Kamelot - Black Tower Lyrics

O Black Tower what is your power?
What makes men run and hide
I've foreseen the evil in the
Dead of the night
As the demons they dance in my mind

Telling tales of horror
And the splendor of their torture
Burning flames reach for the sky
The gates of Hell are open wide

O Black Tower
Black Tower

O Black Tower
Why do you devour?
The souls they sleep in the night
Casting evil shadows signs of no tomorrows
Why must I fear for my life?

Telling tales of horror
And the splendor of their torture
Burning flames reach for the sky
The gates of Hell are open wide
Why must the demons dance in my mind?

O Black Tower
Black Tower

Now I know it's the truth
All the evil men do
They shall pay their dues
Nightmares tell the truth

O Black Tower
Black Tower

Why must the demons dance in my mind?

Kamelot Black Tower Comments
  1. J.... S....

    what a great meme

  2. M.... A....

    linda composiçao!!!!!

  3. A.... G....

    Funny? Wtf?

  4. B.... S....

I went to high school with Mark V..He even taught me how to tune a guitar and my first chords. Mark is a really nice person. Glad to hear his music from back then again. Thanks for sharing.

  5. W.... ....

Mark reminds me of the late&great Midnight (Crimson Glory). And that's good thing. Maybe he can resurrect CG and record with them. That would be very cool!

  6. J.... A....

Why is this vocalist getting so much flak? He's not Khan, but I kind of like him, he has a nice rich voice, similar to Geoff Tate and he handles high notes quite well, not as good as Khan does but still pretty darn good.

  7. I.... D....

Am I the only one who thinks mark vanderbilt is magnitudes better than roy khan?

    I.... D....

@IRONDIO444 I really like Axel Rudi Pell, I like their cover version of "Love Gun" by Kiss.

    I.... D....

+Evan Boyd temple of the king(rainbow),warrior(riot), & in the air tonight(phil collins) aren't shabby covers either.

    I.... D....

+IRONDIO444 I'll have to listen to them :) Blind Guardian did some good covers, like from Iron Butterfly.

    I.... D....

+Evan Boyd I love Blind guardians covers of don't talk to strangers(Dio) & beyond the realms of death(Judas Priest).

    I.... D....

+IRONDIO444 Yeah, I just love Hansi's voice, how he can rasp those high notes so well.

  8. H.... O....

    Singer's imitating Geoff tate. Sux.

    H.... O....

+GameJourney What is it about this that sounds like Geoff Tate, exactly? Or, for that matter, what even makes you think he's trying to "imitate" Geoff Tate? You need to clean your ears buddy. :P

    H.... O....

@Jasper Adion Uh... there were a lot of singers at the time doing it... Midnight from Crimson Glory is another example.

  9. K.... ....

For Kamelot the song itself is actually good for a first album, but the vocals are just... laughable. Thank God for Roy and Tommy!

  10. R.... B....

Sounds like a parody of Michael Kiske, or possibly Geoff Tate. In any case, still better than Khan's cheezy croon.

  11. A.... A....

Mark doesn't have a bad voice, powerful vocals but more old heavy metal style... but It just not fit to the music somehow... But still think his style is a little funny xD Try to imagine the Haven stuff with this voice... rofl!

    A.... A....

+CarmineMoonlight he reaches pretty high notes though, but it's still a bit funny xD

    A.... A....

+CarmineMoonlight I really like this music, and I think his voice fits with it. The thing is, around Karma/Epica, Kamelot's style started to shift, and from The Black Halo onward, it's actually a bit hard for me to even identify them as the same band.

His voice definitely wouldn't fit with the modern style--Karevik's voice is perfect for it. It's a testament to the versatility of Khan's voice that he was able to sing material with a more Maiden-influenced style and the more recent material. I love his performance in The Black Halo, but also his performance in The Fourth Legacy.

Karevik may actually be able to pull this material off too, though. While not quite similar to this, Veil of Elysium is closer to traditional power metal than anything else I've heard since Ghost Opera, and he sings really well on that song.

    A.... A....

i agree, with a more symphonic singer like Roy or Tommy the music and lyrics blend better....

    A.... A....

Voice recorded geoff tate band progressive

  12. M.... Z....

Listen to this and then listen to Kamelot's new album. They've made a huge difference

    M.... Z....

@Epic. Zurcher11 although, I do kinda like this, too

  13. C.... ....

    I like it.

  14. P.... ....

The vocal style in Eternity/Fourth Legacy is so different from what they make now.
this song takes the cake though xD

  15. A.... T....

You seem that you dont know that back at these days Vanderbilt was for many people consider to actually be the great Midnight from Crimson Glory.. Uploader you are very ignorant about music

  16. C.... O....

Vanderbilt's voice is the only thing i liked from the first 2 albums

  17. F.... P....

Why people laugh about the voice of this guy?! This performance was very good, a bunch of a idiots I say.

    F.... P....

