Kenny Rogers - They Don't Make Them Like They Used To Lyrics
They don't make 'em like they used to, those guys
And I can't get used to the way that it is today
No one to look up to, hard times, and though I try
I just can't find the reason these days
And it seems like the seasons are passing me
And it goes on, so count on me, and I'll count on you
You can lean on me, two of us stronger
We won't be alone any longer
Now and for always we will be good friends
Count on me, into any storm, we're gonna survive it
Into any fire, we'll carry on.
Know that one day you and me will both be old friends
And we'll sit on the sofa and talk about how
As time goes on, so count on me, and I'll count on you
In a world like this, when nothing's sure
And people are afraid, I'll be here for '
Now and for always we will be good friends
Count on me, they don't make it now like they used to
They're not gonna last like you and me, I'll be there.
Oh, always we will be, year by year
Depend on me, into any storm, we're gonna survive it
Into any fire, just count on me, I'll be there
Oh, tough guys, you and me, year by year
They will see, they don't make it now like they used to
They're not gonna last like you and me...

Now ain't that something beautiful
Prince wrote this song as a gift to Kenny Rogers to sing and if it made money they would share it if it didn't they would just call it a day.
Amazing song
Prince made this song
Ummmmm......NOPE.....Prince covered it.
Still listening in 2019 ❤
I absolutely love this song. Tough Guys was one of my favorite movies growing up. I still can see the opening scene as the camera pans over old photos and mementos as this song plays. Long live Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas! (Kirk is amazingly still alive at the time of this comment)
Played this at my dad's funeral last year. he loved "tough guys", and was one himself. his tombstone was like him, solid, strong, but rough around the edges.
id probably love your dad, and i know i love you
yeah, they dont make them like they used to.. which is why im only partially satisfied with the one i saw tonight...
They sure as hell don't!!!!!!!
When singers and songs were great
this song went to #10 on the adult contemporary charts in 1986!!!
Tough guy film tickles me.quite nostalgic but funny as hell with 2 legend actors and Leon be little.when Leon says to old girl "ey Jane fonda" she says i warn you I know karate.he pulls out his shotgun and says "I know winchester " the way she lowers her karate stance ha.great song as well smooth as silk is kenny
YES! Good comment. Pop is aged 80 & in great health, but I have already chosen this tune as the theme for his funeral. Tough Guys is the all time favourite film. Tears... but hope to have another 15 with Pop
Still listening in 2018...
Just love it, classic and great song
no....they don't
history lesson. the movie tough guys had a famous steam locomotive staring in it. the SP daylight #4449. the last remaining high speed steam locomotive in the US. She can still do her top speed of 100 MPH.
611 says "hi!"
844 did high speed passenger service, too!
behind this Burt Bacharach...
Thank s whole album is his practically. I want more info on why Kenny even did this album. He never made anything like it really. It's like a Micheal McDonald album. Lol.
A VERY underrated song. one of the best from Kenny.
a fucking men
The opening song in the movie "Tough Guys".
So nice.........
Today is April 30. It was today in 1987 that I saw Kenny Rogers at the Hampton Coliseum in Virginia. Ronnie Milsap & T. Graham Brown opened.
My first real concert! I saw them at Carver Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City around then! Ronnie Milsap said there was not better place to hear music in the world THAT night anywhere! And he was CORRECT! T.Graham opening for Ronnie-then Kenny! At their peak as was country radio-ALL Down hill since! Country music and radio is DEAD but real country music from the 80's will never DIE!
They don't make em like they used to...
