Kim Carnes - Crazy In The Night (Barking At Airplanes) Lyrics
Sometimes I really think
I'm going crazy in the night
When I hide down in the covers
And I won't turn out the light
But then again it might
What can I do to keep from going
Crazy in the night
I need a drink of water
But I swallow hard instead
'Cause it's hard to move a muscle
When you're frozen in your bed
If I could make it to the phone
What can I do to keep from going
Crazy in the night
Sometimes she really thinks
She's going crazy in the night
When she hides down in the covers
And she won't turn on the light
She says nothing's gonna get to her
But then again it might
What can she do to keep from going
Crazy in the night
There's a monster on my ceiling
There's a monster on the wall
There are thousands in the closet
Now they're coming down the hall
I'm so hidden they can't find me
But then again they might
What can I do to keep from going
Crazy in the night
Sometimes she really thinks
She's going crazy in the night
When she hides down in the covers
And she won't turn out the light
She says nothing's gonna get to her
But then again it might
What can she do to keep from going
Crazy in the night
And if I disappeared
Do you think they'd ever look
Would I be headlines in the paper
Or the cover of the book
Got to pull myself together
I don't want to die of fright
What can I do to keep from going
Crazy in the night
Sometimes she really thinks
She's going crazy in the night
When she hides down in the covers
And she won't turn on the light
She says nothing's gonna get to her
But then again it might
What can she do to keep from going
Crazy in the night
Doo, doo, doo, doo...
Doo, doo, doo, doo...
Crazy in the night

This song isn't Crazy In The Night.....
What do you mean? Yes it is.
@jeffreychristIsAlive It's been changed....yesterday 02/09/20 they had Bette Davis Eyes......trust me I know my music.....
i had forgotten just how easy she is on the eye's
Is that Paul from the Letterman show on the keyboards??
👍🇷🇺✋1985 japan
Is Waddy Wachtel on guitar??? Wow!
best song ever
I heard this on the radio as a kid, and hounded my mom into buying me the 45 single. Loved it. However, I kept watching MTV hoping to see the video, but couldn't catch it for what seemed like a long time. (It was probably two days, but as a six-year-old kid, even that's a long time!) I had my parents and babysitters on MTV lookout duty, ready to yell at me at the first hint of those footstep sounds. Even they started to get into the buildup. Would I ever get to see it? Who knew?
Then the day came that my babysitter really saw it starting. She was excited, especially after she had given a false alarm, somehow to Sammy Hagar's "Three Lock Box." She just grabbed me away from my toys and sat me down in front of the TV.
I was watching it! Meh. All that anticipation, and it was just a performance video. Where were my monsters on the ceiling and the wall (and the thousands that were in the closet before they started coming down the hall)? What a let down! I even had to fake excitement because I knew my babysitter was happy to have been the one to get me to see it.
Oh well. I did draw a pretty cool picture of the monsters with some crayons on some loose-leaf paper to compensate. I even put the MTV-style credits for the song in the lower left corner. That was my "Crazy in the Night" imagery!
She was on SNL singing this song with three Frankensteins as back up singers with strobe lights
Really cool
Coast to coast AM plays this as bumper music.
sleep paralysis i suffer from it too
Too many over-saturated vocals and crazy arrangement just KILLS this song for me. I'm surprised it actually made it to #15 on the charts! Kim Carne's had a decent singing voice. Raw and Raspy. She should have been singing more hard rock tunes in my opinion. Like Ann Wilson or Pat Benatar.
I see Waddy Wachtel on lead guitar. 😏
Only the cool know him🤙
Great song .ps im from the eighties. What a great decade.
This would fit fright fest at six flags well
Was reminded of this while at goodwill, they play good music there
If the Muppet Show was still around at the time, this song plus a few Muppet Monsters would go together real nicely.
This lady's voice-So distinctive!
It's been said by one music critic that her voice sounds like the female Rod Stewart; I didn't think to make that comparison, but I agree.
80's music is awesome, fantastic, fabulous.
