I remember this was the song that I played right before I found out my aunt was pregnant and she was naming it Oliver if it was a boy. She didn't even know I listened to this.

Why does everyone think kara's flowers is just a band featuring Adam Levine? It's Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden, and Ryan Dusick. They split up to go to college, then the four of them started playing again, with James Valentine, from Square, a friend Adam met through John Mayer, and James ended up joining the band, which they called Maroon 5. They released their debut album, 'Songs about Jane, which picked up speed.

Is it me or does this song has a part that sounds like a Green Day song?

@Mike Dalia Really? What's even cooler is that Rob Cavallo actually was the producer in this album. So who knows? Maybe it was an homage to that song.

I really like it. The Beatles influence is prominent.

This is not Maroon 5. Just because Adam was also in this band means nothing. Would you call Nirvana and Foo Fighters the same band just because Dave Grohl was in both? This was Adam's first band and because it is NOT Maroon 5, both bands obviously wouldn't sound the same. Quit the bashing.

well you have to consider the thought that ...okay this is going to be very subjective.. but be honest, you know that people wont be reacting on dave grohls past band since that one was already amazing (NIRVANA, DUUH) plus the newer band (FOO FIGHTERS, OFCOURSE) is something as cool sounding and as pure as it is as NIRVANA had been. In adam's case with kara's flowers (here comes the very subjective reason)...ALMOST NO ONE KNEW THAT ADAM HAD A COOLER SOUNDING BAND THAT HAD less poppy, "unprocessed" music and they appeared more like professional musicians who dgaf about the crowd and the fame.. in short they used to be non-sellouts. the reason why most people now are comparing and bashing is because they are amazed (and so am I) with how an awesome band that wouldve catered to good music even to this day (like dave grohl does, i mean he never really ended up like a justin bieber or ended up hosting for a freaking pop show, right?) end up like sellouts (poppy/cheesy, processed, shallow, music).. and I AM ONE HUNDRED PERCENT SURE YOU KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. ITS JUST THAT YOU INSTEAD WANT TO GO AGAINST IT... WHY? prolly you like processed music too, i dunno :P

Ryan wasn't replaced, he was still in the band when they changed their name, but then he hurt his arm and wasn't able to play drums anymore

I can't get enough of their old power pop sound, their new contemporary sound doesn't really do it for me. But at least they found the sound they were going for.

Mickey Madden is the bassist. The guitarist they picked up was James Valentine. They aren't exactly different bands. All four of them from Kara's Flowers (Mickey, Adam, Jesse, and Ryan) made up Maroon 5 after they picked up James. But Ryan hurt himself from all the playing and was replaced with Matt Flynn who is still in the band today.

I think change is a necessary part of everyone's life. and we shouldn't expect Maroon 5 to *not* change. Sure, I preferred the Songs about Jane days / the Ryan era, but I'm not going to hate on them for being different. Just like EVERY other band/artist/whatever that changes, I believe Maroon 5 should have the same right as the others.

A second album ? Oh it would be so cool to know which songs were on. But I downloaded lots songs of KF so maybe I have one of this second album unreleased ;)

@jasonkm77 OK, me, I love Maroon 5 but it's true, the style of music has changed. But what I like is that Adam has always write his songs and told his life, what he felt. So, it's interesting to "see" him changed, grow-up, be more mature. And we know everything, almost, on his sentimental life ;) (sorry for my english, I am french, read again myself to see my errors, so if you wanna more explications or details, please tell me)

I prefer them like "Kara's Flowers" than "Maroon 5"
