My great grandfather was an expert marksman in the army in WWII, he had 13 successful beachhead landings, his first stop was GuadaCanal (spellcheck), he was my best friend as a child. He died when I was about 5, I miss him to this day. He was one HELL of a MAN. They don’t make them like they used too.

I’m 15 and getting to the age when I decide if I will join the army any advice. I have a lot of friends who a graduating this year and have committed to the army.

Try ROTC in school first, if still an option, then consider Air Force. Armies fly or float to the battle area.
You can take college courses in any branch of the military.

I wish so bad to be an American soldier it I am 340 pounds 6 foot 3 there is no greater wish in my life than to serve my country hopefully one day I will be able that all I wish

As a daughter of a strong mother who decided to joint the army to provide for her two young kids I actually hate this song because my mom was deployed in Iraq during the war and I always thought that my mom would come home in a flag covered casket as her friends did and I remember every time this song came on the radio I would always cry because this made me think of it more but I was so happy when my my mom came home safe and sound which is not true for a lot - too many - of the soldiers who have been shipped out the same way mom was but I just wanna say always keep in mind when the soldiers who have the ultimate sacrifice for this god forsaken county who honestly doesn’t deserve it. Please keep in mind the veterans who came home and were homeless because of the way we treated them just please be kind to one another.

My husband passed recently and he was talking to our sons who served in the military and he made a comment that if we could get rid of the politicians and the politically correct people and let the soldiers do there jobs things we be a lot better. He was very bitter about when was in Vietnam and even worse how all the men and women who served there where treated when they came home. My sons say this song is about there father in a sense.

This song really hits me hard. It’s so beautiful, a great message, Toby describes the hard life of being a soldier. I’ll say it, due to medical issues I couldn’t serve our country, and it broke my heart. I come from a military family. But even being stuck as a civilian, and being a proud American, I’ll stand by our brothers and sisters. Those who fight to keep us safe. I’m no soldier, but I’ll support them any way I can, and pray that they all come home safe.