Does anyone know the names of the musicians who accompanied her?
So sick of this commercial Google
I picked ( Mum got it for me) this single when I was 6 years old (1985- on a record) as I loved the song...me and my cousin's even made a 'Monster' (home) video clip for it as we liked making and watching home videos..Now my cousin's little kids still listen to that old record in 2019...and they love it!!!
Dear Kim,
Please come back and do a sequel, Crazy In The Day!
Does anyone know, who the bassist in the video is?
oh my god. How 80s is that? I love it!
This would be a perfect song to play during the fright fest time at six flags
The intro sounds like taylor swift's welcome to new york
My favorite song off the album. It should have went to number one.

Kim carnes bette Davis musica infinita ritmo alla grande io dj alessandro mossuto radio marconi caltanissetta 2 maggio 2019
On this day in 1985 {April 27th} Kim Carnes was guest on the ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandsatand'...
Two weeks later her "Crazy In The Night" would enter Billboard's Top 100 chart at position #65, nine weeks later it peaked at #15 {for 1 week}...
Between 1979 and 1984 the California native had nineteen records on the Top 100 chart, three* made the Top 10 with one reaching #1, "Bette Davis Eyes", for 9 weeks on May 10th, 1981...
Four of nineteen charted records were duets; one each with Gene Cotton, Kenny Rogers, Randy Meisner, and Barbra Streisand...
And one of her charted records was as a member of a trio, herself with Kenny Rogers and James Ingham, the song was "What About Me?" and it peaked at #15 in 1984...
Ms. Carnes will celebrate her 74th birthday in two months on July 20th, 2019...
* Besides "Bette Davis Eyes", her two other Top 10 records were "More Love" {#10 in 1980} and "Don't Fall In Love With A Dreamer" {a duet with Kenny Rogers, #4 in 1980}...
Is that Waddy Wachtell on guitar?
Man Kim Carnes is so underrated... Such an amazing singer with an unbelievable and raspy voice! It's a pity, that most of the people (also me) only know/knew the song "Bette Davis Eyes" from her.
This is the first time I have ever heard this song ever.
Great song to play at a Halloween party!
oh my god l totally forgot about this song...a good one.. 2019
Waddy Wachtel on guitar..🤟
Is that Paul Shaffer on keyboard?
I thought that too
I like Kim but this song is awful all around..lyrics, composition, arrangement...
i feel the 80's right now...
let's dance~!!!
What a sultry voice! I played the heck out of this song when it came out. It just gets better as the years go by.
Proof that a woman fully clothed can still be absolutely stunning and beautiful.
This song was a number 1 almost all songs on 80s on 8 to those djs are lost hits
Damn I had never heard this song before they randomly played in on coast to coast am. Quite surprised because this seems like it would have been a huge hit. Good song. I love 80's music. And they say the 80's in the worst era of music.
I always thought the male voices on the chorus sounded like they should be Muppets. I could picture her doing this song on the Muppet Show sitting in a bed and then on the chorus a bunch of monsters would pop out from under it. Maybe Uncle Deadly could do a verse. Maybe Sweetums.
come here baby,i'll kept you safe,,at night,
Took me forever to find this song. I always kept thinking it might have been a lost song never to be found again.
SUPER !!!
I wish the Mandela effect would have trapped me in the 80s
I have the doppler effect, thats why I sound different after a big night out!
God I love her Hair!!!
A lot of good hair in this video
Reached number 15 on U.S. charts, and 11 on New Zealand charts (my country). 1985.
personally, I LOVE this song. It's a classic 80s masterpiece. I'll always choose this over the shit they release these days.
Damm I wish I was around for the 80s
I love her raspy voice, it's absolutely perfect for the 80s music scene.
Oh man, music will never be the same. In the 80s we had this, we had Toto, we had Pink Floyd and all the other gems.
Now we have mumbling idiots that can't even spell their name right.
Pěkné.
Only known Kim from Bette Davis Eyes. First I've heard this. This is awesome!
