Katherine Jenkins - Cinema Paradiso / Se Lyrics

E petto a petto, noi
Respiriamo insieme

Protagonista del tuo amor
Non so se sia magia o lealta

Se tu fossi nella mia anima un giorno
Sapresti cosa sono in me
Che m'innamorai
Da quell'istante insieme a te
E cio che provo e
Solamente amore

[ENGLISH:]

If you were in my eyes for one day
You could see the full beauty of the joy
I find in your eyes
And it isn't magic or loyalty

If you were in my heart for a day
You would have an idea
Of what I feel
When you hold me strongly to you
Heart to heart,
Breathing together

Protagonist of your love
I don't know if its magic or loyalty

If you were in my soul for a day
You would know what is inside me
That I fell in love
At that instant, together with you
And what I sense
Its only love.

    @DocDLH

Have I replied to your post? If not here is my comparison. Katherine has a more mature, stronger voice than Jackie has and one would expect that because Jackie is still so young. Notice that Jackie has to take more breaths than Katherine because Jackie's lungs are still very small(as she is) and do not have the capacity of a grown woman's.

Their quality and timbre are almost identical which is very unusual because you rarely hear a Soprano(Jackie) with the warm, dark tones of a Mezzo(Katherine). I'm just glad Katherine didn't use her Classical voice because her vibrato is horrible from trying to force more volume through her vocal apparatus.

Where Jackie really excels is her interpretation. She gets "into" the song to such an extent that her rendition is almost always preferred over other singers'. Katherine OTOH is very "mechanical". She rarely strays from the "accepted" way of singing the song which limits her impact.

All that said, I STILL prefer Katherine on this song. But Jackie is still growing and I predict she will surpass Katherine on Se in the near future.

    E.... C....

So you say Jackie is gasping for air and has to breath often. Quit counting the number of breaths and listen to both of them on quality audio equipment. Their quality and timbre (tone of voice) are not almost identical. Jackie's tone is smooth and solid. She controls it with precision. Her control of the volume (presentation and interpretation) of all songs she sings has no equal. No one comes close to matching the skills Jackie has now. There are minor elements she will improve in. I expect her to experiment with the pop scene during the next few years. David Foster said she has the abilities to be successful in classical and pop. Pop is where the big bucks and fame can be found.

    E.... C....

    @foxfoxtruth
Read my post again and see if you can find where I said Jackie is "gasping for air". Don't put words into my mouth I didn't say.

    E.... C....

One thing about Katherine is if you don't like her voice you can turn down the volume and just watch. Equally pleasurable.

  63. E.... C....

You and I and Doc have the same tastes in singers. :)

  64. C.... R....

    Superb song and the voice...WOW...

  65. t.... ....

@dieseldog00 just listened to Hannah's "Se". Beautiful voice. Very similar to Katherine's .... Almost thought she was though there is a difference in phrasing. Katherine, Hannah and Jackie seem to have similar voices. Amazing thing though is that most people listening to all three would be hard put to believe that one of them is only 12 years old!

  66. E.... C....

Stunningly lovely. I wish she would use this voice on every song she sings.

  67. E.... C....

Have you heard Hannah sing it? She also has a great classical voice. Just type Hannah Magnelli in the search bar. Click on the vid showing her in the studio. I think you'll be impressed with her voice AND beauty.

  68. t.... ....

This is one of Katherine Jenkins' better performaces. I usually don't like her vibrato but it is magnificent in this rendition. She does sound like Jackie or vice versa in this song. Katherine's lower notes sounded beautiful. I still prefer Jackie's rendition because....hard to explain .... Jackie is Jackie and her voice is like no other!

  69. D.... ....

Jackie's voice has an unusual ability to somehow reach something below the surface within you that simply resonates. It's a confluence of perfect pitch, a smooth richness of voice and phrasing, and the lingering magic of a child's voice ... which has lends somewhat angelic character to the experience ... maybe because it is such an evanescent phenomenon. My 20+ daughter agrees and senses it also; so JE crosses generations as well.

  70. E.... C....

Added thought; for me, listening to Jackie, Katherine and Hannah Magnelli on this song, Katherine's voice pleases me more. As Jackie matures, I think her voice will come closer to Katherine's, as will her beauty. I want to hear them sing more duets together.