+Felipe Farron Because He's more old school theatrical than musical, and people don't get it.

    F.... P....

omg dont be such a grunch... its all about tastes and it isn't a dumb thing to find his voice a little odd and funny. .. all about perception...

    F.... P....

+Felipe Farron I guess those people would laugh at old classic albums by Crimson Glory or Fates Warning as well, because they had similar vocals. In fact, I think Vanderbilt was pretty much influenced by Midnight and John Arch. Power metal kids these days don't get it.

    F.... P....

Look at this signals of entitlement...yeah sure keep telling everyone how your taste of music is better than others'...by the way I find this guy's voice unbearable...yet I have listened to similar ones and had no issue...sorry to Mark but it might be the way he pronounces the words over the tone he sings in...

    F.... P....

Lol, don't even try... This guy was unlistenable.

  18. M.... ....

i wish khan would have covered this song

  19. m.... ....

When did Adam Sandler sing for Kamelot?!

    m.... ....

    Damnit..

    m.... ....

    Jajajaja

  20. J.... R....

Oh black towah wha' iz yo powah!?

  21. M.... ....

This is not professionally made. The drums have monotonous rhythm and voicing and passages with bad timing. The vocalist makes too many phrasings. The guitars and bass however, are quite good.

    M.... ....

    It WAS their first album.
and this is honestly a good song, if you can get past Vanderbilt's overdone voice.

  22. J.... P....

This was not a good time for Kamelot.  I honestly can't even stand to have the two Vanderbilt albums in my collection.

    J.... P....

Frankly, it's pretty ridiculous that you would claim that my opinion is invalid just because you disagree with me. It's even more ridiculous that you would tell me I need more experience with something when you have no idea how much experience I've had with it. I have been listening to rock and metal since I was able to choose what kind of music I wanted to listen to.

In my opinion, this just doesn't sound that good. The vocals sound strained and overdone and the instrumentals are alright at best.

    J.... P....

@J. Perkins Just a few years bro, -or not? You know I'm right. Apart of this, -Who said that the metal or rock it has to sound so perfect? When this is a expression of many feelings repressed in the human heart, as angry, pain, happyness etc. I'ts ok that metal and rock sound good or even more, perfect. But, even perfect this is, more and more it's own spirit is lost. Or you think that AC-DC first albums are bad? Please!!!

    J.... P....

I'm 22 years old now, so I've been choosing to listen to rock and metal for about 15 years.

I never said they had to sound perfect. I just said that I don't like the Kamelot albums with Vanderbilt. That is because I don't like the sound of his vocals. Feel free to enjoy these albums if you want. I really don't care.

I don't actually care for AC/DC at all, so I would say I don't really like any of their albums.

    J.... P....

@J. Perkins I told you, I knew that. But I also Know that you were influenced by somebody else, maybe your father. I tell you, with seven years old you don´t even know where are you stand up. But it's ok, you still have too much to walk in your own way, and don't forget that, before you give any opinion about any band, at least earn the respect of all the rest with a trayectory, in the lack of this, just listen. Regards!!!

    J.... P....

Of course my tastes were influenced by other people. I still maintain that I started to choose what I wanted to listen to around 7 or 8 years old.

I am honestly not sure what you said after that first part of your comment, but I think it was amicable. So, thanks, I guess.

  23. C.... ....

I can't stop laughing at the vocals oh my god

  24. Z.... Z....

not good for kamelot, but this dudes voice is absolutely amazing. sounds like marco hietala from nightwish.

    Z.... Z....

    please i'm begging you.............:D

  25. C.... ....

For real, go listen to Necropolis, When the lights are down, The Great Pandemonium, March of Mephisto and then tell me that shit isn't headbanging.

  26. H.... ....

He was alright on the second album, but the vocals on the debut suck ass.

  27. M.... S....

maybe I am insane, but I actually like how if sounds, but it is true that he can't compare with Roy, and this reminds me on Iron Maiden

  28. T.... ....

vanderbilt seriously isnt that bad i mean he is nowhere NEAR as good as roy but people led me to believe he's just awful, but he could be worse

  29. T.... T....

not strong enough!!!, your mad, Khans is much stronger and he proves it,

  30. T.... T....

seriously! you have to be kidding me, more metal headbanging power album, go listen to Khans stuff more, this guy is good but no were near heavy

  31. J.... ....

Watch out, we're dealing with a badass!

  32. A.... D....

this is actually my favorite Kamelot album. more of a metal headbanging power metal album

  33. A.... D....

    fuck off and die

  34. E.... ....

Oh dear god....Khan did save the band, if this ass clown was all they had they would be shit out of luck.

  35. m.... h....

Of cause, Khan is a much better singer, but is hé a better "vokalist"????? I Think It dipence on taste. There Is something about the "Old School-Kamelot" I just can't stop listening to It. And btw, If Khan where singing thise songs, from the two first albums.....COME ON! Can't you guys realise, that Khan's voice just wouldt fall apart. Khan has i butifull voice, but It's just not syring enough.

