Killers, The - Tyson Vs. Douglas Lyrics

Looking out the window out on the street
I don't know what happened, I'm out on my feet
I hear my mother calling my name
I still come running but I ain't the same

You can change the channel
Take the phone off the hook
Avoid the headline
But you'll never grow up baby if you don't look

When I saw him go down
Felt like somebody lied
I had to hold my breath
Till the coast was clear
When I saw him go down
Felt like somebody lied
I had to close my eyes
Just to stop the tears

You're used to winning, how did it feel?
Did you hear the screaming? It was unreal
What did they pay you? What did it cost?
How long did it take you to know that you lost?

You can hit the shower
Fill the place up with steam
And close the curtain
But when you woke up, man, it wasn't no dream

When I saw him go down
Felt like somebody lied
I had to hold my breath
Till the coast was clear
When I saw him go down
Felt like somebody lied
I had to close my eyes
Close my eyes
Just to stop the tears

Looking out the window out on the street
My boy and his mother and I think of me
I'm feeling the slip again, I don't wanna fall
You said it was nothing, but maybe you're wrong

When I saw him go down
Felt like somebody lied
I had to hold my breath
Till the coast was clear
When I saw him go down
Felt like somebody lied
I had to close my eyes
Just to stop the tears
Just to stop the tears
Just to stop the tears

Bu ve out of my mind nedense çok dinlediklerim şu günlerde. Öyle denk oldu. Killersla da songpop sayesinde tanıştım. How did u find me havası var şarkıda biraz.

I don't think this song is just about the person on top who falls. It is about that, but so much more in my opinion. I think the first verse and the chorus are about the person watching the fall and affected by that, hence "When I saw him go down". I think this song is specifically about his mother dying, the one person he thought would never fall, and he's using the Tyson vs Douglas fight as a metaphor for that simply because they're a Las Vegas band paying homage to Las Vegas. That's why there's so many references to his mother, and this was written after she had died. I think it's about finding solace and being able to accept that it happened ("you'll never grow up if you don't look"). The last two verses though are probably about not wanting to make a mistake when you're on top. So he may have started writing this song to be simply about a hero falling but then changed it to be a metaphor after his mother died.

  25. R.... R....

    Wonderful song!

  26. A.... C....

I think this song tells you that if you are on the top and you suddenly make a mistake or lose in something rather easy, you should accept that it happened, stand up from your knees and keep on fighting.
What's more, Even the best person can make a stupid mistake and won't meet our expectation, but we shouldnt blame his/her for that.

    A.... C....

    but sometimes we should

    A.... C....

The song is more about seeing your idols fall and how that can change your view of the world and the fear of being the idol of someone (like your children) and letting them down.

  27. R.... ....

Makes me feel emotional. Getting David Bowie vibes, I like it.

  28. B.... ....

Such an awesome song and sound, shame it was wasted on such a pointless subject

    B.... ....

not every song has to be deeply meaningful, it should just be well written and creative. and this song is a dreamy perspective of something that impacted the writer in their childhood... i don’t see how it could be pointless

    B.... ....

The topic of the song is far from pointless. It's a kids mentality of holding people on a level larger than life. Tyson losing was the defining moment he realised how real life was. That life is filled with flawed human beings and heroes. It's a song about growing up

    B.... ....

It was the biggest upset in boxing history.. You weren't alive back then.. Boxing used to be huge.. Buster Douglas was a 1000 to 1 underdog. His mom died and he trained his ass off.. Tyson didn't train. The stars aligned for Douglas that night...

    B.... ....

Jesus christ. He's using the Tyson vs Douglas upset as a metaphor for his mother dying. His mother died of cancer. This is about accepting that it happened and that the person he thought could never die or be gone did and is. He mentions his mother about 4 times in this song and everybody just acts like those lyrics weren't relevant or doesn't mention them at all. The end part is him saying he's worried about his children having to go through the same thing eventually when he "falls".

    B.... ....

Bootleg-Hero the killers are from Las Vegas - the capital of boxing!

  29. K.... M....
