Kevin Morby - I Have Been To The Mountain Lyrics
Calling out
Demanding answers
Pleading skies
Cry for hours
Dropping peace bombs
A sky that mirrors
A sky that stares as I sing
I have been to the mountain
And I have walked on his shore
I have seen but I can't see him no more
Round 'em out, make an echo
Destroy the destroyer
And do it fast
Til that pig took him down
And have you heard the sound
Of a man stop breathing, pleading?
I have been to the valley
And I have sung all her songs
Watch me sing
Watch me sing along
And I say
I have been to the mountain
And I have walked on his shore
I have seen but I can't see him no more

The Dawn Wall brought me here
David Friedman awesome me as well! I have watched that video over 4 times now shits inspiring.
Awesome song choice for an awesome movie, Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson are total bosses
@BumbleC truth.
David Friedman Same! Not the type of music I listen to often...but this guys stuff is amazing...I’m glad that movie introduced me to his library.
INCREIBLE
Just ran into this. Bitchin'
I think the video is great. The voice is cool. The beat is absolutely to groove .. like the music of easy going Kevin Morby! also Har.Riv. very nice!
The layered production of this reminds me of Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound" style of music production. Listen to Awaiting On You All by George Harrison, pretty similar.
Good music sounds as if it could have been made 30 years ago or yesterday. This is that kind of song not to mention its hella catchy.
this is absolutely stunning man!
Mike Ness :D
What a fab concept. Also, the dancer looks trained in ballet :D
Que bueno esto.
Love this sound

Wild Wild Country bought me here..What about you?
maggieznoodles discovered it before wwc, but forgot it existed until I heard it on episode 2 and it sounded a lot more badass than I remember. Great song
love the concept, but sad that I don't get to enjoy any of the dancer's *amazing* footwork. It's all totally cut off.
What? You've been to the mountain and you didn't even take off your shoes? Pffffffff!
Anyone else here from Wild Wild Country?
here from The Dawn Wall - another great documentary on Netflix... I didn't realize this was in Wild Wild Country too.
Wild Wild Country brought me here.
Somebody should let this guy know that "white people cant dance".
Wild wild country!
Wild wild country
wild wild country hell yeah
A short article about the song https://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/17979-kevin-morby-i-have-been-to-the-mountain/
sneaky pete!
This song is terrible. It's a pathetic attempt at ripping off guns of Brixton by the Clash, but sounds more like a bad song from the cool runnings 2 soundtrack . And the vocals are like a drunk guy trying to sound like Bob Dylan at a cruise ship karaoke contest. As far as the message. Well this idiots knowledge of current events probably comes from snl weekend update. Lame attempt by a moron trying to sound politically relevant. That is all
I wonder if they had Four Tet's permission to slow down Love Cry for the video intro...
hey excellent
I love this dancer
this is AWESOME. ORIGINAL.
Is that the bassist? Looks like him
Sounds like Bill Fay.
Dis sounds like cage the elephant???
Sneaky Pete?
Another FIGJAM that sounds better than he looks....
masterpiece.
Anyone know how they get that sound for the guitar solo?
By playing a distorted organ lol
John Turturro is looking good these days...
nathan mitchell´s khreat

Whats worth livin for
WTF is with the dislikes?
what a dancer that guy!
He's so handsome
masterpiece
Sneaky Pete
heard from sneaky pete
sneaky pete!!
Sneaky Pete brought me here....
So maybe this is just me, but is that like *the* exact bass line from Guns of Brixton? For the verses at least.
Is this music video the indie world's answer to Sia's "Chandelier"?
Sneaky Pete made me watch a man half naked dancing...ok then
fist i thought Kevin sits at 2:47 in the background, but obviously the end is the part where he is in the video :D:D:D
Love it! Briljant ❤
I guess now they send him to another kind of hospital.
He should have given the old lady in the wheelchair a lap dance.
The dislike ratio (for those who wanted to know) is probably because the song is about the death of Eric Garner caused by a NYPD officer putting him in a chokehold while arresting him.
''Round 'em out, make an echo
Destroy the destroyer
And do it fast
That man lived in this town
Til that pig took him down
And have you heard the sound
Of a man stop breathing, pleading?''
Thank You
Eric Garner was a thug. He resisted arrest. He was choked out for something like 20 seconds. Ive endured choke holds lasting for 30 seconds plus. Anyway, the chokehold did not kill him. The officer did his job, and well at that. https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/eric-garner-chokehold-grand-jury-police/2014/12/04/id/611058/
Richard Sneed he was put in a chokehold for selling cigarettes and died as a result of his injuries after telling the office he couldn’t breathe. If you think that’s an acceptable way for law enforcement to act then you’re part of the problem.
@Jason R you are ... funny, stupid, naive, choose wisely! Music has is ways to become... whatever
I just don't like it, but I have to put up with it at work.
Great song! The bass line reminds me of the one from the chorus of Slow Cheetah by RHP.
Hands In Pockets exactly what I was thinking
