Kamelot - Ashes To Ashes Lyrics

Ravished from our paradise
A crack in the mirror
I know who's too blame
So full of life
But paralyzed
Etched on my iris
But I try not to think of it all

We swore to god in veritas
And burned our skin like it burned our souls
One dealt with grief by causing pain
She hid behind maple and built her own fortress of sound

Hear this melody almost forgotten

[Chorus:]
Hush
I've been waiting a lifetime to show you
You're returning to heaven like dust to dust
I've been waiting forever to witness your fading
Like ashes to ashes

Forbidden dance on fragile skin
Why do you shine as I suffer in pain
The greatest scars remain within
Leaving you now with a heart black as cardinal sin

Fear this melody almost forgotten

[Chorus]

Hate....my solution..
Fate......an illusion

[Chorus 2x]

Kamelot Ashes To Ashes Comments
  1. S.... ....

Man.... at the first seconds this guys WANTS ME to have a deep look into his nose: "look how clean it is! hopefully"

  2. S.... F....

A true Kamelot fan will follow them with Roy and Tommy. A true Kamelot fan would not say Tommy or Roy is bad. A true Kamelot fan understands that Roy had his reasons to quit and respect his choice. A true Kamelot fan understands that Roy and Tommy are two different guys with different voices, and a true Kamelot fan know we can't compare them, but instead just love them both!

  3. W.... P....

    Guitar solo be like

GOTTA GO THROUGH ALL THE PICS IN CASE YOU FORGOT

  4. l.... c....

    Hear this melody almost forgotten

  5. E.... ....

My wife just got me into this band and I gotta say, bad ass. I just recently got the two disk limited edition of this album and I am going to upload tomorrow to my PC. Metal forever. \m/

    E.... ....

+Engel78 Your wife has good taste :)

    E.... ....

    Thank you :)

    E.... ....

Tell your wife to highfive her hubby for his awesome wife from me ;)

    E.... ....

How did she do that? I've been trying to get my bf into my favourite bands for years.

  6. j.... s....

i like both, but Roy is better to me,  he sings with more feelings

    j.... s....

+jan shouse Lots of Roy's songs had some pretty deep meanings and feelings to them. Like The Hunters season, it was about Thomas Youngblood's mother's death so he was required to put in a lot of emotion into the song.

  7. J.... ....

wow... this song is amazing. Even as a die-hard fan of Kamelot, I've had a hard time adjusting to Tommy. Don't get me wrong, he is amazingly talented, the new CD just hasn't been my thing. It could be more of the band's fault than his, but something is a little off. I didnt like Poetry for the Poisoned a ton either. Anyways, this song is amazing. I hope the new CD sounds more like this than the other stuff. One area that Tommy is better than Roy is that he writes super catchy vocal hooks in the chorus. This one and falling like fahrenheit are good examples of that. He sounds a little uncomfortable singing in lower registers where Roy really shined. It is what it is, and I hope the band's next effort is better than their latest. I will be sure to check it out regardless.

  8. J.... H....

Omg what a disturbing lyrics there was on this video....

  9. D.... S....

hahah this is a new singer??? i couldint even tell

    D.... S....

Come on, Tommy and Roy do have similar voices but they're not THAT similar so you don't notice that there's a different singer.

    D.... S....

    i still didn't notice

    D.... S....

@subwaytosally18642 I had a moment of doubts too, but you can clearly hear a difference, still, he's a good replacement!

    D.... S....

yaaa this new album is awesome i just bought it

  10. R.... S....

They can't be compared, Roy and Tommy.  Both have a signature voice, their timber and all around qualities are different.  I love Roy Khan and to me there is no better vocalist in the world, but I would be a complete idiot if I didn't say that Tommy Karevik wasn't exceptional.  Yes, I miss Roy, but I don't for one second thin that Tommy has warranted any fan-bashing or hate.  He was great in Seventh Wonder, and he's still great in Kamelot.  They're both incredible and Kamelot is as amazing as it's always been.

    R.... S....

Roy can't be replaced, that's for sure.. but Tommy does an excellent job, and does very well live, and does well with Roy's songs. I had the pleasure of seeing(and meeting) Tommy live in 2013, and it was easily the best concert I've been to.

    R.... S....

But since the Roy was also creator of many songs... Overall quality of Kamelot music decreased with Roy leaving...

    R.... S....

