King Diamond - Arrival Lyrics
"That must be it!"
Through the summer rain of 1845
The coach had finally arrived
To the valley where the crossroads meet below
People blame it on the hill...
The hill where no one dares to go
The Mansion... where no one dares to go
The coach had stopped, and from the window you could see
Seven horsemen in the night
Miriam Natias and Jonathan la Fey
Saw the magic in their eyes
They were in for a surprise...
The darkness would soon be complete
"We know you've come to inherit what's yours... The Mansion
Take our advice and go back on this night
If you refuse 18 will become 9..."
18 is 9!...
Jonathan laughed and said, "Get out of my way
I don't believe a word you say"
The seven horsemen disappeared into the night
"Someday you'll need our help, my friend..."
I think poor Jonathan was scared...
"18 is actually 9..." It stuck in his mind...

It really pisses me off that this is NOT the most viewed song on Youtube. 😑
..Well, King Diamond was the strongest "why" i became in a irredent metal head since 1987... i'm 45 aged...and still listening this album...so, people that dislike King Diamond (i'm pointing to all "metalcore dirty ass kids) them can go to fuck a lamp post...( en español: King Diamond fue el motivo mas fuerte de convertirme en un metalero sin remedio...y continúo escuchando este disco...y tengo 45 años...para los que no les gusta King Diamond (y me refiero a los chamacos culo lleno de caca fans del metalcore) pueden ir metiendose un poste de luz por el culo...jejejejejeje
Tengo 21 y yo inicié mi interés por el metal y sus variaciones con el metalcore. Porque eso fue lo que escuché cuando crecí y gracias a ese interés que nació ahora conozco bandas míticas como King Diamond.
Alejandro Mondragon I'm a "metalcore kid"
Metalcore bands got me really into metal, and made me want to start dimming. However, I love king. This album is one of mg favorites ever.
I just love metal. It's the best.
Rob Festa then you're almost evolving into "Metal Kid"! Go forth my boy we believe in you!
18 would become 9
This is THE Great, Marvelous and True Music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KIng where's the next story!!!! (2016) I know only Baron Samedi Known!!!!!!!!!
Que bien que crecí oyendo a estos demonios
Maravilloso tema del genial King Diamond
hail the king!!
this is one of the rare few albums that i love start to finish. coincidently, them and fatal portrait are 2 more lol
Conspiracy rules all the way through too.
That opening riff still brings tears to my eyes after all those years
id love to hear rob halfords version of this
Класс!!!
one of my favorite ablums of the king. first album of his I bought when I was young. but them ablum was what introduced me to this amazing band and vocalist.
me was give me your soul please
me was THE EYE..
That fucking intro just sheer simple perfection no other words probably my fav intro from any king diamond song
+michael ramos same here
+michael ramos I found this random album on tape in my house one day. My grandmother used to go to garage sales a lot and so I figure that's how we got it. Anyway, I didn't know what the expect. The vocals reminded me of Popeye and Olive doing a duet... (I was a kid and didn't really like the vocals much)... but holy fuck, I loved those damn guitars and all that crazy shit LaRoque and that other guy were doing. Eventually, I started to appreciate the vocals and I think they're fucking amazing now. But to a little kid who had very little metal background, it was a huge surprise and I've loved this song ever since... all the little breakdowns, changes in tempos, chord progressions... there's a lot happening in one song. The Trial is a close second favorite.
Lol... no disrespect to Diamond... that's just what I thought when I heard it as a kid. Hahaha... I think this band is amazing as well.
Plus everyone talking about the pattern of 18 and 9 should also keep in mind the symbolism it means for the album. 18 will become 9, 18 being the age of Miriam, 9 meaning she will become 9 months pregnant. Especially interesting since 9 is also half the number of her age in years, implying her pregnancy is almost like she is being pulled in 2, like, ONE becomes TWO.
But what does it all mean..?... let's find out...
But what does it all mean..?... let's find out...
You forgot that 1+8=9 plus, Jonathan is 27 years old... 2+7=9 too. Abigail II - The Revenge takes place 18 years after Abigail I. King has explained that 9 is a satanic number and he likes to use it. Oh! And in Abigail II, when Jonathan sees Abigail, because she looked a lot like Miriam, he asked her if he could call her Miriam, then Abigail said: "Miriam or Abigail is fine, you can even call me *Lucy*, for it is just a name". The name Lucy sounds like Lucifer. Plus, A-bi-gail, Jo-na-than and Mi-ri-am have 3 syllables and are 3 names. 3 times 3 is 9, which, as I said before, is a satanic number. Also, LaFey could be a parody of Anton LaVey, who was the founder of the Church of Satan.
@Load Game King does these fun things with words, like on the Mercyful Fate album Dead Again has the song Since Forever, which is pronounced like "sins forever"... And if you type Natias backwards, you'll get saitan. Hmm... now what does that sound like?
The Graveyard also has a song Lucy Forever.
As for the number 9, you can multiply it with any number and add the numbers in the answer together, and eventually you'll get 9.
9 * 8547 = 76923 -> 7+6+9+2+3 = 27 -> 2+7 = 9. However, there's no Satan or other magic involved, it's just how the math works with that particular number. Of course "satanic" sounds much cooler in the context of a horror stories.
uuff Que nivel
La raja
it IS black metal....Trust me
Guitar layering is very common.
There is not one aspects of King Diamond that is Black Metal. King Diamond is simply Traditional Heavy Metal but with horror themed lyrics. Incredibly unique extreme metal band.
cheseburger0912 A metal band with a unque theme.
Saying King Diamond is black metal is like also saying Iron Maiden is also black metal xd
what does it really matter?
Mercyful Fate (featuring King Diamond) were part of the first wave of Black Metal along with Bathory and Hellhammer. While King Diamond does not sound like Black Metal to you noobs, he was one of the originators of the genre and an influence on practically every Black Metal band that has followed. It is true that most of King Diamond's music can be classified as traditional Heavy Metal, it is important to note that the characteristics and definitions of genres shift over time. In the 70s AC/DC and Aerosmith were considered to be Heavy Metal, but listening to their 70s output in a modern context they would be classified as Hard Rock or just Rock.
I consider kind diamond hard rock metal, falsetto, shock, sometimes I feel like I'm listening to a play. It's entertaining & his vocals are insane. The guitarist is bad ass,the drummer also.
dude dont even say hes black metal
Black Metal
I must admit i hate that voice and probably will never grow on me but the guitar work is fantastic.
lo mejor del heavy \m/ AVE KING DIAMOND \m/
jose emmanuel navarrete gallegos poser
I never liked what King stood for, especially Fate lyrics because I believe in God. The main reason I liked this band since 87' was the musicians he always had. Especially Dee, Denner and La Rocque.
Believing in the devil reinforces your faith in God
amazing song, amazing voice, amazing story, amazing album..incredible
fucking phenominal voice
I bought this album in 87 in a german shop. Still sounds great today.
