Kentucky Headhunters, The - Southern Belle Lyrics
Way down in old South Georgia where the sweet magnolias grow
There's a girl in that city that I left so long ago.
We were getting married in the courthouse yard that day.
But her daddy was the judge and he said, "Son, there ain't no way."
She was waitin' at the courthouse. As she waved, I waved good-bye.
He said, "Boy, you ain't our kind. You don't belong here anymore.
Gather up your Yankee ways. Take that ring back to that store."
One day, I'll ring that southern belle
And I'll go back to that town and they'll hear my rebel yell.
I'll say, "The war is over. We're all one, can't you tell?
Old Dixie, hear me callin'." - when I ring that southern belle.
Way down in old South Georgia where the sweet magnolias grow
She never did get married. She's still waitin' there for me.
Like that dear old south I love, some things are meant to be.
One day, I'll ring that southern belle
And I'll go back to that town and they'll hear my rebel yell.
I'll say, "The war is over. We're all one, can't you tell?
Old Dixie, hear me callin'." - when I ring that southern belle.
Old Dixie, hear me callin' - when I ring that southern belle.

Great song by the Kentucky Headhunters! Thanks John, I very seldom hear them anymore...could be because I very seldom listen to a radio anymore.
Thanks for listening Ruth.YouTube & my own music is my Radio
@john sandiford TV music channels and YouTube are my source now for years it was mostly radio, didn't have much time and didn't know about YouTube for quite a while...was busy taking care of family, children and in-laws, children and grandchildren then children and great grandchildren. This is the first year I did not have responsibilities that came first! LOL The songs I do know were on the radio, MTV with my children, etc. had some early recordings...gave most of those to Donna! And I worked many of those years outside my home! So thank you, thank you for the shares and the music groups! : )
Don't think they get much radio play anymore. Since they kind of devolved into a cover band.