+Grigorije Jakisic I definitely understand what you're saying. I do see and hear the difference in the lyrics. Personally I don't really look at it as a lack of quality. the lyrics are still intelligent, with story telling and messages that still have a deep impact. Admittedly, I like Kahn better. He has unparalleled writing. and can illustrate so much in very few words. Truly he is a master in that regard. Regardless, Tommy's input, while different, is still awesome. Kamelot has grown and changed with every album, and honestly, I don't feel like they've diminished in regards to their talent or quality. lyrical content is a very important thing, but so is the voice and the sound behind it. Just as you can hear the irony in Up Through The Ashes, you can feel the agitation in Ashes to Ashes. Another example would be Tommy in Veritas, where you can feel the venom in every word that leaves his lips. These albums with Tommy are very different lyrically. It's a different kind of drama, like the difference between a play and a film. While I like one better than the other, I don't think it has to do with a quality difference so much as it is a difference of style and one's personal preference.

    R.... S....

Not being a huge Kamelot fan (I love Epica and The Black Halo, but other than that don't really follow them) I didn't even realize this wasn't Roy Khan until reading the comments

  11. S.... W....

At first, I thought, alright Roy Khan is the predecessor and he was a really talented singer, so I understand why fans from his tenure can't get over the truth that he was already left the band, thus they(the fans) can't get used to Tommy then they bash him.
But now, I am really sick of all the bashing and comparisons. I mean, seriously, FUCK YOU, FUCK OFF, LEAVE ALL THE COMMENT PAGES CLEAN.
(They even invaded Seventh Wonder's page... Jesus' fuck.)
Roy Khan has left since 2011, and he is very unlikely to come back. So all you've done couldn't help a bit to get your favorite singer back, but irritate other fans like me, and although I tried to be reason, I started to get an ill feeling every time I watch Khan's video, every time I listening to Khan's singing, because when every time I did this, I couldn't help but recall all his fucking hardcore-fans bashing  on my favorite singer. Negative things only get negative responses back. Is that all you fucking morons want to see?

    S.... W....

I am the biggest roy khan fan in the world, yes my heart is broken :(  You now nothing about kamelot... karevik is good but there is no soul of kamelot anymore :) Good luck man :D

    S.... W....

@iiniestaa Come on, if anyone is the soul of Kamelot, it's Thomas. He's the one who keeps Kamelot going.

    S.... W....

Roy was soul, thom is heart :)

    S.... W....

Replacing a singer is one thing, using a clone wannabee Khan is something else. When Deep Purple replaced Ian Gillan they gave us Glenn Hughes and David Coverdale, totally different singers. Bands that use "clones"should be outvoted.

    S.... W....

I'm sorry this comment is 3 years old, but I hope it's okay I still add my opinion?

I do like Roy's voice more. HOWEVER, I think Tommy has a really great voice. I think his voice is very melodic & good for Power Metal, & that he makes a good substitute for Roy. Of course, no one can ever replace originals in anything, that's just how it is. But I think he does a good job in carrying on with Kamelot's music & with Roy's songs. I think he has plenty of heart & soul, & I think that his lyrics work just as well as Roy's did. It still carries a message & a story to it. He's not Roy, but I think Tommy is just as good & he tries his best, which also counts for a lot! The fact he tries says something, because many artists in our generation don't seem to try? It's saddening.

Also, +iiniestaa you have no right to say to a total stranger "you know nothing on this band." It makes you look like an annoying tween who can only whine when their feelings get hurt instead of just respectfully disagree.

  12. P.... ....

Where did you get the images used in the video?  Specifically the angel picture used at 3:31 .

  13. G.... K....

le re doy en la primera foto....:p

  14. Z.... Z....

is it weird that I can pick out the Silverthorn chick's face while the images are flashing by as fast as they are during those solos?

  15. Z.... Z....

this is amazing. the only thing I would do differently is, at the beginning have a minister saying "dust to dust, ashes to ashes". that would make an epic song perfect. not to sound like i'm complaining.

  16. d.... ....

Tommy is a great addition but Roy...he was my favorite male singer. Wished he didn't burn himself out. He will be missed

  17. I.... ....

Advice, put lyrics sec or two before spoken word so ppl can sing :D

  18. a.... ....

I don't remember a band who managed to perform such a seamless transition between two talented vocal singers...consedering the shoes he had to fill, Tommy certainly held his own and took the stage by storm.

  19. R.... ....

I want to say this in defense of Tommy, he does an absolutely phenomenal job live. I never saw them live with Khan, but Karevik totally killed it when I saw them a few days ago. All the technicality you'd expect, great stage presence. He meets or exceeds expectations.

  20. d.... ....

    Lol face at 0:13

  21. T.... ....

Roy had some great moments though.

