Kamelot - Up Through The Ashes Lyrics

So you can heal
They claim with conviction
You've got a crowd

So what's your appeal
Your voice, your predictions
They're getting loud

But if I let you die, you must forgive me

Raise me up, up through the ashes
(welcome the paradise you made)
Take me on, into the light

You want to die
Create a sensation
Be makin' the news

An eye for an eye
my king of creation
king of the Jews

Before I let you die, you must forgive me

Raise me up, up through the ashes
(welcome the paradise you made)
Take me on, into the light

[Solo]

Give me a sign of remorse
(I don't need your blood)
You will hang on the cross
For playing god

You the people must decide
The self-proclaimed prophet, or the novice murderer
The king or the convict, it's up to you
So tell me who's free to go

Raise me up, up through the ashes
(forgive my every sin)
Take me on, into the light
Raise me up, up through the ashes
Take me on, into the light

This song is about jesus. FYI

Is it just me or does he sing "maddest murderer" and not "novice murderer"? Since both in context the second doesn't make sense and I just can't hear novice in what he sings.

    D.... ....

I heard both "maddest murderer" and "malice murderer", but everywhere I see says it was "novice murderer".

    D.... ....

he says "modest murderer" basically another way of saying jew

    D.... ....

I don't think he was saying "Jew" by that. Barabbas was known to be a rabble rouser and murderer but one thing he wasn't, was modest. He sought to kick Rome out of Judea in the name of YHWH when he didn't realize that YHWH had sent His Son to save the world in a much different way than the Jewish people had expected.

I was oblivious to the lyrics until I started listening closely. I then read them up. And it confirmed to me that the song is about a monumental moment. Where people sentenced the person they had been waiting for to death.

    scw55 yes you're right

To be more specific: these lyrics are based on the decisions of Pontius Pilatus when he sentenced Jesus to be crucified ;)

@Basementdrummer 98 That is so true!

Ghost Opera is one of the most underrated albums of Kamelot. It is not entirely awesome, but the songs that I love in it are actually my favorites songs of Kamelot.
"The Human Stain", "Blûcher", "Love you to Death" and "Up Through the Ashes" are all, for me, above anything Black Halo and Epica have to offer, which are, by the way, nigh-perfect Kamelot albums. These Ghost Opera songs, however, are much more musical and lyrical. They are just plain beautiful.

u forgot the song Ghost Opera.. im pretty sure you did

+Anthony González Miranda Whole Ghost Opera is awesome my 2nd favorite album first one is Karma :)

I don't know about that. Ghost Opera did great critically and sold nicely using the momentum of The Black Halo, usually following such a masterpiece has a lot of drawbacks, but instead it just solidified the album as a great follow up, if maybe not as perfect.

To each their own, but this album lacks "something" in most of their songs. This song is great, but it lacks the energy that Karma, Epica, or The Black Halo has. This album is good, but it's not on the same level as Epica and The Black Halo where each and every song is amazing to listen too.

I recently acquired a copy of Ghost Opera from Amazon, and had great difficulty finding it for less than $40 (supply and demand for an out of print item is the driving force behind the prices). On top of that, it is one of the two most sought after albums Kamelot ever put out so far as I am aware, the second one being the Black Halo. As a result, I strongly disagree. I had no problem finding every other album for decent prices from Fourth Legacy onward, but not these two. I love this album, but I do not think for one second that this is underrated.

Oh? Well that wasn't a really nice thing to say about someone's life. Sorry the truth hurt so much that you felt you had to make a come back! Good day to you. :)

This song of Kamelot is by far their greatest master pieces. Why? Think about it now.. what is being said in this song..? What's it all about?! If you must, go ahead it's Okay, look up the lyrics for this EPIC song FIRST, before you even think about smarting off in a way that would not just displease me, it would mostly displease yourself !

I have to say to you GydoKamst, all I saw was more so bitching about the spelling, rather than mentioning how much this song means to you. As well as what it means to others, like myself! Seriously though, I'm VERY surprised that you even got ONE thumbs up for your bitching and complaining!!

  9. M.... ....

    misspelt? lol ;-) misspelled.

FYI I'm an American! A real American.

Most American's don't know what they're missing! As far as music is concerned. I know a shit load about music and America has been running out of talent such as this since the "NU" Millenium.