  36. M.... ....

@sisjka Yeah but Khan's is more memorable

  37. s.... ....

Vanderbilts voice is much more metal than Khans

  38. M.... H....

Yes, Khan is a great singer, but you Can't not compere this to, they are so different, Khan has this very amazing clear voice, and Vanderbit has this rough and more heavy voice. Mabe Khan has i better vocal, but hé wo'd just destroy this song totaly.

  39. l.... ....

exactly like queensrych haha. in a less controlled sense.. i'll always love khan

  40. l.... ....

Vanderbilt is just AWESOME! i cant listen to Kamelot with Khan...

  41. D.... C....

If he could pronounce the words better when he sings he would be okay. Also, stop trying to be Geoff Tate. Stop it. That is all.

  42. G.... A....

I love the Queensryche and Crimsom Glory worship going here, but this singer's voice is way out of control. I would love if they re-recorded these songs with a less annoying singer, there are some good riffs and melodies here, but the singer strips them of some of the enjoyment.

  43. C.... ....

Why is Adam Sandler Singing Lol

  44. J.... ....

But actually when he can actually pronounce all the words, he's not bad at all. Khan is still on another level, but still.

  45. J.... ....

@Pakanahymni KHAN IS GONE! IT WILL NEVER BEEEEE! *Sobs uncontrollably*

  46. P.... M....

vanderbilt sounds like khan with down syndrome

  47. e.... ....

@Zhippy Of course I can. I just didn't like the way you expressed your opinion in your first comment. And the fact that Midnight(RIP) was one of my fav singers, makes me like Mark. I like this kind of vocals a lot.

  48. Z.... ....

@evermetal2 That is why discussing whether or not music is good or not, is pointless.
Every man has his own taste, I think Mark sounds "screamish" so to speak, and your taste in music tells you that Mark is better. I can accept that you do not agree with me, can you do the same? :-)

  49. e.... ....

    @Vdubtech9 Nope....

  50. A.... D....

@evermetal2 Khan is so much better than mark...

  51. e.... ....

@Zhippy Mark is waaaay better than Khan, no question about that. And when I'm saying that this is better than today's Kamelot, I mean the whole "package", not just the vocals. By "him" I mean yourself of course.

  52. Z.... ....

@evermetal2 Who's this "him" your referring to? And I am not about to shoot anyone just because YOU cannot come up with a better argument for your own case :P

  53. e.... ....

@Zhippy I suggest you go FUCK yourself and then shoot him in the head. Alright, sweetcheaks?

  54. Z.... ....

@evermetal2 I suggest you get your ears out of your ass, wash them, and then take another GOOD session of listening to Roy's voice, he fits Kamelot 10 times better then this guy, though his voice IS certainly good.

  55. X.... ....

@ClassnathanRs Iron Maiden had redone versions of some older songs with Paul Di'ano, though were never released on LPs or main records, so it isn't a radical idea to re-record the albums with a new singer, and i think Khan could do it, but he would struggle trying to do the songs live. besides i'm more of a Khan fan anyway, i first heard of the band with the songs Edge of paradise and Lost & Damned, i looked into their early work last, and i had a bad impression from such, so i never bought em

  56. T.... L....

@RapidFire813 ill agree this singer sounds a little better... i just started listening to them like 5 mins ago ha ha...

  57. N.... ....

Midnight actually sounds cool and not like a total cheese ball.

  58. S.... ....

You know what, I've been hearing for years how funny these vocals are, and when I finally hear them.....not THAT funny, he just sounds like Midnight from Crimson Glory, which is awesome.

  59. e.... ....

This is much better than today's Kamelot...

  60. A.... Y....

Vanderbilt is not a bad singer. His style is just weird.

    Can't deny I enjoy Khan's voice more.

  61. W.... I....

damn! jajaja he has a good voice but kan's is better :) but this song is not like the others with khan but khan has a better voice than mark jaja that is full thrue

  62. P.... S....

Back when they were true to their name and genre and not just another goth band :) Should've at least stuck with what they had going till The Black Halo.. IMO! all imo, lol.

  63. C.... ....

I prefer this style to newer Kamelot. This is still classic US power metal.

  64. P.... ....

His vocals are decent, but they were mastered in wrong way on this album, so it sounds like it sounds. Still: Kamelot < Old Power Metal Masters

  65. M.... R....

    OH BLACK TOWAHHH!!!
    Vanderbilt - he sucks. ;/

  66. B.... K....

    He's good...but Khan is better.

  67. J.... ....

They should redo the two first albums with Khan. Vanderbilt is terrible.

  68. A.... O....

kamelot is AWESOME!!!1 I wonder what happened 2 this poor guy in the black tower cause he mourns like it has been terrible.

  69. L.... ....

Whoa, why did they replace this singer? He's awesome!