She sounds terrific, looks gorgeous and has great stage presence in this video. Plus she wrote the song herself and it's awesome. I would have loved to see her collaborate with Ann Wilson on something.
This brings back some great memories of Ocean City, MD summer of '85! ♥️ Damn I miss the 80's!
rod stewart voice she have and opposite too!!
This was 4 Years After Kim .s 1981 Album Mistaken Identity
I had forgotten this song till I heard it on Coast to Coast AM awhile back.
One of those husky voices.
Just like yours and I'm still going crazy thinking about you.
Halloween 2018 - rock on 80's fans!
I wish 80's on eight would continually play THIS...y'know, like they do all the other ten songs they repeat religiously.
I met Kim in a restuarant 20 years ago. She was pretty cool
I met her in Nashville, she is cool.
i love that song!
What a character and what remarkable voice no other vocal singer process such a voice in talent
Crazy in the night. Esse sou eu
😘😘
One of my favorites, as a teenager in 1985.
one of my favourites too
I wasn't even born when this song came out, but damn I love this song!
Love her
Ringing husky circles with all the might.
Radio days...
Ouvindo agosto 2018
Cheesy but man you got to love the outfit she is wearing. Ah just get some good musicians and you got a catchy tune.
Nice. She has great voice and talent.
Anyone else think this sounds like Just Another Manic Monday?
Very underrated song.
Underrated just like her... Such a shame, because She's so good!
Anybody get a "Shadows of the Night" vibe by Pat Benetar from this Jam? I was actually singing it with the rhythm? Actually think Benetar stole it.
Fabulous! Love this song! X
Great memories!
Pretty good Halloween tune! Like it better than Bette Davis Eyes
Kim carnes a melhor cantora de todos os tempo
I used to listen to this on nights when my insomnia and bipolar episodes kept me awake. It felt good finding humor in my insanity by listening to this song. :P
sounds like magic by the cars
Jerico Torres i was actually getting a "shadows of the night" vibe from pat benetar
Is that Shrader in there?
Great 80s stuff.
Monumental !!
Originally written and recorded by an Australian band called The Sherbs in 1980. Then covered by Tina Turner for the "Summer Lovers" soundtrack. I put all 3 in my Tina playlist. Thanks for the upload!
@Trfesok I checked out the Tina song based on your comment and that is a completely different song. It may be a Sherb's cover, but it has nothing to do with Kim Carnes. Kim Carnes wrote this song. It would appear that the two songs share a title and that is all. Cheers! Christopher
I heard this today on Coasttocoastam show: "Cattle Mutilation Puzzle/ JFK Revelations (May 14, 2017)."
Ah - the 80's! Does anyone believe this is over 30 years ago? My teen youth creeps back in when I hear a lost song like this. It was a GIFT to grow up in the 80's a GenX'er.
WHEN I WAS YOUNG.... I ALWAYS HID DOWN UNDER THE COVERS SWEATING, FREAKING OUT TIL THE SUN CAME UP. I HATED SLEEPING BY MYSELF. HAD SOME HORRIBLE MORBID DREAMS!! STILL NOT FOND OF THE DARK!!!!!
I just love this song so much. Reminds me of when I had nightmares as a child and woke up in the middle of the night being so scared! I've always loved Kim Carnes' voice and in this song, it is even better. Love also the male voices as background vocals. One of my favorite song from Kim Carnes!
This is my girlfriend Ally's favorite song
really ROCKer woman👏👍🌻
Thank you so much for everyone involved making this song and not thinking 'that whole 'do do dooo' thing is ridiculous and will never catch on!'
It's the best part of the song!
my favorite Kim Carnes Album -was such a great collection of songs-well produced
I agree. Kim did a good job with the album. This is one of my favorite songs off the barking at airplanes album.
Big hair and a catchy song
I like Kim Carnes but I hated this song. Formulaic schlock with retarded lyrics. The ever dependable Waddy Wachtel is the only bright spot.
Love this song from Kim along with Voyuer and Bette Davis Eyes! She was great!!
