King, Carole - Crying In The Rain Lyrics

I'll never let you see
The way my broken heart is hurting me
I've got my pride and I know how to hide
All my sorrow and pain
I'll do my crying in the rain

If I wait for cloudy skies
You won't know the rain from the tears in my eyes
You'll never know that I still love you so
Though the heartaches remain
I'll do my crying in the rain

Raindrops falling from heaven
Could never wash away my misery
But since we're not together
I look for stormy weather
To hide the tears I hope you'll never see

Someday when my crying's done
I'm gonna wear a smile and walk in the sun
I may be a fool, but till then, darling, you'll
Never see me complain
I'll do my crying in the rain
I'll do my crying in the rain

  12. M.... L....

My favorite song of all time...by the Everly's

    M.... L....

    Me too!

  13. k.... ....

For me the best rendition of the song is by Tricia Penrose in the "Heartbeat"

Don Everly explained on stage many years that she along with the Everly Brothers and along with several other acts back in the pre-British invasion days were part of nationwide bus tour of rock and roll stars at one time, in those early years of R&R. She gave them this song. The big stars would travel by bus all of the United States in those days, some of these were organized by Dick Clark and put on shows in cities and towns big and small. Possibly this one was one of those, where they made each other's acquaintances and traded notes about music. King probably knew she could hardly give this song to no better act for the hope of making it a number one song, which it did achieve.  The songwriter's dream - maximum royalties.

Great background, thanks. (The Everly's cut actually peaked at #6 on the US Charts in '62, but the 1990 cover by the Norwegian band 'a-ha' did make it to #1 in Norway (and Argentina!) that year.
