Kele - St Kaepernick Wept Lyrics

St Kaepernick Wept

See the odds are stacked against him they're waiting for you to fail
You trace your steps in snow make it rain, make it hail
He's gonna use his legs to run past the endzone
He's gonna use his heart to grow wings

And in the congregation, waiting for the Holy Ghost
He's gonna sing a song that will wake up the whole world
All the brethren and sisteren were waiting for a mist, us
To lead us to the promise land, I hope I haven't missed you

All I see I signs, all I feel is limits
All we see is broken, all we feel is finished
Trying to fix a system that we could never win in

Don't Omarosa on me now
The dollars in the NFL
Will not put words in my (will not put words in my)
Will not put mouth in my mouth

See, I don't believe in heaven
But I believe in you
See, I don't believe in heaven
But I believe in you, you

St Kaepernick Wept
St Kaepernick Wept (St Kaepernick wept)

What does the flag mean to the ghost of Emmett Till?
When there's freedom, liberty and justice, but not for all?
He's was gonna change the face of your ghetto neighbourhood
If you let him live

Riding through the trees
[?] where I'm from
We must teach our sons to cower, we must teach our sons to run
If they want to live

'Cause he got got standing on the block
Said the wrong thing to the wrong cop
Oh, well, what's he got?
Paid leave, a full stop

'Cause he got shot whilst he's kids watched
Sign of the times as the world thought
He was just another hand out for welfare
Headed to the prison industrial complex

See, I don't believe in heaven
But I believe in you
See, I don't believe in heaven
But I believe in you

See, I don't believe in heaven
But I believe in you
See, I don't believe in heaven
But I believe in you, you, you

The road ahead is not
The path you chose, far gone
When they speak your name you know you've done us proud
And we won't forget what you gave for us

Masterpiece. The drum work. The angelic backing chorus carries so many elements Hope despair melancholy and perseverance all at once. A creative high. Love it.

Very creative perspective on the black lives matter movement. Beautiful song. A lot of thought went into writing this.
