King, Carole - Take Care Of My Baby Lyrics

My tears are fallin' 'cause you've taken her away
And though it really hurts me so
There's something that I've gotta say

Take good care of my ba-a-a-by
Please don't ever make her blu-u-u-ue
Just tell her that you love her
Make sure you're thinking of her
In everything you say and do-o-o-o

Aww, take good care of my ba-a-a-by
Now don't you ever make her cry-y-y-y
Just let your love surround her
Paint a rainbow all around her
Don't let her see a cloudy sky

Once upon a time that little girl was mine
If I'd been true, I know she'd never be with you

So, take good care of my ba-a-a-by
Be just as kind as you can be-e-e-e
And if you should discover
That you don't really love her
Just send my baby back home to me

Well, take good care of my ba-a-a-by
Be just as kind as you can be-e-e-e
And if you should discover
That you don't really love her
Just send my baby back home to me

Aww, take good care of my ba-a-a-by
Well, take good care of my ba-a-a-by
[Fade]
Just, take good care of my ba-a-a-by

She wrote, so many songs ,goffin, and Barry Mann. And that's her playing piano.💖.

Esta mujer es una privilegiada, pues es a quién le dedicó Neil Sedaka la canción Oh! Carol

This could be one of the greatest pop songs ever written. Carole King had such a fabulous ‘60’s voice. Bobby Vee’s version is THE only one that captures the same early ‘60’s feel as this version by King. Not Dion’s, the Beatles, or anyone else’s can compare in my opinion.

To add the single note on the piano to fill the last few parts of the song... Pure genius carole!!!!!! simple yet perfect...puts the rest of the versions of this incredible melody stuck in second..smokies rock version is great..he had repect to leave gerry's lyrics for the most alone and the sense to leave carole' arraignment alone..bravo!!

Brian Wilson had great respect for Carole King, here's a version of this song but done as if Brian Wilson arranged it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEQhb-lXN8k

It's important to remember that Gerry Goffin wrote the lyrics.  King rarely gives him credit when performing.

This is true enough for a fact but he wasn't a very good husband. Needless to say, she, Cynthia Weil, and Ellie Greenwich (RIP), were the first Successful Female Songwriters of the Rock Era. The Legacy continued with Pam Sawyer (Love Hangover) for Diana Ross, Linda Creed who with Thom Bell Co-Wrote The Stylistics Hit Records including You Are Everything and now for this Generation it's Dianne Warren whose Songs have been recorded by everyone from Beyonce, Aerosmith, Toni Braxton, not to mention Leanne Rhimes & Trisha Yearwood, The UK Girl Group The Sugababes biggest Hit Record is Too Lost In You.

This is actually Carole's SECOND demo of the song. Snuff Garrett wasn't happy with her first demo which he told her needed something to get it going. The song was first recorded by Dion without intro for one of his albums. So Carole and Gerry came up with this new version which featured a semi-spoken intro. Subsequently Bobby Vee nailed it as a number 1 hit in 1961.

@ted bie - "better"!!!!? - I think that's taking it a bit far! It's very raw in this demo form and would never have been the world-wide hit that the Snuff Garrett & Ernie Freeman recording achieved for Liberty.
