King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Down The Sink Lyrics

On the street, people make things happen
Concrete buildings greet the skyline
People meet by the subway station
Feel the heat from the sidewalk pavement

Under the city, people's dreams collecting
Look down the sinkhole in the kitchen basin

Down the sink
Back and forth, follow the stream, the city is bleak, forget all your dreams
Down you'll go
You can't compete, whatever it is, you can't defeat the pull of the street
You follow the drain, spinning around again and again, again and again
Once you're in
Forget every place you've ever been, the city is dark, you'll never be clean
Bow your head

The street is where, the street is where people live
The street is where, the street is where people die

On the beat, cops patrol the alley
People cheat one another for some
Hanging meat in the butcher's window
Bittersweet stench from in the gutter

Under the city, people's dreams collecting
Look down the plughole in the kitchen basin

Down the sink
Back and forth, follow the stream, the city is bleak, forget all your dreams
Down you'll go
You can't compete, whatever it is, you can't defeat the pull of the street
You'll follow the drain, spinning around again and again, again and again
Once you're in
Forget every place you've ever been, the city is dark, you'll never be clean
Bow your head

The street is where, the street is where people live
The street is where, the street is where people live
The street is where, the street is where people live
The street is where, the street is where people die

Under the city, people's dreams collecting
Look down the plughole in the kitchen basin
Down the sink
Down the sink
Down the sink
Down the sink

  1. S.... ....

The same band who wrote "lord of lightning" and "vomit coffin"
Why dont more bands do this?
    They covered all bases literally.
My exact thoughts for my own band and then i heard KGLW

    S.... ....

@Crawlz its the labels, they only let you do what sells unfortunately...unless you get a deal with XL records, Radioheads label...they give 100% creative control from what ive figured out....being that King Gizz has their own label they can do what they feel

  2. N.... P....

This sounds like a Mike Rempel
driven Lotus jam and I heckin love it

  3. N.... W....

reallly took me down the sink that time

  4. P.... ....

I kinda keep thinking of Queen of the Stone Age when listening to this song

  5. A.... W....

If they haven't yet, they should cover "Aqualung." Feel like that would be fun.

    A.... W....

Not sure that's their style, but really is anything not their style? I'd love that though since Jethro Tull is one of my all time favorite bands and kgatlw is one of my new absolute favorites

  12. B.... H....

Each song on this album is somehow better than the last. It's amazing.

    B.... H....

And this holds true both ways. Even if you listen the last song first and the first song last.