  71. E.... C....

Their voices are surprisingly similar. Katherine's voice here flows like warm butter while Jackie's voice is a bit less "mature". Jackie also takes breaths where Katherine does not and I attribute that to the fact that Jackie is still a young girl. She is also still very small so her chest cavity hasn't expanded quite enough yet to give her the lung capacity to hold notes as long as adults can do. However, she is bigger than she was at AGT so she IS holding her notes longer. Time and growth. :)

  72. D.... ....

Jackie's rendition is simply stunning. It isn't better necessarily in the purity of notes but in the overall phrasing and voice "quality and timbre." I'll be interested to read your thoughts on the comparison.

  73. D.... ....

I also like Jackie's slightly better, for reasons posted on other sites and won't be repeated. Katherine and Jackie are similar enough to be Mother and Daughter!

  74. D.... ....

    Magical.

  75. J.... N....

    Absolutely exquisite...................!

  76. M.... S....

Que versión más bonita, es preciosos el sobre agudo de los violines...Es que esta composición es especial una genialidad de melodía. Maestro Morricone

  77. d.... ....

poo-poo dung dung , yeah the answer of the kind ass I am...

  78. C.... B....

What kind of ass are you?

  79. E.... R....

    she's a beautiful singer,
    thanks for sharing.

  80. E.... C....

Jackie's version of CP is here on yt now just do the search.

  81. L.... G....

Hermoso emotivo excelente interpretacion urra!!! por Kathy

  82. E.... C....

I call this voice her "Cinema Paradiso voice". It is warm, enveloping and very compelling. Plus her perfect pitch is stunning. I can't wait for Jackie Evancho's new album Songs of the Silver Screen. She sings it.

  83. d.... ....

Boring! this subtle melody loose its charm when interpreted by a virtuous of the Bel canto. And these violins that over do it ...really heavy

  84. E.... C....

I say "none come near to this" but I am wrong. Hannah Magnelli sings this song very similar to Katherine. Their voices are astoundingly close in every respect. A video of Hannah in the studio is here on youtube check it out it's very difficult to tell them apart.

  85. C.... M....

That first note goes directly into my heart... like a gentle dart! This is one of her best in all aspects.

For me, one of the puzzling features of Katherine's unique use of her voice (which some people see as "flawed" because it isn't "their standard") is... that she constantly surprises me with her choices on how she interprets a song. &Her voice is immediately recognizable as HER VOICE. &As David Foster mentions:That recognition factor is essential to the best loved voices=All venues.

  86. L.... V....

    emocionante bravo

  87. j.... l....

    Belissima

  88. E.... C....

Her tone is like smooth warm butter. If she sang every song like this no one could listen to her without crying.

  89. h.... ....

He knows about Katherine of course ,how could he not .She is the No1 female crossover singer of this time..

  90. A.... R....

    maravilhosamente belo.

  91. E.... C....

    Translation please?

  92. E.... C....

    I'm glad you did. :)

  93. E.... C....

If you're addressing me I say opinions are like assholes; everybody's got one. You're a female so of course you would like a man's voice. I like male voices too but Groban leaves me cold as well. Carlos Marin of Il Divo on the other hand...

  94. K.... D....

SEEMS LIKE YOU NEVER HAVE HEARD GREAT LYRIC SINGERS, HER VOICE IS ONE MORE... NOTHING SPECIAL AND I FEEL HER A LITTLE COLD WHEN SHE SING.
FOR "CINEMA PARADISO" I PREFER MORE JOSH GROBAN AND FOR "PARLA PIU PIANO" THE BEST VERSION IS BY ROBERTO ALAGNA.

  95. j.... ....

Yes, it is a good song and she sings it well, thank you for telling me about it. I enjoyed it.

  96. E.... C....

-I sent this link to Maestro Morricone on his FB page. I didn't know if he had heard Katherine sing it so I wanted him to listen to it. I know he loves Hayley Westenra's voice, and this song is on her new album, but for me, Katherine owns this song. I've heard everybody else sing it and none come near to this. Of all the CC singers I think only Jackie Evancho has the potential to match Katherine on Cinema Paradiso.

  97. E.... C....

I close my eyes and she sweeps me away to paradise. It's like floating in the air listening to Katherine sing.
