I still don't dislike the chorus, but I still get that feeling that the freakin kickass intro to this song up to 1:27 or so was asking for (and deserved) something more unique and greater to follow through.
Maybe if they started playing the chorus right away like they do on the last one... I dont know...
Anyway still really like this song.

I disagree, i love how at 3:58 on the last chorus the drums and guitars+bass give such a clean and light sound

I love the intro to this song. It's like a wall of calming white noise and freqencies massaging my brain. I also like the fact that it feels a bit like shoegaze (e.g. swervedriver) with a darker, slightly more technical sound to it, and better lyrics.

This is a progressive metal band. The song begins at 0:00. Everything from that point to the end is crucial and if you can't understand that (i.e. the fella that claims it truly "starts" at 0:42 when the baseline enters) then you need to re-listen.

man the the lyrics the way they play wow i cant even describe it!

To say this isnt similar to Tool is just plain ignorant. I mean high pitched bass widdlys, similar voice, odd times. However they have theyre differences, Karnivool use a bigger variety of key signatures and rely more on chord changes than guitar riffs. And its safe to say they are both awesome.

was pillin with the drummer 2007ish at scarborough perth. they were dope then even better now.u can make the lyrics ur own thats wat they want as i recall.underated band 4 sure.

I didn't really give this as much credit as other tracks on Sound Awake for a long while but then it grew and grew and grew into this huge creature of brilliance and meaning. I love the theme of shrugging off your restrictions and achieving an open mind. I also love how Karnivool have the balls to sing so openly about questioning religion and addressing the 'fear'. It was clever to put this song after The Caudal Lure on the album, seeing as its meaning runs parallel to that of Illumine.

@Tilley6969 for my taste i gotta say this has to be my favorite song of their album, but all around it is an amazing album. heard a few songs and bought it straight away.

If this were the worst song on the album, it wouldn't much matter. Sound Awake is perfect.
