Still not sure what this song is actually about, but I interpret it as the one he loves has passed away/left him. And he knows where she loved to go, so he goes there to feel close to her, looking for her, hoping to find her again.

It reminds me of my husband. We live right by the beach, so if I were to ever be lost, I’m sure that’s the first place he’d look. And I’m sure he’d find me “dancing in the water” 😂 Not to mention he’s Mexican, and he’s slowly teaching me Spanish so “el cerrito place” just makes me love this song even more. Such a sweet song that gets sweeter every time I listen to it because it reminds me of the sweetest love I’ve ever known.
