp is my fav. Thanks for your concern. A swell band.

Fascinating. Mersey influenced, for sure, but there's a longer and more detailed story in the lyric than is common for songs of the era. You couldn't predict where Ray Davies' writing would go on the basis of this one song, but it is pretty clear that it was going somewhere.

Bob Walsh Dave Davies wrote this one.

    The original garage band

Fantastic! It's possible to hear The pre-Kink Kinks sound here, especially in the choruses, although the verses themselves are much more generic. If I had come into this cold I would have gotten very excited at the intro, thinking, "Oh my goodness - lost Kinks!" and then convinced myself I was wrong.