  22. T.... ....

I think this guy is a wonderful replacement for Roy, I was skeptical at first but I love this just as much as I love everything with Roy.

  23. s.... ....

STUPID COMMENTS! ROY ROY ROY TIRED OF CRAPPY ROY COMMENTS ... TOMMY IS THE SINGER DEAL WITH IT.. WHINING LIKE KIDS.. BOTH ARE GOOD .

  24. W.... S....

Je pense que vous avez très bien.

  25. c.... ....

    for the Kamelot fans*

  26. c.... ....

I agree, he really did. That was pretty cool of him to kind of conform to Roy's style of singing.

  27. C.... N....

    He's good, that's all that matters , right ? :|

  28. M.... S....

I'm not saying that he's copying Roy Khan, but their voice is so simillar, and both are still special in their ways

  29. T.... A....

Agreed... Not even close... I mean He did a great job... but I think that even quality of the music is a lot lower after Roy left... I kinda have feeling that its just not the same band... :'(

  30. M.... G....

Good... but honestly not even close to Rhoy! :/

  31. P.... ....

Yeah, sure, do not copy, do as Anette Olzon, make your own sound and lose half the fanbase...
By the way, Roy is a great singer, try to "just copy" him yourself, and maybe you'll realize that Tommy's doing a great job here.

I was worried about Roy's successor. Close enough to Roy's voice to reassure me (especially for Roy's era songs), different enough to bring some fresh air. They did the right choice imo.

  32. C.... ....

either that or they just have similar sounding voices. That's not always something that can be helped

  33. T.... C....

I love his voice and this band has been epic from the start and continue to be so ♥

  34. V.... I....

En esta nueva produccion se ve un considerable avance de la banda hacia el progresivo bien por ellos todas las canciones del disco estan chingonas

  35. d.... ....

is this roy khan or Tommy Karevik

    d.... ....

    desolatefix Tommy Karevik

  36. R.... N....

0:10 very very flattering picture of Tommy <3

  37. s.... ....

Kahn is an amazing singer, but I like this guy too. I think he's got a beautiful voice.

  38. V.... ....

Puts you in mind of Geoff Tate...

  39. L.... ....

but if you compare Kahn's voice from Poetry for the Poisoned and Tommy's voice from this album, they're not similar at all.
This is just how Kamelot's music is written, man. Is Anything, Tommy sounds like a younger Kahn, back when he was still finding his trademark sound.
There's nothing wrong with sounding like the singer who you're replacing in the band. If anything, it's admirable that he's trying to maintain the quality we've taken for granted.

Don't hate on Tommy, he's trying his best.

  40. R.... K....

    What program is this???

  41. M.... D....

    This guy's voice is incredible.

  42. M.... ....

Try to listen to Seventh Wonder, Tommy sings with them too and he has his own sound there. I think Kamelot's fans don't want a new way of singing, really different that they used to listen with Roy . Tommy did a nice job here.

  43. E.... K....

    no, Sony Vegas

  44. B.... M....

wow great job mate on this , great song and great record

  45. R.... A....

That being said, I still will always think Khan was a better vocalist. But that doesn't make this guy any less talented than he is. Props to him for having some gigantic fucking shoes to fill and doing a pretty dang good job.

  46. R.... A....

Part of what makes Kamelot distinctive is their vocal sound. Why would they want to deviate? Not to mention, Khan was talented out the ass as a singer, must take a lot of skill to sound similar. FURTHER, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery (actually I think that saying is dumb but anyways). My point is, if they took say I dunno the singer from Dream Theater or Nine inch Nails or any other fucking band and put it into Kamelots instrumental sound it wouldn't mingle well.

  47. a.... o....

Kahn is still better. anyone can sound like someone else, this guy is just copying him. make your own sound...

  48. K.... M....

    Great! After Effects, right?

  49. R.... v....

    Godlike...C'mpn Tommy!!!!

  50. T.... ....

    This. Song. Is. Amazing.

  51. S.... B....

this is a really cool lyric video XD

  52. L.... M....

    Incrível!!!

  53. M.... ....

Thomas Youngblood himself shared this on Facebook!!

  54. N.... ....

    Great job!

  55. r.... ....

    Great video!! Incredible!!

  56. r.... ....

    My confession please

  57. R.... K....

    wwwwo man great job

  58. a.... ....

    Epic :D

  59. M.... S....

El nuevo Vocal si la arma, se extraña a Roy pero tommy es bueno (y)

  60. C.... ....

    Rather epic!
